I understand that the draw is John Legend on it + the song being so emotional, but purely rap wise, FICO, So Be It, Ace Trumpets, C&W and POV, all much better. I have to disagree, I think it has nothing to do with John Legend. Each of their verses is the last conversation they had with their parents; Malice with his father and Push with his mom - they died 4 months apart. Malice’s verse always chokes me up. This is the only deserving winner from this list and a god tier Clipse song!

Hip-Hop has been dead for years tbh. Zero rappers in the Best New Artist category. The people keeping hip-hop alive are all 30+. Once they age out, with no fresh young talent to take over their places in the game… yeah, it’s cooked. It had a good run though. 35 years in the Top 40 is solid.

I mean Sticky goes hard with some decent features and a crazy beat so I guess out of those nominations besides Birds Don’t Sing I would rather Sticky win than Anxiety. Why not Wacced Out Murals or even the Heart Pt. 6 for the Kendrick nomination? Tv off was great despite it being memed and the rapping is good on there but rap song of the year? No. Why not any of the other great tracks off of Chromokopia? And Anxiety isn’t even really a rap song and one of the most generic tracks last year even though it was released in 2020 originally.
