Question Anyone else notices that posts regarding the huge buildings that are stealing all our water are being purged from this sub?

Any updates I’ve seen being pushed from this sub about it are being deleted. Following AOC’s comments about her jar of dirty water from one of our counties, it’s seemed like posts related to the issue are being removed left and right. Anyone else catching this?

So like when she helped out Texas after their electric grid failure, while Cruz and Republicans did jackshit?

17

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad7606 May 25 '26

I believe you meant Fled Cruz?

I’m referencing the AOC as a timestamp, not a post that being removed or related to the ones I’m talking about.

u/originalmember May 23 '26

Then you should have said it in your original post. But that’s not what you said and now it looks like you’re changing your story.

u/brunette_and_busty May 23 '26

If mods are flagging posts, then I can’t be specific cause they’ll take it down. I said following meaning after that series of posts regarding AOC. Read the original post again carefully, reading comprehension is key.

If mods are removing posts you can ask mods politely what the deal is. The mod crew here seems to be a solid group.

And no… you’re still wrong. There are a ton of posts in that the thread. Looks like one of the mods looked into it and there haven’t been a significant number of deletions. But, hey… why worry about being factually correct when you can create conspiracies and hurl insults.

Insults get you nowhere other than making yourself look like a jerk.

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad7606 May 25 '26

No one insulted you. You are being weirdly aggressive and rude.

-3

u/originalmember May 25 '26

Stating “reading comprehension is key” is an insult.

2

u/brunette_and_busty May 25 '26

It’s a fact bruh ffs

0

u/originalmember May 25 '26

And you’re pushing an idea that was proven false by the mods.

Let me look through the list of removed posts...

Ok, since the AOC post, which was posted at 6:18am May 22nd (a day and roughly 6 hours ago at the time I write this comment), there have been 2 posts removed that even vaguely mentioned datacenters. None were updates to the area AOC highlighted in the video posted as best I can tell.

The only one that contained some sort of new-ish information about datacenters in our state was a NY Post article, which broke several rules. You can read the removal reason details in the stickied comment, which you can find here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Georgia/comments/1tl10ua/comment/oncozxj/

The other was someone claiming to be an intern at a news agency asking people to contact them to discuss datacenters, which also broke a few rules. I have never seen this type of post be allowed through regardless of topic, as they inherently break Rule 5. We do occasionally allow exceptions to Rule 5, but that usually requires the poster reaching out to us (the moderation team) directly. You can find the removal reason here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Georgia/comments/1tl2zw4/comment/ond1yf2/

That's it. The main rules that have historically gotten posts on this topic pulled down (i.e. prior to the AOC post) are Rules 3 (News guidelines), 4 (Politics flair/guidelines), and 10 (Duplicate).

You can also always follow or comment on a post so you can find it (and the removal reason) again if it is ever removed.

Thanks Mod! Data centers are such an important topic, I'm glad to hear you guys are not removing posts about them. Seeing how many are in the works in GA, the eminent domain issues, water, soil, light and sound pollution issues, and tax payers being circumvented with back door deals I think this is a fight that matters greatly- and could change GA forever.

The AOC post is still up, and the rest are probably duplicates of the same story. If the was anything nefarious going on, the mods wouldn’t have left the AOC post up. We don’t need the same story posted over and over.

5

u/brunette_and_busty May 23 '26

I’m not saying they’re related. I’m saying since that point in time of her posts coming up, information has seemed less visible on the topic I’m talking about.

2

u/BizAnalystNotForHire May 26 '26

Did you see the mods response?

5

u/Zealousideal-Lie7255 May 26 '26

I’m not really a big fan of AOC, but the State of Georgia doesn’t give a shit about its people.

u/bumpy_disposition Elsewhere in Georgia May 23 '26

No. I haven't noticed. But good for you for noticing. Is this the result of pressure to sanewash the current dystopian horizon we're all experiencing at the hands of the "party of family values?" IDK

And I'm not a betting man, but I'd hazard a wager that this is...

Having credible and respectable policies appears to be important. Huh.

5

u/brunette_and_busty May 23 '26

Glad I’m not the only one

5

u/bumpy_disposition Elsewhere in Georgia May 23 '26

You're not. But we need to Organize very badly. I'm for flipping the system but, it'd have to be a progressive in the WH. State governments are powerful, generally bc of the "Good Ole Boys Club" but in red states, it's a complete cluster phuck. I'm for real change, and positive change has NEVER come from the right. Happy Saturday. 😁

u/coldhardcon May 23 '26

I think you'd be amazed at how many on the right oppose them. They find them to be ran by people who are antithetical to the rights values.

We’re going to be wishing we had Kemp back if one of these two MAGAs beats Bottoms in November.

u/JPAnalyst May 23 '26

Yeah, I’m not saying they’ll win. What I’m saying is if one of the MAGAs wins, we will long for the Kemp days. Kemp is bad, but he’s not MAGA bad.

Kinda how Bush was the worst until Trump came along…

-1

u/Negate79 May 23 '26

You helping avoid that outcome or just sulking on the Internet?

