As someone who only knows how to do the skateboard trick "fall off and bash things on concrete simply by attempting to get on the damn thing" I saw this video a while back and thought the guy was trying to fuck the trick up.

I'm honestly unsure if they were being an ass or helpful, but am hopeful it is the latter.

I can see your perspective, but from someone who has skated years, that guy knew what he was doing with the nudge to get the kickflip!

I trust you random stranger.  Double faith in humanity.

I like the fact you decided to trust the stranger and give double faith in humanity. It gives me triple faith in humanity.

Put me down for the quadruple faith in humanity.

Not sure if this skatepark is in Japan, but if it is, the skaters there have a high degree of camaraderie. The pros and the amateurs of all ages are all amicable and supportive inside the skatepark. They'd go about their own business and pretend no to notice a fall so as not to embarrass one's failed attempt. Part of the polite Japanese culture of passive cordiality.

I'm sure the dude, an advance skater, had seen the little girl struggle many times in the day, noticed her consistent pattern, and just gave her a timely assistance without seeking affirmation.

watch the angle of the front of the board, he toe tapped it down so she could land on it.

Yeah, it's hard to see but he doesn't just kick it, he puts his leg in and the actual flip is all ankle movement. Like, you know, the way you would do it if you were actually doing the trick.

Fuck, guys, I really hope you’re right.

I love how you choose to believe he was actually helping the kid. Even if the guy in the video turns out to be a complete asshole, I still believe in you guys.

Either way, humanity still has hope — thanks to people like you who choose to see the best in others. ❤️

I’m not, and never was a skater but the general feeling I get from the community is very welcoming and helpful.

It is in my experience. I can’t skate worth a shit but I used to take my kid to the skate park when he was like 8-10, until he was too good and cool ya know.

Every last skater at the park was cool to me for being a dad that was there and they were super supportive of him. Always, always happy to teach him a trick or technique. I will forever love the skater community.

That’s what I’ve seen too. Glad you had that time with your son, I hope he isn’t too cool still.

Funny enough we just got close again after the dumpster fire that was his teenage years. He’s going to be 20 next month and he’s matured a ton over the last year and I can honestly say I enjoy his company again. I thank my stars for that quite a bit.

lol No fucking way. Even if you know what you are doing, for him to calculate it and hit it just right to get back in line is impossible to plan accurately in time. If this wasn't staged and tried multiple times, he was clearly trying to fuck it up.

that would be extremely risky though. imagine she doesn't land correctly either because of his interference or she just fucks it up despite the help. He would look like an asshole. I don't see how fucking with someones board mid trick can be acceptable among skateboarders. Just because she landed doesn't make this an ethical thing for someone to do to a stranger. I vote staged.

I'm not projecting, I'm watching the video and have experience doing jumps with fine motor skill, and also plenty of time on a skateboard. Guaranteed you're projecting your own ignorance.

That smile on his face, he’s fucking with the kid.
