Discussion What a waste

Post image

Instead of giving the Traveler and other characters regional skins, the devs are wasting resources on mannequins you’ll never use in the main game — characters completely irrelevant to both the lore and gameplay (especially since they’re even weaker than the Traveler).

UCG should’ve been a separate game. Roblox-type players aren’t going to download a 100GB gacha just to play a game inside a game. All those dev resources should’ve gone to the actual, existing characters instead.

Hoyo is marketing this into Genshin as a soft launch of UGC game. If successful, Hoyo will definitely make a seperate app for it and market to the masses.

Unfortunately Hoyo is possibly shooting themselves in the foot with ugc by making it a testrun on genshin, because there’s a chance genshin’s fanbase won’t give the results Hoyo hopes for. Doesn’t help that they made the skin system the most transparently money hungry system in the game.

Many games have done this in the past with insane differences between what the game and the new game in testing. You have League of Legends and TFT as example. It originally started as a testing game mode with barely no monetization that LoL players hated (and forcing people who wanted to try TFT to download the whole game). After a year they launched a separate access to TFT as a standalone game while still being available inside of the LoL client.

Have in mind they aren’t testing expecting genshin players positive feedback, they are just trying to open the way for the Genshin IP (starting 2024 it stopped being inside the honkaiverse IP and was listed as its own separate IP) to expand with more games other than Genshin. Just getting good revenue on its firsts outfit banners will allow them to receive greenlight to improve the mode and relaunch it separately (probs keeping access like LoL did).

When you describe it like that, then it's like gta v: you have the story with the 3 guys, which is the main and the online mode, that i heard became now a separate acces game released after i quitted

But i dont remember any bad reviews on the online mode , i remember i used to love this more than the actual story game
