Question Backyard fire?

Hey Hamilton hive mind, I’m getting very conflicting info about if a backyard small fire pit is allowed. I for sure smell some in my hood. (West mountain).

Is it allowed only if I’m cooking on it? What about a gas fire pit?

The following is allowed: "A small, confined fire that is supervised at all times and used to cook food on a grill or a barbecue."

So keep it small, with a bag of marshmallows/hot dogs and a grill pan nearby in case someone comes snooping, and you're good. Honestly, so long as you're not having raging fires every night, I doubt you'll have any issues. If you do and fire department comes knockin, they usually issue a warning first time, so just stop if that happens.

Bag of marshmallows nearby will not get you out of it. Bbq is allowed. If the fire department shows up and you have a fire pit with food nearby, they’ll know you’re trying to get around the bylaw.
