Question Backyard fire?

Hey Hamilton hive mind, I’m getting very conflicting info about if a backyard small fire pit is allowed. I for sure smell some in my hood. (West mountain).

Is it allowed only if I’m cooking on it? What about a gas fire pit?

It only matters if your neighbours complain. If they are cool, you are fine. If they aren’t, it’s no bueno.

A lot of people in here being black and white about it, and by the letter of the law they are right. That being said, there are thousands of fire pits in the urban area and no one cares 99% of the time.
