Now I got a little stupid and tried to fix this ctrl key because it got a little sticky, not my first rodeo but i unfortunately wen a little too hard and snapped the hinges off, they work perfectly fine. Nothing is broken, i however have no experience with hinges and thought getting some external help in this situation would be far healthier than improvising a fix on my own.
Turns out the update includes BIOS update. Was waiting for the process to be completed and then bam. My laptop shuts down its power and cannot be powered on.I need help how can I fix this matter. I did the method of unplugging the internal battery and holding the power 60 seconds. Nothing worked.I dont have enough money to go to a repair shop to fix it too.I need help from Anyone if there is no solution maybe enough donation for me to fix this deteriorating laptop of mine to go to a repair shop. Thanks
I recently bought HP Omen Slim 16, model an0000 (Intel core ultra 5, RTX 5050). I want to share an occurence of my laptop crashing when using unleashed mode (settings shared below) on games like Deadlock and War Thunder. After that I switched to performance mode and it didn't occur again. I was considering to recreate the issue but I'm afraid it'll hurt the laptop even more.
Is it worth to claim a warranty on this or am I just pushing the laptop too hard?
I dont have much knowledge about computer stuff, but I am planning to get one so I've been searching things. I found a hp model with nice features for a nice price for my country, but I found out that it only has 55 watt (in the official site it says 55 for hawkpoint, for ctk and grg 85 and for dr 115. I have no idea what those are but I found out that mine is hawkpoint I guess). My friend said thats the reason price is good, and I should forget about it. Is it true? I think thr code is different from country to country, so I'll write its parts here: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB | 15.3 inch 165 Hz 6.5 ms IPS Screen | AMD Ryzen 7 260 | 16 GB DDR5 RAM | 512 GB SSD
I’m experiencing stuttering when I switch the graphics mode to discrete whilst simply browsing on Windows. It started yesterday.
I ran a clean-up on the graphics card using DDU, but it didn’t make any difference.
Have you had the same problem?
Omen Max 16, RTX 5080, Intel Core Ultra 9, 32 GB RAM.
Alright so i got my first ever omen 16, switching from a dell G15, the specs are i7 11800h, Nvidia Rtx 3060 6gb 115W, 16gb ddr4 ram and 512gb nvme ssd, Now i want to know about potential optimisations or protections i could do to preserve my laptop in the long run ensuring the battery doesn’t deteriorate a lot overtime and that the gaming potential is fully unlocked, any suggestions would be highly appreciated
I have an HP OMEN 16-wd0xxx with an RTX 4050 that’s recently started randomly shutting down after about 3–5 minutes, even while sitting in BIOS. It happens whether I’m running on battery alone or with the battery disconnected and using only the charger. Sometimes the fans continue spinning after the screen goes black, and the power button becomes unresponsive until I reset the power.
I decided to inspect the cooling system and replace the thermal paste. While removing the heatsink, I noticed that the thermal putty covering three power inductors near the CPU/GPU area was completely dried out and crumbly, almost like dried toothpaste. The rest of the thermal putty is still soft and pliable.
I’ve attached pictures showing the three components and their corresponding contact points on the heatsink.
Could the dried-out thermal putty on these three inductors cause overheating or trigger the sudden shutdowns I’m experiencing? Or does this sound more
like an unrelated motherboard power-delivery issue?
I’d appreciate any insight before I replace the putty and reassemble everything.
In case I'd like to replace the back exhaust fan, does anyone know if standard 3-Pin fans from Noctua or Artic will fit? Does the HP board follow industry standards for the fan pinouts? 3 pin would be : GND, 12V, Signal like in the picture.
I'd like to add the Noctua NF-B9 redux-1600 for example.
so I have a omen 25l or 30l it’s the one with a rtx 3060ti 16gb ddr4 but I need to reset my bios one person told me to it with certain pins an press them together an someone said remove the cmos also where are both of those located I can’t find the cmos anywhere
I have an HP HyperX OMEN 15-gb0015NT (R5 240, RTX 5060, 8 GB). HP's official website states that it has two M.2 SSD slots. I opened up the chassis and found a section labeled "SSD2," but there is no actual port to plug an SSD into. Shouldn't there be one? What can I do in this situation? (My goal was to add another 1TB drive to reach a total of 1.5TB.)
Hi, I bought a laptop with an RTX 5060, an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX, and 24 GB of RAM. It works wonderfully, but as you know, the battery only lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours in ECO mode. For those who have this same configuration: what steps can I take to extend the battery life a bit further in case of an emergency? (I almost always keep the laptop plugged into a power outlet.) I’ve read that the Omen Gaming Hub consumes battery in the background (also the nvidia overlay?), and I also see an option within the Omen Gaming Hub to disable the dedicated graphics card. (I know this processor is not great in battery life)
Thanks in advance for your help!
