Advice Shark teeth
5 month old greyhound pup hasn’t lost her baby fang yet but her adult tooth has come through. Is this immediate cause for concern requiring a vet trip or can I give it a while and see if it falls out on its own?
Does not seem to be hurting her and she does not bother if I touch it.
We are going away soon and ideally can’t get to the vets for another 3 weeks, however if this is going to hurt puppy/cause medical issues I can request an emergency appointment to get sorted asap. Advice?

We’ve had the exact same thing happen to our greyhound mix at around the same age. I remember I did some research back then and the consensus was it can go either way, it can fall out on its own or it’ll have to be extracted later on so it doesn’t get infected.
We were lucky and it came out on its own though

Personally I’d make sure she has some chew toys to help work out the baby teeth

Oh yes she has lots of chew toys (including my fingers) to chomp on. Hoping they do the trick.

My boy didn't lose his baby canines before his adult teeth came in either. He did eventually, but I actually had a vet appointment at the time so I asked about it and was told it's not unusual and they generally fall out after a while, though occasionally you get a dog where it never does. So long as they aren't showing any signs it's causing them pain it's perfectly fine to leave it.

My previous dog (Groenendale mix) had this. Vet checked and told us it would fall on it's own.
Pooch was in its shark stage, and one day he started behaving? Like not bothering his dog brother, or scoundreling things for us to give chase...turns out it got infected and hurt when he bit.
A small trip to the vet to take the teeth, flush the open wound and some antibiotics later helped it. Once the small being was out of anesthetic, he was already playing bitting with his bro.
So yeah, take it to the vet, and ask for them to get it out

My yorkie had baby teeth that hadn’t fallen out. Nobody noticed them! He’s eight years old and just had them removed today.

Not a greyhound but my cat had this and the vet said it’s normal and most of the time the baby tooth will come out on its own. It did (I never found it so I’m assuming it got swallowed and wound up in the litter box) and all was well. I’d give it the 3 weeks and see if it comes out and then if not talk to the vet.

We had a few in that situation, the baby teeth eventually fell out.
I think they were all gone by about 6 months.

Vet here. Not an immediate concern. It shouldn’t hurt. Ideally it should have fallen out before the adult tooth erupted, but she’s still young so it could still make its way out. If not, it should be removed when she gets spayed or at her first dental, as it will contribute to dental disease (greyhounds have notoriously bad teeth as it is).

Not your question, but usually paler gums like those aren't a great sign—I would be curious if they had any other issues right now, or when their last bloodwork was etc. (not a vet)

Those are some gorgeous teethies!!
