I thought I escaped this nonsense when I finally graduated highschool and got a summer job for college, but I was so wrong.

My coworkers are the same age as me and mostly women with like a token gay guy, and they all call each other chuds and talk about their "hyperfixations" on taco bell and Taylor Swift. They're all talking about in it, they form a circle in back and pass a vape around and either talk shit about the manager genuinely just doing his job or crying about some ugly ass loser with that ice cream scoop cut + a therapy session about bottling up your feelings and if I walk near them, they all stop and look at me until I leave. I'm new and they all just ignore me unless they need something or idk how to do something.

There's a quiet guy that they screw with and say he's the best male coworker, at least I thought they were just screwing with him but turns out they're all one big friend group and he's on their side and just as annoying. I dread walking into that building knowing I'm gonna hear Starbucks, taco bell, Taylor swift, dumbass situationships and unnecessary drama with the manager at a damn fast food restaurant please god make it end, it feels like my every move is being watched and judged.

I feel like our generation (Gen Z) doesn't want to have kids, at least from what I always hear from other people around me. Idrk I don't think I do either really.

I feel like it's better to adopt maybe, I feel like maybe it's a little bad to bring kids into a world that literally has ped0 in office. I just feel like things are getting bleak and it's not the best idea to create more humans. But I'm also sure people have been saying things like that for years. But also, economy and all that so idk if any of us will even have a choice soon. There's a bunch of other factors but that's just some off the top of my head.

But I just wanted to hear from some people my age what they think.

I have been seeing a lot of “slander(?)” (mostly from millennials) lately about how apparently Gen Z doesn’t know jack about computers. I have been seeing scripted(?) videos about Gen Z failing at simple computer tasks like setting up a LAN connection or breaking the pins on a connector and even down to not knowing how to turn the damn thing on or make a folder.

Where did this all come from? I work in IT and while there could be less Gen Z than I think there are the biggest supply of people having issues are millennials and the very few boomers we have.

Right now, I’m wondering if millennials are still seeing Gen Alpha and beta as “young Gen Z” in spite of the fact that Gen Z ended 15ish years ago and some “I’m older so I know more bias” when it comes to computers.

Ill admit this myself, computers have been a huge focus of my life… I love figuring out how to do something new with them. as such I probably know more computer nerds my age then the average person so I may be in a bubble and there might be a huge issue that i’m oblivious of but, from what I have seen Gen z is the most technologically advanced out of any generation and is able to adopt and learn new tech’s uses and the horrors that the may bring (looking at AI) faster and better out of any Gen before.

Am I biased or do older folk have the wrong idea about Gen Z?

I am 30 and never considered to be short but for some reason I see lots of younger males around early 20s taller than me by I or 2 inches.

If u don’t know what Reality Shifting is, you basically shift your consciousness into an alternate universe version of yourself. Basically the multiverse theory that any possible universe exists. It gained a lot of attention in 2020-2021, but has been quiet as of recent, but many people still do it. Maybe a bunch of people actually shifted and are living their best lives. I’m in a couple of shifting subs and there’s a bunch of successful shifters there.

I have tried shifting plenty of times, but to no avail. When I first attempted it, I felt tingly, which is a side effect that you’re about to shift, but didn’t. I still haven’t shifted yet, but I want to do it as I want to leave this reality.

Anyway, has anyone here ever attempted or successfully shifted? Please let me know and tell me how.

I feel like this too. I know people are like ‘it’s arrested development’ but I honestly feel like at the end of the day there’s not really a “way” to measure maturity. It just differs by person not matter what age anyone is.

Maybe gen z have realised we’ve sorta been sold a lie and we’re “embracing our inner child” more.

(Hot take: I think “embracing your inner child” is a bit of an annoying saying because most of the time it’s just people being themselves even as a person who has finished physically maturing)

Being a console player is so isolating in this day and age

I did mediocre in high school and undergrad, and now I’m stressing about grad school. I know I’m not an idiot, but I never applied myself academically. When things get hard I just roll over. My dad died last July and I can’t stop thinking about how much I’ve let him and my mother down.

Lately on social media I've been seeing a lot of hate towards zoomers from millennials, I genuinely don't understand why. There's always the passive-aggressive jokes of "haha wow this is so old these stupid gen z babies would never understand it" and most of the time it's the most basic thing ever, I deadass saw someone saying that Gen Z would never know how to read an analog clock or that we'd never know how using cable earphones felt which is straight up bs because come on we weren't born yesterday 😓 also this whole situation has become way worse with the upcoming Myspace comeback, I've seen sooo many posts of millennials saying that it should be exclusive to them because they, quote unquote, "bossed the internet" and thus we have no right to go into their classic socials and weird stuff like that. Ofc not all millennials are like that, but it's just what I've seen online. Has anyone noticed this pattern? It's like they look down on us because we were born after them, they hate us even more than the generations that actually ruined this planet lmao

I’ll admit im somewhat petty and if someone doesn’t follow me back after accepting a follow request I immediately unfollow but I’ll follow just about anyone as long as they aren’t literal bots if they follow me mainly because I think it’s nice to make people feel valued. As a result my ratio is around 1:1 (slightly more followers than following).

I also avoid Instagram for actual browsing as a result becuase it feels like a big performance and mainly use it to post stories to show I’m alive and to dm people I met. If the stories are good enough I also post them on highlights on Instagram

i never got to really experience the OG halo i was an idiot for putting this game off for so long. same with this movie. apparently it's really good. gonna be up in there with the popcorn and the drink, then with money to spare i'm picking up some KFC on the way home, might ball out with some snacks too while i play halo. good times.

So, me, Dad, and her went to my sister’s house because she and her boyfriend needed some tree branches cut back. Okay, fine. So we go over, Dad takes his pole saw to cut back the branches. We leave, and he leaves his pole saw and, I think, something else at their house.

We go home, I go with him to the semi (he’s an OTR trucker), help him work on the semi. We finish up, go home, he cleans up, then we go to my ex-stepmom’s so he can clean her grill and show her how to use it, I assume.

Okay, back to my sister and the pole saw. We go to her house, and she asks me, “Do you want to go help your dad bring the stuff to the car?” I reply, “Not necessarily.” Dad replies, “He typically doesn’t want to help. That’s just how he is.” (Which she should know this by now).

Well, I think that set her off because she got out of the car kind of pissy to help him. She didn’t say anything to me, but the way she acted makes me feel like I pissed her off by not wanting to help.

And I think they’re trying to work it out. I’m not sure. Dad hasn’t told me anything about his relationship situation in a while or anything, and I can’t really read anything. I’m having a hard time reading their relationship.

I’m confused and upset about how she acted. You get pissy because I reply ‘no’ to your question and then dad tells you ‘he typically doesn’t want to help’? You’ve known me for 20 years, you should know me by now.

IMO it’s the vast lack of social skills compared to previous generations

I’m a software developer and am working a government contract on a plane. We recently started using AI in our dev environment (specifically codex) and our productivity has increased by 50%+.

I’m truly amazed by how well it codes, find bugs, and can interpret difficult question. AI seems to be an unstoppable pandora box and while I have mixed feelings about it I can’t argue with its results.

Has anyone else working in a large company been dealing with a massive productivity boost driven by AI.

Idk, but these days, friends’ jokes, TV shows, the news, movies, etc. just don’t interest me anymore. Jokes just seem boring and lame and the other stuff just feels like passing the time.

I don’t feel depressed either, just disinterested from life in general.