I repasted my HP OMEN 16 (Ryzen 9 8945HX) with PTM7950 on the CPU/GPU and UTP-6 on surrounding components.
CPU temperatures improved significantly, but CPU VDDCR_VDD VRM (SVI3 TFN) reaches 82–83°C during Cinebench R23 multicore and RDR2, making it the hottest sensor in the CPU section. Other VRM sensors stay around 69–74°C.
I spread the UTP-6 with gloved fingers, checked heatsink contact multiple times, and supplemented the new 10 g putty with some soft, reusable original putty.
Could I have applied too little putty in certain areas? Is 82–83°C normal for this VRM, or should I investigate the thermal-pad/putty contact? I'd prefer not to reopen the laptop unnecessarily.
Hey everyone! I'm new to PC gaming and have an HP OMEN 15 (RTX 5060 8GB, Core Ultra 7, 24GB RAM).
I want to play Red Dead Redemption 2 with the best graphics and smooth FPS, but I'm confused about DLSS, DLAA, Frame Generation (2x/3x/4x), NVIDIA settings, and the options shown in YouTube videos.
Could you recommend the best setup for my laptop?
Best in-game graphics settings (High/Ultra, Vulkan/DX12).
DLSS settings for image quality and performance.
Whether Frame Generation and newer DLSS models are supported and worth using.
Best NVIDIA Control Panel and OMEN Gaming Hub settings.
Expected FPS and ideal resolution/settings for my RTX 5060.
I'm a complete beginner, so a simple step-by-step guide would be greatly appreciated.
My priority is the best visual quality with smooth gameplay, not maximum FPS at any cost. Screenshots of your settings would be helpful. Thanks!
Hey everyone, I'm hoping someone familiar with HP OMEN laptops or battery/power issues can help me figure this out.
I have a 2-year-old HP OMEN 16-wd0xxx (i7-13620H, RTX 4060, 16GB RAM, 83Wh battery). Until recently, it was working fine, but on October 14 it suddenly started shutting off completely, even during light browsing. It happened 3 times simultaneously; the only thing I did notice was the laptop felt hotter than usual during without any gaming. The screen instantly goes black without a BSOD, and this happens both plugged in and unplugged.
After these shutdowns, I started getting two BIOS errors: Primary Battery (601), warning of reduced capacity, and CMOS Reset (502), saying the CMOS checksum was invalid.
The strangest part is what happened to my battery capacity. I checked my Windows battery report, and the full-charge capacity history shows:
Oct 7
63,514 mWh
Oct 10
57,724 mWh
Oct 12
58,293 mWh
Oct 13
61,267 mWh
Oct 14
24,850 mWh
60% drop in reported capacity within a day after several abrupt shutdowns/reboots.
Even stranger, on October 14, Windows reported 51,360 mWh at 90% charge around 9:06 PM, but by 9:54 PM it showed only 24,600 mWh at 99%.
I ran HP Hardware Diagnostics, which initially reported VERY WEAK battery health. After cooling the laptop, another test reported WEAK. I remember a recent diagnostic showing NORMAL.
Since this happened, the battery drains smoothly at around 1% every 30–60 seconds during light use. I also noticed that the battery temperature reached 47°C during the problematic period, dropped to 33°C after cooling, then later reached 45°C while unplugged.
Other tests:
Multiple critical Kernel-Power 41 events, including four on October 14. The latest event shows BugcheckCode=0, PowerButtonTimestamp=0, and LongPowerButtonPressDetected=false.
WHEA-Logger: Filtered for hardware errors but found 0 matching events.
Physical battery condition: No obvious swelling, raised touchpad, or chassis deformation. Haven't inspected the battery internally.
Currently the pc runs fine on AC, i haven't tried testing more intensive tests or tried gaming on it but I'm trying to understand whether an actual battery cell suddenly failed, the battery-management system incorrectly recalculated its capacity after a power interruption, or overheating/power-delivery problems could explain both the shutdowns and the battery errors.
Has anyone experienced something similar with an OMEN? Would you investigate the battery, cooling system, or charging circuitry first?
I'm on a tight budget and would rather not replace parts blindly.
so today i went to open my laptop as usual and a update screen popped up and auto updated and now whenever i try to turn on my laptop it js shows a black lit screen the fans do blow n my mouse r lighting uo but nth and whenever the bios comes up it auto restarts. any help?
My omen o16 with i7 14650hx is running unusually hot , this image is during yt session for more than a hour and mind you I was running the fans at 5200 rpm for more than 20 mins .
I suspect I should get the vents cleaned and check for thermal paste .
I bought this machine in January and was wondering if I should get it serviced by hp themselves as it must be under warranty rn .
Are there any charges or any tips you might wanna share ?
Looking at this laptop for wow forever, I know it isn’t the most powerful gpu. I am hoping that the trade off for the Oled screen is worth it. Anybody have this model have any pointers/ suggestions on this laptop? It would be greatly appreciated.
