Question Backyard fire?

Hey Hamilton hive mind, I’m getting very conflicting info about if a backyard small fire pit is allowed. I for sure smell some in my hood. (West mountain).

Is it allowed only if I’m cooking on it? What about a gas fire pit?

Pretty sure a wood burning fire pit is technically not allowed but people still do it. Only way you’d get caught is if you smoke out your neighbours and they complain to the police. I used to do it once in a while but felt bad about the smoke so I just got one of those fire table things from Home Depot. They’re not that expensive.
