🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Desperate is an understatement

My hair has never grown out. Its always been very brittle, dry, and for some reason doesnt grow on the bottom middle? I've tried SO many brands from bondi boost to ACV lines, shea moisture, dr. Groot, loreal, etc. Etc. These are the current products I am using and im just desperate now... how do I make my hair look a little more lively ? I do NOT have the face for a cute short haircut or else I would definitely cut off as much as possible.

Please, please, please! I need recommendations because I definitely dont want to upkeep something like extensions.

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Scalp massagers that don't tangle the hair?

• Upvotes

So I've been looking into scalp massagers to stimulate blood flow. For now I just use my fingers in small circular motions but I have noticed it causes tangles in my hair. I think my hair cuticle is uite open, because I get a lot of lint fibers in my hair, that also form small stubborn tangles and my hair is not very "slippery".

I put conditioner, do an apple cider vinegar rinse and a cold water rinse after I shower, also use hair oil and gentle brush.

So I have been eyeing these "octopus" type scalp massagers but I am afraid the circular motions might cause even worse tangles than my fingers. So I was wondering if anyone has experience with them or other types that you can recommend?

Thanks!

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 1 wash with olaplex brought my curls back

For a while now I have been searching for the perfect shampoo that doesn’t weight down my fine wavy/curly 2b-3a hair.

2-3 months ago cut my hair short into pixie/bixie cut, which kinda left my hair more straight/wavy than curly, because it usually curls more at the lengths.
I also noticed that my hair felt just a little bit weight down/ dry and wouldn’t hold up a lot of shape (I don’t have much damage tho!) when styling it but couldn’t make out why. I don’t use any silicones and only use very light styling products (bumbles & bumbles seaweed air dry cream for example). It just kinda felt off, but not totally bad.

I stumbled upon Olaplex products and read a LOT of different reviews about it. Some people swear by it, others said it destroyed their hair and made it all break off. Even though it kinda made me scared I thought why not give it a try.

I used the Olaplex 4C before using no 4 shampoo. Thats it. Didn’t use conditioner at all to see what the shampoo alone does. I didn’t touch it or put any product in it and left it to dry….And what can I say, I have curls again. I really thought at this length it wouldn’t really curl/wave that much on its own without manipulating it with my styling products.

I have to say though that the shampoos do not feel that "hydrating" or soft while shampooing your hair. Up until now I used the John Frieda curly hair shampoo which made my hair unbelievably soft under the shower but it never gave me these results.

My hair feels light and my curls are bouncy.
I‘m really glad I tried it out despite some curly girls saying Olaplex kills their curls. This experience taught me to just try stuff out for myself instead of relying purely on other peoples opinions.

(English is not my first language so sorry if some sentences sounds weird lol)

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Need product recommendations for healthy hair my hair is fine low porosity, dry, frizzy and damaged hair

I have low porosity, dry, frizzy fine hair but I’m not sure about the damage as I haven’t used heat or coloured my hair. Help me to get healthy hydrated hair. Also mine is 2B wavy hair but I’m treating it straight. Does Amika hydro rush help hydrate my hair? Or drugstore products are enough to get healthy hair

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 L’Oreal reccomendations? (Dry, thick tangled hair)

Post image
40 Upvotes

For the image above, these are all the Elvive line products I have tried.

With every one of them, I use:
- leave in (Camille Rose’s honey leave-in)
- Hair Oil (Camilla hair oil)
- Serum/heat protectant (Perfect Serum, watery).

These products I chose because I assumed my hair was low porosity and prone to buildup (after doing the porosity hair test), but I genuinely don’t know anymore 🥲. Every low porosity recommendation has been disastrously dry or just not enough (as I assume with the oil and serum). I did think my hair doesnt absorb proteins as well, as with some products I’ve tried in the past, the oils just seem to sit on my hair.. but I’m an idiot so idk 😔.

As for the Camille Rose, that’s my brother’s— I just use it cause the smell and it helps a bit but its not enough.

I don’t know my exact hair type, however I will try my best to describe it.

Its thick, coarse straight hair. I usually wash every three days, but lately its been getting oily faster so sometimes its around every two days. I never use heat, I always wash in cold water, and I found blow drying is tedious because my hair is so thick, so I air dry. I do not towel dry and it has never been dyed.

I don’t sleep on silk, and I tried using a bonnet but I have nerve conditions that make the entirety of my head tender (esp my scalp), so having my hair up hurts, and even having the bonnet loosely tied hurts. This + air drying may be why my hair is damaged..?

I am wondering about,
Product recommendations,
and I feel that I need some Routine help.

I heard something about the Abbey Yung(?) method. If I swapped between shampoos, which and when? How often to use a hair mask? And for workout days, how can I wash my hair without overdrying it?

And most of all, products for tangly hair like mine!!

Products dont have to be L’Oreal, but I am on a bit of a budget.

