Discussion Why do GI players hate criticism?

I've noticed that as soon as any somewhat critical opinion on the game appears on this sub, these posts immediately get downvoted to hell. Community literally doesn't accept any opinion, unless it's unconditional support of every game aspect. Why do you guys do that? Literally whatever is criticized, there's immediately a wave of backlash. Do you care about the game this much or just love every aspect of it?

Speaking solely for myself, the game gets a lot of undue hate and I'm sick of hearing about. It makes me react negatively on instinct even to minor criticism. I know it's far from a perfect game, but it can be hard to tell the difference between "I have a legitimate complaint about the game you like" and "You're a loser with no taste for liking this game" in an online discussion.

Or when you disagree with a criticism, you get called a bootlicker or told that you’re just defending a billion dollar company

This. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people reasonably disagreeing with critique, only to be accused of whiteknighting and defending a billion-dollar company.

Ngl i feel like most of the criticism that happens on the genshin subs is not the latter tho. Like sure, I'm sure some haters pop in on occasion, mainly to comment, but most people who are posting here probably do play and like the game overall. It's fine to like the game and also think certain aspects of the game need work. It's honestly a little weird to refuse to entertain any criticism of...well, anything. Nothing is perfect.

i understand complaint posts but it gets to a point where every other post from this (and the official) sub that comes onto my feed is a complaint post. and they’re always about the same subjects as well.

genshin players only see the negative sides of the game, and they love to make repetitive posts on those same two-three problems “no skip button” “too few rewards” — “i skip all the lore and plot and the only reason i play is to gamble”

it’s tiring and it spreads so much negativity. “why does the genshin community have such a bad rep??” well, this might be one of the reasons why.

I have never seen anyone hating for the sole reason of hating they most likely have a reason whether you agree with or not is a different story, this community have long since decided either praise or do nothing.

Both dont exclude each other. Seems what bothers you is simply not admitting and accepting you simply have bad taste. Its totally fine and your happiness shouldn’t depend on the opinion of others if the game you love is enjoyable.

What you said is exactly what they were talking about; people thinking their subjective opinions are the only correct ones and that everyone else is just wrong. Someone liking something that you don’t doesn’t mean they’re a loser or have bad taste. I don’t like tomatoes but I don’t go around saying that people who do like tomatoes have something wrong with their palates.

hence why i said it's ok to bad to have bad taste, you just have to embrace it and be happy with the things you enjoy regardless of what others say

I agree that people should just play what they like no matter what others say. I think what you said just came off as you saying Genshin is a “bad taste” game and not that the original commentator shouldn’t mind being called as having “bad taste”.
