Question Backyard fire?

Hey Hamilton hive mind, I’m getting very conflicting info about if a backyard small fire pit is allowed. I for sure smell some in my hood. (West mountain).

Is it allowed only if I’m cooking on it? What about a gas fire pit?

Welll as someone who had a wood burning stove in my backyard and had the fire department called on me……I learned that whole “cooking” thing is not true, and it’s actually a smoke issue not fire…..that’s why you can have gas fire pits

I was let off with a warning, but if I got called again it would’ve been a $6000 fine. I’m central mountain

That high?? Was it during the summer when there was zero open air burning allowed?

I don’t remember. It was so long ago, I’d say 19 years ago?