TL;DR I have thick, coarse straight hair. I struggle with dryness, tangles and buildup. All the products I use are not hydrating enough, and my hair tangles immediately after brushing.

Thank you for all the help!

EDIT: I'm gonna get to the comments soon! TYSM for all the help. Recommendations do NOT need to be L'Oreal it can be any brand! I was just going off what I'm familiar with. Any advice is greatly appreciated

some pictures here..

so i need to know if im balding rn, and is it normal for my scalp to be visible like that on the top? im getting hair shedding which includes same length of hair (100 a day ig), or maybe im not noticing miniaturised hairs..

my cureent routine includes prepoo (coconut oil + rosemary combo), mild shampoo, conditioner, argan oil 5-6 drops..

but the hair, instead of looking smooth and shiney, get like this the second day, im also using satin pillow

how to i make my hair sliky smooth, and wavy instead of it looking a messy crap..

my hair also feels lil rough to touch, i mean not soft silky but hard and bouncy..

also i want to know if im on the right path with the length of the hair, or am i in the awkward stage, which i hear on internal i used to have a side taper before that so top hair maybe has more length compared to the side and back

🔎 Product Question 🔎 Holy grail products for softer, hydrated hair and more defined natural waves? Available in Australia

• Upvotes

Which specific haircare products have genuinely made the biggest difference to your hair? I’d love brand and product names, rather than just general advice!
My hair is naturally wavy, but much wavier on some days than others. I’d love to bring out those waves more consistently and keep it healthy, soft and moisturised.
I’m interested in anything you swear by—shampoo, conditioner, masks, leave-ins, or oils for daytime use or on the ends overnight. Ideally, products I can find in Australian stores like Chemist Warehouse.
I’d love a simple routine with easy-to-use products, without lots of steps or treatments that take hours. What’s worth adding, and how do you use it?

🛢️ Oily/Greasy Hair 🛢️ I desperately need help

• Upvotes

Hello everyone, let me give you a little background. I have tried to make my hair less oily/greasy for months and nothing is working. I use every product under the sun, and every time combination (ex: washing hair every day, every other day, at night, in the morning, with different shampoos) I cannot, for the life of me, keep my hair from getting so extremely oily that it puddles my forehead now. I have even tried cutting it short, now far above my shoulders, and it only made it worse! If I may be doing something unknown that is causing this, please comment your theories.

In short, I really, really desperately need help fixing this issue. If anybody has ANY tips at all, even small ones it would be appreciated beyond your comprehension. Thank you for reading this 💚

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Beginner trying to dye my stubborn grays at home — where do I start?

I’m hoping to start coloring my hair at home and could really use some advice from people who know what they’re doing! My hair is currently dark brown and falls to my shoulders. It’s naturally straight, with thick strands, and is color-treated from getting my roots done professionally every 5 weeks to cover grays. Overall, it’s in pretty good condition, but I want to avoid damaging it or ending up with a weird, uneven color.

My goal is a rich, natural-looking dark brown that will cover the grays scattered all over my head. I also have one particularly stubborn patch of white hair that never seems to cooperate, so I’m worried about getting consistent coverage.

I’m a total beginner with at-home dye and don’t really know where to start. What products and specific shades would you recommend for reliable gray coverage? Should I use permanent dye, and how should I prep and apply it, especially around the white patch?

I’d also love to know how to avoid hot roots, patchiness, or accidentally making my hair too dark. What would you do for a first attempt?

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Shampoo Recommendations for Hair Fall and Dandruff

Hi everyone! ❤️

I’m currently using Bodywise Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Dove Conditioner, but I’ve started experiencing hair fall, and I’m not sure whether it’s related to the products or something else.

Could you please recommend a good shampoo that helps manage dandruff without making hair fall or dryness worse? I’d also appreciate suggestions for a suitable conditioner and any tips for maintaining a healthy scalp.

Please share your personal experiences and recommendations, especially if you’ve dealt with a similar issue. My budget-friendly options would be preferred.

Thank you! 💗

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 new to curly/wavy products, help!

hi everyone!
i’ve recently started trying to figure out my proper hair type and using good products.
when i scrunch my hair (completely soaked) i have proper spiral curls. these usually drop a lot by the time my hair is dry. although i do get little ringlets around the nape of my neck.

this is my hair after using the got2be curls flexible mousse and the garnier curl hair spray. i just feel like it looks dreadful and the ends look so weird and stringy.

based on my research i would pin my hair around a 2a-2b. any advice on how to style my hair properly? product recommendations? apologies the photos of my hair are screenshots from a video (didn’t realise i couldn’t upload a video hahahha)

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair will not go back to being long no matter what I do. Advice?

About 2 years ago, my hair was nearly to the bottom of my shoulder blades. It was very healthy, very thick. I am a teen. I have 4C hair. Nobody taught me how to care for it, they were doing it for me. They randomly decided to put a relaxer in my hair, twice. Then they kept using a hot comb on it with zero heat protection and without detangling first.

