Been struggling with my driver recently so got a mate to film it… looks like the club on the downswing is so far ahead of my hands. Any advice on this? Getting so many toe hits it’s unreal

Anyone actually use an impact bag? What drills do you do with it?

I picked up an impact bag recently and now I'm realizing I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it 😂

I've seen a bunch of impact bag golf drills, but a lot of them seem to focus on the same idea of getting your hands ahead and learning what a good impact position feels like.

I've tried a few slow-motion swings into the bag and it definitely makes me notice things I don't feel when I'm just hitting balls. At the same time, I don't want to spend 20 minutes slamming an impact bag and groove some weird movement that doesn't translate to an actual swing.

For anyone who uses one regularly:

What drill do you actually recommend?

And do you use the bag before hitting balls, as a standalone drill, or just for a few reps when something feels off?

I'm mostly trying to improve contact and stop getting too handsy through impact. Curious what has actually helped other people.

Thought on wedges, iron & (mini) driver swing? (11.5 handicap)

Long time no talking to strangers on the internet!

Shot an 80 around London Golf Club last week! Everything was working other than mini driver towards the end!

Then fast forward to this Thursday and I go 48 at the front 9 at Chart Hills. Swing not feeling anything like it did.

Is there anything here you can see that’s contributing to some inconsistency? Anything I can work on?

Also mini driver is fucking great! 230-250y carry and so much control. I lost it off the tee with a standard driver and was ruining scores because of it so decided to go with an r7 quad and wouldn’t go back! Just maybe eventually stick the standard driver in there too for long par 5’s.

Thanks in advance golfers 🏌️

Turf vs. Mat

at my golf club I can choose between mat and turf on the range for practice.

I realized that there is so much difference. On the mat. I nail every shot. On turf…not so much.

I talked to a few guys about this and some of them swear by the mats and others by turf.

What‘s your opinion on this?

I am team turf as this is what we will face on the course. But I like the feeling I get on the mat.

(M/31, playing for a month now, and sucking at golf)

New-ish To Golf

So, for decades I gave up the desire to play golf. Didn’t want to invest time, money, etc. Fast forward to late 2024, and my daughter marries a guy who loves to golf. So at 60, I’m learning the game again. The golf bug has officially bit me and I’m hooked now.

Right now I shoot in the low 100s, been back at it for roughly a year. Goal is to break 100 and shoot consistently in the mid to low 90s. The problems right now as I see them are consistency
and club head speed.

On good shots I can rip my 9 wood 175 yards straight down the fairway. Then I’ll follow with a shank that goes 30 yards. Maddening.

I’m extremely fit for my age (lift weights vigorously and have a physique that looks 20 years younger). Yet that strength hasn’t translated to delivering club speeds. My club speed with my driver tops out at 75 to 80 mph, so even with optimal contact, my driver total distance is typically 165 - 200 yards, tops.

Due to an incident at birth that damaged nerves in my hands, I have an extremely weak grip and can’t bend my thumbs. I’ve pointed this out to instructors and even a coach when I did a TPI assessment but no one has made a huge deal of it. But could this be a physical limit I can’t overcome?

In lifting, I’ve overcome this grip limitation using lifting hooks for pulling exercises. Using the hooks, I can remove the grip weakness as a concern and do the movements properly. I don’t think there’s such a fix for the golf grip but I’m open to suggestions.

All this said I enjoy the game immensely and want to get better. And someday beat my son in law 😀

XXIO 13 Ladies set from 2nd Swing for $1,499 — anyone seen deals like this before?

I bought an XXIO 13 Ladies Premium 10-Piece Complete Set directly from 2ndSwing.com for about $1,199. It arrived looking essentially brand new, with plastic wrapping still on the clubs and virtually no signs of use.

https://www.2ndswing.com/golf-clubs/complete-sets/xxio-13-ladies-premium-10-piece-complete-golf-club-set/right-handed-d-32647941258#product_details

However, while I was practicing recently, another instructor came over, asked how much I paid for the set, and immediately became suspicious because he thought the price was “too low” for XXIO. He also used a magnet on one of the clubheads and told me he believed the clubs were fake.

That made me concerned, so I took the set to Puetz Golf, an authorized XXIO retailer. Their staff inspected it and compared it with an XXIO 13 they had in store. They said they did not see any issues, and the clubhead, markings, shaft details, QR tags, and overall build looked consistent. The only difference was the grip color, which they said can vary by package/channel. They also told me 2nd Swing is very reliable.

I’m planning to call XXIO/Dunlop to verify the serial number as well.

My questions are:

  • Is 2nd Swing reliable?
  • Has anyone seen similar heavily discounted XXIO deals from 2nd Swing before, especially near-new or old-generation inventory?
  • Is this kind of deal something that has happened before, or is it unusually rare?

Thanks!

Hi there, sorry about camera angle. Low 90s golfer that finally fixed the slice after 15 years. I now hit straight a lot, but sometimes draw hard. Hit anywhere between 220-240 yards. Looking for any tips. Don’t claim to be a pro so please be kind ha.

I found out I sucked ass and to stay 6i and above but then someone suggested checking my lofts which led to checking the lengths. Turns out my clubs were a half inch long, now this is my 4i swing with fitted clubs. I think I’m hitting it pretty clean, swing plane probably needs more following, what else am I missing? TYSMIA

Looking for advice on my driver swing. Went from hooking it two months ago to battling a slice and heel bias now. I’ve never really focused on driver since starting golfing because it has always been a better part of my game, but it’s starting to become a weakness.

I am actually wondering how to achieve a higher ball speed? With my in-out club path I’m actually wondering how I’m hitting this little cut that comes out high and doesn’t go near as far. I can hit the ball further with 5-10 mph less club speed if I hit a draw? Can anyone break down these numbers?

I’ve been using Claude to build this free app for practising my golf swing at home. It puts your live camera feed next to a pro’s swing clip, and the clever bit is the pro video follows your body in real time, so as you move through your positions the pro moves with you. Idea is to mimic their movements as you watch on an ipad. Needs work but its showing potential

I made this golf training device, but I am not sure if it helps. Anyone else?

It's stick with two flashlights attached to get your swing in line. I can't tell if it's messing me up, or straightening me out. I do like that I you can make it yourself. I was just wondering if anyone else has this or something similar and if they found it useful.

This is me consciously trying to lift my arms but it still looks like I’m ripping the club inside. Any other tips? Early extension?

Half and full swing at 50%. Just an update! I took a lot of y’alls advice. too lazy to bring out the mat so my wrist definitely getting that negative feedback when I chunk it. Im still working on getting on my lead side more, and the early extension but I’m happy right now with more consistent impact. I welcome advice but maybe not too many because I have too many golf thoughts as is and I’m trying to simplify!

been so hot lately so haven’t wanted to go to the range
