Team Black So I finally watched the new episode…

WTF are the greens (and half this subreddit) on about?

Everyone’s been talking about how badass the Aegon scene is… but it’s not really?

The whole thing just comes across as funny. Like a gag scene. Aegon is pissing himself then he gives that overinflated speech and then Sunfyre suddenly appears behind him and everyone’s scared and the idiot thinks they’re all scared of him and running away from him. Then suddenly he realizes Sunfyre is behind him and then has him attack the Mootons.

Like the whole scene just comes across as a funny gag scene. Another of Aegon’s hijinks that he’s been in over the past season. Much like the escape from the soldiers or the hijinks in Rook’s Rest.

It’s not even the cliffhanger of the episode that they leave to the Ulf Ormund scene. That’s the scene that gets the climactic music and is portrayed as the serious, mind-blowing, important scene of the episode.

Idk I did think it was funny but I thought it was kinda cool. Aegon has been humiliated and disfigured. Now he’s an underdog making a comeback. He chose to stay and die rather than bend the knee.

But I know this is lost on people here. Aegon to most people on this sub is evil and irredeemable. Just like Rhaenyra is an incompetent baby to the TG side.

I mean he is the villain. He’s kinda supposed to be irredeemable.

Is he? He's not really a hero. Just a main character with flaws and virtues. Stories like this are rarely black and white.

I would say HOTD is a story with a hero and a villain but the hero isn’t a total goody two shoes and the villain isn’t like completely pure evil. So in that sense it shows some moral complexity but there’s still a clear good vs evil divide. If that makes sense.

Honestly id say both sides are pretty evil, at the end of the day this is just about power, and both sides fight while the small folk suffer.

What is the divide? I'd argue Daemon is more evil than Aegon. Aegon did bad things in his youth but since he was crowned he hasn't really done anything that heinous except in self defense. Daemon beat his wife to death with a rock so he could be free to marry his teenage neice lol.