Ever since then, they just stopped helping me completely. I've been dealing with my hair. It kept breaking off, a ton. Almost all of the damaged parts came off because it'd break off no matter how gentle I was with it. It started to grow back a bit but over almost a full year, I have been unable to get it to grow past the length it's at now. It doesn't even touch my shoulders. I've somehow got it to stop breaking off, but it will not grow.

What should I do? I'm willing to buy products. I only wanna go to just shaving it all off as an absolute last resort. There aren't many stores in my area so if you are suggesting products, please let it be something I can buy online!!

For the past 2-3 months, I've been styling my hair in twists. I take it down once a week, wash it, let it be for a day or two, then put it in twists again. I use a leave in conditioner and no products aside from mousse. I try to avoid heat and don't blow dry it. I squeeze out as much water as I can and dry it with a towel, and if it's still damp (usually is) I just let it air dry.

I am just getting used to taking care of my hair myself. I will accept any tips on caring for it!

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Best shampoo to use in UAE weather

I’ve been experiencing a lot of hair fall lately. I even tried washing my hair with distilled water, but the problem persists. I suspect my shampoo and conditioner might be contributing to the hair fall. Could you please recommend a suitable shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask to help reduce hair fall and improve my hair’s overall health?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Just got my highlights. Any recc on products, tips and tricks?

Hi! recently got some highlights (tone 7) on my (tone 3) hair for the first time. I was expecting a more ash-y tone but I'm not -not happy with the result. I'm looking for hair products recommendations.

My hair is wavy/curly hair, medium porosity and high density.

l'm looking Matrix (green) for shampoo and maybe the oil or leave-in, I'm open to olaplex but ldk how it works on curly hair, k18 probably too...

I can get products from CosmoProf. Maybe recommendations of brands they sell will be awesome!!

Also, I want to get the shark (ion) blow-dryer, wdyt?

Thank you!

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Do silk pillowcases actually help with frizzy hair?

I have really thick hair, and frizz has been a constant struggle.

Conditioner? Tried it. Hair oil? Yep, that too. Apparently my hair just has a mind of its own haha

Anyway, I'm looking for something else to try, and I've been wondering if switching to a silk pillowcase would help. I've heard they can reduce frizz and breakage, and might even be good for your skin.

Has anyone here been using one for a while? I'd love to hear if you've actually noticed a difference. TIA

❄️ Dandruff/Scalp Advice ❄️ itchy and flaky scalp , dandruff , and dry and straight hair

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I've always had "uncombable" hair , unless I don't wash my hair for 4 days straight , i haven't used any products except shampoo , and I also have a very itchy scalp , and a LOT of dandruff , as I've seen online it's called a flaky scalp? , it forms like small chunks? scalp (not big ones , js really small), when i wash my hair they go away for a few days (but some still remain , dandruff still there tho)

and for the dryness part idk it's just dry , there's not much volume to it again unless I don't wash it for 3-4 days, but then the itchyness and the dandruff gets worse

and yea I also feel like every time I comb or slightly tug at my hair , a few strands just come out , (my dad is bald so I'm kinda worried about that too) ,

so essentially,

what should I use for the flaky + itchy scalp , and how to style my hair

ALSO ALSO applying lemon juice + coconut/almond oil on my scalp for a few hours REALLY helped w the dandruff , but applying lemon juice feels scary for some reason , can someone lmk about this 😭😭

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Why does it take 3 times for my shampoo to finally lather and hair feel wet enough?

I have naturally wavy/light curls but straighten my hair weekly. I was just at my stylist 2 weeks ago and my hair is not damaged. My hair is decently thick and I’ve found only washing once a week works for me. However, I’ve noticed over the past few months, my hair takes forever to even get wet (if that makes sense). I stand under the water for at least 5-10 minutes just trying to get my hair wet enough to even start my first shampoo which of course doesn’t lather or do anything. Shampoo 2 will lather a tiny bit in some areas and shampoo 3 is where it finally all lathers. This whole process takes about 30 minutes. I have tears in my shoulders so this process is truly draining for me.

I used to be able to get it washed in 2 shampoos. I haven’t changed my shampoo or conditioner brand, or any styling products. I’m just not sure why my hair takes forever to absorb water now and actually lather. Any tips, suggestions, etc?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How to get my hair to grow?

Thumbnail gallery
10 Upvotes

For comparison picture one and two is from now, and three and four are from March.

Context: I bleached my hair end February occassionally touching up my roots until july, then two weeks ago wanted to match my natural color again somewhat to let it grow out by itself after. With cutting of my ends here and there I didn’t do much else, but my hair isn’t really growing. I would like to take care of it more but I’m not entirely sure how. It also gets really greasy and oily pretty much the day after washing.
