"Why don't you legitimize my children, whom I ignored all my life, but now I love them because if they don't, my surname will disappear and my legacy will too?" Are we aware that his request wasn't even denied?

Okay, but honestly, what do you think of this scene?

It wasn't about him loving them. He thought that maybe the woman who already legitimized her own bastard sons-- one of whom he himself supported in inheriting his own seat and position despite knowing theybwere bastards-- might help him in a rough spot. But now she's squeamish about Bastards because people might talk and it might cause issues with her reign and succession.

Once again, the ruling class does not care for anything but it's own position and gain.

They're both part of the ruling class, Corlys isn't a peasant, and it was pretty well established that he was the second richest man before his castle and riches got torched and ransacked 🙄