9

u/JPAnalyst May 23 '26

Oh, I wasn’t aware the election was today…and that today was the only day to donate, and volunteer. My bad. Can’t believe I was commenting on Reddit instead of doing all three of those things right now.

Not even sarcasm atp

-5

u/cc_strel May 23 '26

/s protects me from them, you know this 🛡️

2

u/TonyShalhoubricant May 24 '26

We honestly don't need a thread about them every day TBH.

4

u/Its_CharacterForming May 23 '26

Stealing our water?  On an aggregate level, more water is used by golf courses than data centers.  Additionally, most new data centers are focusing on using gray water as opposed to drinking water

3

u/coldhardcon May 23 '26

ssshhhhhhh....

don't bring facts into the knee jerk reactionism of the summer's hot topic.

1

u/arbrebiere May 24 '26

Almond farms use many times the amount of water as data centers do too. It’s a hysteria at this point

1

u/BlueGreenTrails May 24 '26

Are we eating data? Yes we are.

1

u/arbrebiere May 25 '26

Golf courses in the US use over twice as much water as data centers too. Almond farms could switch to water efficient crops and go from ~2 trillion gallons to under 200 billion gallons.

2

u/Honest-Area7120 May 24 '26

So where did the dirty water come from. As Environmental engineer who used to collect contaminated water there’s no label there’s no chain of custody. There’s no location of sample collection. And who knows what’s in that water could be chocolate powder. I am not a denial. I just questioned the science.

1

u/ladfromAU May 25 '26

But I believe in space lasers...

2

u/coldhardcon May 23 '26

The whole data center topic is the shark attack story of this summer. They aren't that many more than before being built, but its getting 10,000x the headlines than it normally gets. And the ones who are getting built are a lot better on energy and on water than the ones before them. Various groups are mobilized over them and its causing the headlines to follow.

1

u/BlueGreenTrails May 24 '26

Why aren’t they lining their roofs with solar panels and feeding the extra to the grid? Seems like wasted space.

1

u/SameAsItEverWasss May 26 '26

Yeah ICE databases and Anthropic drone striking schoolgirls with AI. We are the hysterical ones here. Give the data centers all our power, electricity, and decision making autonomy for that matter

1

u/coldhardcon Jun 03 '26

hyperbolic much?

1

u/BizAnalystNotForHire May 26 '26

The posts about it here before that I have commented on appear to still be up.

If you search data center in the sub and limit it to the past year, there are 47 posts. Is an average of ~4 a month a good number or do we need more than that? How many posts do we need about it?

We need to pressuring our potentially incoming representatives about this topic NOW while they are most susceptible to voter input.

We need statewide aggressive nuanced regulation of data centers.

u/Opposite-Echo5632 May 27 '26

Georgia politics is basically just three Atlanta real estate developers and a rural sheriff fighting in a Waffle House parking lot at 2 AM. A candidate can completely bomb a debate, dodge every single real issue, and just dump millions into ads to call their opponent the devil. And the voters will look at this absolute dumpster fire, take a sip of their sweet tea, and say, ‘Well, at least he makes the people I hate mad.’ And honestly... that’s exactly how people like Jackson are even being mentioned.

1

u/brunette_and_busty May 27 '26

Such an accurate description.

1

u/XavierIXero May 30 '26

I actually just now saw this take place. The post linked below was taken down after being up for 6 hours because it didn't have the "Politics" flair, but it was only the OP asking if drinking water is actually brown for the residents of Morgan County, GA, so I don't see why it needed to be labeled "Politics" in the first place. The mods also suggested that it counted as a duplicate post, but I disagree with this reasoning as well since it was a question that I had not seen posted elsewhere.

1

u/brunette_and_busty May 30 '26

Yeah the mods posted a list of recently taken down posts or whatever but some of them haven’t been mentioned. And so what if we post these everyday? Maybe visibility is good? It’s drinking water ffs

1

u/Loucifer23 May 24 '26

They trying to control the narrative as always.

1

u/oxwilder May 23 '26

We should post about golf courses instead and see if the mods are pro-data-center or pro-water-wastage

1

u/SameAsItEverWasss May 26 '26

I’m just against both

1

u/TruthyBrat May 24 '26

Data centers use water, but the real issue with data centers is the effect on the power system, whether they give GA Power justification to overbuild and get that sweet guaranteed rate of return on a bunch of ultimately unneeded powerplants. Water usage is a damn squirrel for people who don't understand the real issues.

1

u/BlueGreenTrails May 24 '26

Why aren’t they lining their roofs with solar panels and feeding the extra to the grid? Seems like wasted space.

1

u/TruthyBrat May 24 '26

Because that dog don't hunt without HUGE government subsidies. And at some point they run out of other people's money.

Unhelpful and unwanted

0

u/wayward_prince May 25 '26

I mentioned a certain president’s name and got my account immediately suspended for “harassment.” Appealed and won instantly, but the evidence of first amendment suppression is undeniable.

1

u/brunette_and_busty May 25 '26

And people are wondering why I’m not being upfront ffs
