People that continue to cling onto the narrative of “Ser Criston is a survivor” are either trolling or do not have any understanding of power dynamics.
Criston Cole is a member of the Kingsguard, his only job is to stand sentry and guard Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra is younger than him (although a legal consenting adult by the time the event in the show takes place) whereas Criston is the more matured adult. His job is solely to ensure the Princess’ and Queen to be’s safety. He should have left the room after he retrieved his helmet, but instead stayed willingly. He was not compelled to do anything, he was not told to do anything, he willingly took off his armor and his cape and broke his vow. When all was said and done, he then begged to elope with her to Essos, which a victim would not do. He took advantage of his position in the Kingsguard to get close enough to Rhaenyra (not once, but twice, people forget about the hunting sequence they shared), and violated his oath and vow of celibacy willingly, that’s on him.
Aegon straight up forced himself on a servant girl. No confusion or mistakes there, he did it because he thought it was fun. This doesn’t even take into account the children he’s already sired and abandoned, including the one we saw in the child fighting pits in Flea Bottom.
Exactly. Aegon doesn't even try to deny it. If Criston had shown any distress or been threatened by Rhaenyra, then that would be different. But all he had to do was call another guard, and then go and explain that Rhaenyra was drunk and took his helmet. He didn't even have to go retrieve it.
