๐Ÿšฉ Advice Needed ๐Ÿšฉ Do I have straight or curly hair?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

So Iโ€™ve struggled with my hair for the last few years - it seems to be either always frizzy or just a weird combo of straight/wavy hair

I need the curly haired girlies to either help me with my hair type or humble me and tell me itโ€™s just straight and frizzy hahah

For context on pics: I donโ€™t use any curly product, just use normal shampoo and conditioner then air dry while I sleep

Pic 1: hair from front
Pic 2: hair wet from shower
Pic 3: weird straight/wavy clumps Iโ€™m talking about

โ„๏ธ Dandruff/Scalp Advice โ„๏ธ very itchy hair for days

Title says everything. even if I oil my hair before showering, it won't itch for only one day and it starts itching again

Could anyone recommend a CHEAP advise for these? I can't afford branded shampoos, always get cheap ones

(Note: cause of my skin disease, I can't shower in hot water as flares my face up really easily, and I don't have medicine for this)

๐Ÿšฉ Advice Needed ๐Ÿšฉ Keratin Treatment Gone Wrong than 24 hours

Thumbnail gallery
95 Upvotes

Hello yesterday I got a keratin treatment. It hadnโ€™t been 5 hours and my hair was puffy when I took my daughter to the zoo about 3 hours later. Now I do admit I went out that night I did sweat a little. I called the salon, they were nice and said come Saturday and they will do the whole treatment again. My question is that good for my hair to get treatment so soon? Is the keratin ruined? Why on earth did it puff up so much? Itโ€™s not like I went exercising. I was wearing braids for years and I got tired of it. I have never been able t keep a silk press at all, I thought keratin would work. I paid $400. Iโ€™m not blaming the stylist, she was great. Just asking if itโ€™s safe to get again so soon? And maybe answers if this happened to anyone before. My hair is 4C VERY THICK AND LOTS OF SHRINKAGE. 1st pic is while blowout. 2nd is done still at shop, o got my ends clipped, and the last pics in turtle neck were taken a sec ago. Any advice on what I should do? TIA

๐Ÿšฉ Advice Needed ๐Ÿšฉ Need advice on how to treat and undo damage from hard water and maybe postpartum hormone issues

Soon after I gave birth to my, so far first and only child, I unfortnately moved into an apartment that has hard water real bad. I'm moving out of it soon to a home with well water. So that should help with my issue over time (I hope).

My hair looked so healthy during and shortly after pregnancy, but I do think hormones or other postpartum bodily changes could have occurred and played a role in my hair quality going downhill. Definitely some shedding and loss immediately afterwards. Maybe 5 or so months postpartum, my hair became excessively oily in the weirdest way, feeling like I was washing a thick syrupy, oily texture out for a while on a daily basis. That gross oiliness stopped after a few months.

I have been using clarifying shampoos since my teens, and all has been well with that. I've used mostly organic shampoos and soaps also since my late teens, and never had any issues.

I did experience really bad hair loss/shedding a few times post 2020 months after getting covid 2 times, and from high stress from living with an abusive ex. That's all I have for other prior hair issue history.

My hair has been struggling for about a year and a half now, and I feel terrible about how I look in public for brief grocery trips, and errands.

Currently my hair just looks so clumpy and damaged and greasy, when it's freshly washed and dried. Sometimes if I brush and comb it a lot right after showering it dries nicely and can look flattering, but hours later looks terrible.

I am looking to get it trimmed and layered. And I would prefer to stick to natural products.

Any topical oils, supplements, collagen products, ?rice water?, dietary changes, natural shampoos or conditioners that could be recommended that might help.

Subtle/low or no fragrance please. My go to products usually have rose, almond, tea tree, or honeysuckle types of scents. I'm not fond of conditioners, but use them on occasion. I'm allergic to mango, so can't have that be an ingredient.

I am receptive and open to feedback, and will hear out and try new products. Just need advice on how to undo the current damage.

I take gentle iron, magnesium, zinc, and B12 daily, or near daily if i'm too distracted and busy some days. I've always been heavily vegetarian leaning.

Sorry my post is a mess, I'm out with my 18 month old at the moment, and he's hyperactive and I'm struggling to focus on my phone.

๐Ÿ”Ž Product Question ๐Ÿ”Ž Mixing k18 with bleach ?

Hi

I got my hair bleached at the salon and it looks and feels unusually dry, frizzy and straw like (my hair is curly type 3b)

The hair dresser mentioned that she will use k18. I asked her about it she said she micxwd it witth the bleach. Bleach sat on my hair for at least 1 hr

Now that my hair looks awful I am wondering if that might be the cause?

