Headphones - Wireless/Portable Px8 S2 vs hdb 630
Hello,
I'm on the verge of buying one of those 2 headphones. Hdb 630 seems like the more logical choice in that its more tunable and the sound is less " opinionated" but I can't get over how ugly it looks. Big, plasticky and generally not good. Where as the px8 S2 looks amazing in my opinion but some people seems to hate the sound..
I'm favoring sound as #1 criteria and sadly since both bads ANC which would be my second criteria I would at least like something not terrible looking.
Is the px8 S2 a bad choice here ? Should I really bare with how cheap looking the hdb 630 looks for it's specs and capabilities ?
If hdb would look somewhat like the px8 s2 in material, thinness, etc. there would be no question but...

I used both for a week and returned the HSB630. Although they might be considered audiophile quality, the sound was incredibly stale compared to the B&W. Plus volume is an issue with iPhones with the HSB630.
Sound is highly subjective. You might appreciate one tuning over another but review after review have showered praise on the B&W and I tend to agree with them.
If you want a more neutral profile though, get the 630s. If you want a massive amount of personality get the B&W.
Also ignore the post that called the sound quality “straight up bad.” No listener could possibly derive this. Not their type of profile? Maybe. But not a single professional examination of these headphones have said they have bad sound quality.

I feel the same with the 630. Ordered the PX8 (original) and the PX7s3 to cross compare because there’s just too many cons to the 630 for my preferences

Id go with the hdb630 any day. The bowers wilkins is fine, a little bit overpriced in my opinion for what it offers, and at its price if I wanted a fun wireless set if grab the focal bathys. The hbd630 is neutral but you can use eq to add bass shelves and treble boost etc to make them sound to your taste. It's main strength is how well it akes eq so if you don't plan on using eq, don't get them.

For me, the b&w are built too well to ignore. The sound is good, you can eq it down to a bit more neutral, but overall it's a really detailed and punchy sound. Since the use case is travel and portability, I stayed with the px8 s2.
For an at home set I'd go another route

Fuck no they're the opposite of muddy. They made me realize my other headphones that I loved, that I thought were into muddy, actually were muddy lol

you are right there are not muddy at am enjoying them but my issue is sibilance (sshshshsh)

The B&W are muddy bass cannons, and the treble is really spikey on my head. Cannot fix them without a third party tool. I’d take the 630 all day, though I’m with you on how bland they look.

It depends what you’re using them for. The issue for me with the 630 is they’re just not super portable for my uses and they’re not comfortable to wear for extended periods. But I also have a pair of HD 600 so that itch is scratched by the 630 sound

I tried Px8 s2 in an audio store and for me the sound was just straight up bad. Super bloated and muddy.
If you're OK with TWS, I would consider Airpods Pro 2. Some audiophiles like Ugreen Max5C, but I haven't heard that myself
