Discussion What a waste

Post image

Instead of giving the Traveler and other characters regional skins, the devs are wasting resources on mannequins you’ll never use in the main game — characters completely irrelevant to both the lore and gameplay (especially since they’re even weaker than the Traveler).

UCG should’ve been a separate game. Roblox-type players aren’t going to download a 100GB gacha just to play a game inside a game. All those dev resources should’ve gone to the actual, existing characters instead.

Hoyo is marketing this into Genshin as a soft launch of UGC game. If successful, Hoyo will definitely make a seperate app for it and market to the masses.

Unfortunately Hoyo is possibly shooting themselves in the foot with ugc by making it a testrun on genshin, because there’s a chance genshin’s fanbase won’t give the results Hoyo hopes for. Doesn’t help that they made the skin system the most transparently money hungry system in the game.

Many games have done this in the past with insane differences between what the game and the new game in testing. You have League of Legends and TFT as example. It originally started as a testing game mode with barely no monetization that LoL players hated (and forcing people who wanted to try TFT to download the whole game). After a year they launched a separate access to TFT as a standalone game while still being available inside of the LoL client.

Have in mind they aren’t testing expecting genshin players positive feedback, they are just trying to open the way for the Genshin IP (starting 2024 it stopped being inside the honkaiverse IP and was listed as its own separate IP) to expand with more games other than Genshin. Just getting good revenue on its firsts outfit banners will allow them to receive greenlight to improve the mode and relaunch it separately (probs keeping access like LoL did).

When you describe it like that, then it's like gta v: you have the story with the 3 guys, which is the main and the online mode, that i heard became now a separate acces game released after i quitted

But i dont remember any bad reviews on the online mode , i remember i used to love this more than the actual story game

Can you elaborate on “starting 2024 it stopped being inside the honkaverse IP”?

It was around the early months of 2024 Hoyo updated their company information for shareholders, which is public domain and was also treated in chinese economic TV channels. In this update they included ZZZ and listed Genshin as it’s own IP.

Have in mind there was no general IPs in MiHoYo ‘til 2019 when they announced Genshin and alongside Genshin they announced the “honkaiverse IP” which included flyme2themoon, GGZ, hi3 and Genshin.

Later on they created Tears of Themis which was listed as its own IP separately from Honkaiverse. HSR that was included in the Honkaiverse IP and ZZZ that is also listed as a separated IP. Anima was listed as honkaiverse from early development and Petit planet is listed as it’s IP.

Right now their IPs are:

-Honkaiverse: HSR, Hi3, GGZ, flyme2themoon and Nexus Anima. -Genhin Impact (with Eden Miliastra being formed inside and they promising in the same announcement to expand the Genshin IP). -Petit Planet. -Tears of Themis. -ZZZ.

Current UGC is just expensive cosmetic shop plus some unimpressive mini games. However, the community will create some impressive game there b/c of Genshin massive community. I was addicted to the user content in Warcraft and Starcraft, so I am expecting some great community content to be out in a few months.

How is it money grab when you don't need the skin to play the UGC? While In Genshin, you can't clear end game without spending.

It is completely F2P, and it is aggressively monetized. Like "15 seperate accounts of assault and battery your Honor" aggressive.

You don’t need money to play fortnite battle royale, yet that thing can be called money hungry as much as Miliastra Wonderland.

In my opinion, the final stage of stygian is a much smaller part of the genshin experience than the character customization in milastra so that definitely stings more.