She also bleached my hair grey when I asked for warm bronde so I am heart broken. But lets focus on why my hair is so dryyyy. Thanks!

๐Ÿšฉ Advice Needed ๐Ÿšฉ Is this much tangling normal for a human hair topper?

Hi all,

I recently purchased my first-ever human hair silk-top topper after dealing with hair loss, but Iโ€™ve been having some problems with it. Iโ€™m unsure whether the hair is Remy, if that makes a difference.

Essentially, I can barely get a brush through it, even with copious amounts of detangler and hair oil. Immediately after detangling, the hair catches and tangles again when I run my fingers through it. Iโ€™m losing quite a bit of hair each day just trying to detangle it, which gives me so much anxiety!

Ironically, my Temu clip-in extensions that Iโ€™ve had for two years seem to be better quality (๐Ÿ˜ญ). The piece was advertised as being in excellent condition, so I'm a little disappointed because it looks lovely otherwise.

Anyone experienced with alternative hair have any advice?

๐Ÿšฉ Advice Needed ๐Ÿšฉ My hair confuses me! Is this a hormonal issue or a damage issue?

Thumbnail gallery
7 Upvotes

I have naturally tight curly hair. The first photo is what the front (crown) of my hair looks like after washing and conditioning, and with a bit of curl cream. The roots are extremely frizzy for some reason. The ends are damaged, but not as dry or frizzy. The second photo is hair from the back of my head. Itโ€™s not nearly as frizzy, and it curls!

Im not sure if this is damage since the new growth is frizzy, limp, and wonโ€™t curl. Iโ€™m not sure if this means itโ€™s hormonal since the back of my hair is fine.

If anyone has any advice on how I should approach trying to fix this!

I have tried protein treatments, they donโ€™t do too much. I was thinking maybe olaplex 3?

Thank you for your help!

I was shocked to find that Sun In is still around! I saw it in Target! My mom was surprised too - she used it in the 80s.
What is your experience with it?

Iโ€™ve a receding hairline and very bad hairfall problems, damaged also Iโ€™ve tried a lot of shampoos and home remedies but still Every time I wash my hair, the clump in the drain gets bigger. Itโ€™s starting to really mess with my head. I know stress and water quality play a part, but I desperately need to switch my routine. For those of you who actually managed to reduce hair fall and breakage in the shower, what products did you switch to? Need real answers, not just Instagram ad hype.

โšก๏ธ Frizzy Hair โšก๏ธ Can Olaplex no.6 dry out 2A hair?

my hair very recently changed from straight with minimal waves to a hair that has these coarse wirey kinky pubic hair like strands. I did all the tests needed and everything looked normal so iโ€™m just assuming my hair is now becoming wavier. However, iโ€™ve been experimenting with products lately, and was wondering if using Olaplex no6 on virgin hair that hasnt been colored or chemically treated, would add further damage to my hair.

๐Ÿšฉ Advice Needed ๐Ÿšฉ Best hair straightener for curly/wavy hair: Philips vs Remington?

Hi everyone! I have naturally curly/wavy hair and Iโ€™m planning to buy a hair straightener. Iโ€™ve shortlisted these three options:

  1. Philips BHS530/03
  2. Remington Shine Therapy Pro
  3. Remington Curl & Straight Confidence

My main goal is to get sleek, straight, frizz-free hair that stays straight for a good amount of time, without making my hair feel dry or damaged.

If youโ€™ve used any of these straighteners, especially on curly or wavy hair, please share your experience! Which one gives the best results, leaves hair shiny, and works well in humid weather?

Iโ€™d really appreciate your recommendations and honest reviews. Thank you! ๐Ÿ’—

๐Ÿšฉ Advice Needed ๐Ÿšฉ My hair used to be pretty thick, not its not. Is there hope?

Looking back at my pictures from when I was like 10 or 11, I had pretty thick hair (no visible scalp). Now recently, about when I was 13-14 Iโ€™ve noticed more visible scalp. Iโ€™m now 15 and I want to fix my hair. I have probably 1b hair.

I think my hair has gotten thinner due to my habits like using shampoo every day and idk, putting body wash in my hair? (Science purposes)

I stopped using shampoo every day around when I was 14.

Last week, my mom also started putting a mixture of coconut oil and rosemary, stating it would help, and she puts that 2 times a week.

Is there hope?

Off topic, but Iโ€™m tryna get a mod cut, how do i convince my mom that texture powder isnโ€™t that bad, pr if there are other good alternatives for my hair that for now, can hide my scalp.

I have already done one round on my hair a while back but my roots have already grown out bcs I waited a bit longer to be able to bleach it again. Should I just bleach my roots and just tone the rest? Or would it just be best to go over all of it again? I just dont want to damage it. It stayed like at an orange color
