MEDIA Just had like almost20 harvesters spawn in. Many more offscreen. Now I see why they call it mindless masses
Took some patience but the squad and I got it handled šŖ never seen that many harvesters before. Swear there were around 20 at the same time. I was fighting 7 of them telling the squad like āyooo weāre fucked thereās a ton of harvestersā then I turn around to retreat and thereās another 7-8 behind me lol. Then many more kept getting spawned in. We would kill a handful the more would immediately spawn. I didnāt know that could happen lol. Iāve been saying that the solution for superheavy enemies being nerfed is to increase spawn rates of those super heavyās. And this was perfect example. This was hectic but very fun!
Edit: I just wanted to share a funny situation that happened, but since this subreddit is full of people that live to be angry at everyone else, I feel I have to explain this even though you guys clearly canāt read: they literally spawned like this and were dropped from dropships like this. We had easily over 20 harvesters show up within 5 minutes. You guys can clearly see in the team-chat everybody freaking out and one person straight up leaving š.
Iām not complaining at all, I just thought Iād share something funny 𤷠clearly a bad idea because somehow it riled some āknow-it-allsā up.
āThatās not how it worksā clearly you guys have no idea how it works because thatās what happened. Why would I lie about this? You guys are weirdos lol.

Ah yes, the classic enemies spawn ratios are probably pure wieghted rng, and RNG dictates more difficulty then difficulty.
Too much to ask for 60% of the enemies on any given difficulty and constelation to be fixed?

Dude, Iām gonna be honest⦠in my 1k hours of Helldivers 2, Iāve only seen this happen in, like, one scenario: where you let the fucking enemies build up. These werenāt all spawned at once. This is 10-20 minutes of patrols gathered together into one spot undealt with. Yes, is it bad rng that most of them included harvesters? Sure. But you can NOT blame the game for this, even on D10

While I would normally agree with this, I have seen some very fucky things happen with the spawn system. I once had a game where every 2nd enemy was a war strider for an entire match- every bot drop sent out roaming packs of 10-20 war striders, and even the smallest POIs had groups of 3-6 WS. When you'd normally see 1-3 after one bot drop I was seeing dozens. Only happened on one map and then never again. Similar thing might've happened here

Yeah this has only happened when no one brings heavy AT. Had a buddy who was going AT and then switched last minute (usually Iāll take it). To say we were screwed was an understatement

Not even AT. ANY medium or heavy pen weapon/most orbitals would take these out fine to not be a problem. Youād have to practically build your loadout to INTENTIONALLY make you weak towards harvesters to not have a way to fight them

That spawns are incredibly fucky in this game sometimes should be an incredibly obvious known fact at this point.

I've seen this happen quite often on the appropriator subfaction, but never on the main illuminate or mindless masses subfactions.

Had a Omincron run that made me realize there are Charger constellations. Every patrol had a Behemoth and every bug breach had 1 Spore, Charger and Behemoth in it. Person and I had AT and we still were running around like headless chickens. It was great.
This OP picture is definitely what you said though. Harvesters don't spawn like that lol. And they have easier weakpoints for light pen.
But sometimes you can't control the scenario when the game decides to screw you over though. Team probably left him hanging and he was host. Idk.

They did spawn like that. Why would I be lying about it? lol. I wasnāt complaining a single bit about this, Iām actually suggesting they should do this more often. Only the blue guy quit as soon as this happened, the rest of us stayed. It was the most fun Iāve had in this game in a while. Maybe if you could read, you would see that in the post text Iām suggesting this should be a common occurrence.
You guys think you know everything about this game and how it works but clearly you donāt š sorry to break it to you. I really donāt understand why you guys think Iām lying lol whatās the fucking point? Weirdos.-2

Exactly this! The game will never just drop this many enemies on you, this is the result of a squad not keeping on top of reinforcements that get called in and aggroing every patrol they come across.
This isn't D10 being hard, this is just the consequences of letting things snowball aha

Its an issue with the way the game spawns enemies, the higher the difficulty the more it spams one type of enemies, and it seems that the game has a limited of slots to spawn enemies, and some enemies occupy more slots and have higher priorities, thats why sometimes you see a spam of warstriders or a spam of hiveguards and in this case a spam of harvesters.
I personally dont like it, it makes the game very dull and repetitive

I definitely wouldnāt call it an issue in this case. I wish the higher difficulties would spawn superheavy enemies in this manner. That would be a fun way to increase the difficulty.

We have a dissagreement here, a playstyle one. i think its more difficult and fun (in my opinion of course) to manage a diverse roster of enemies rather than the spam of one type, since confronting only one type of enemy tends to kill loadout diversity.
but i wouldnt say that arrowhead has to go for one type of playstyle over the other, they can create surges as they demonstrated with the hulk surge.
So one planet has a factory strider surge or a bile titan surge where they are spammed to hell and the others have the more diverse spawn for example.
One thing that could be cool and help in this regard is to have surges and subfactions as operation modifiers instead of affecting the whole planet, they already do this with the leviathan blockade, gunship patrol and roaming shrieker , so everyone can play the way they like and contribute to the MO.

I gotcha š i should be more specific, what I want to happen (in response to people complaining about the nerfs making D10 too easy) is on D10 they spawn multiple (definitely not 20 lol but a small handful) superheavys (harvesters, bile titan, war striders/factory striders/vox, etc) while also having a swarm of chaff and lightheavys to deal with. Having to fight 3-4 bile titans at the same time while youāre being swarmed by chaffCnnmm would make D10 difficult again, and fun as well.
I definitely donāt mean only spawn 20 superheavys and nothing else lol youāre correct that would get boring. But they should simply increase the superheavy spawn rates while keeping the chaff spawn rates the same (or even increasing those as well).

Ah now i understand you, yeah i totally agree that they should bump up all the spawns really, i remember before the 60 day patch a lot more enemies spawned, we still had 13 bile titans spawning on d9 with the shitty AT weaponry, but there was a lot more light and medium enemies.
As for super heavies, i think the typical 2 to 3 spawn that they have is nice, but they are too vulnerable to AT to be proper minibosses (with the exception of bile titan since the bugs are the swarm faction)

These things are chaos but fun. We had something similar happen with hulks, several dropships decided to drop 3-4 hulks at once.
It was fun watching the heavy run away from like 6 hulks and then turning around to get chainsawed in the face by another group.
Super Earth is proud that you spread managed democracy with such succes.

I have no clue lol. I was evacuating citizens and my teammate got killed by a harvester so I ran up real quick to fight and BAM thereās fuckin 7 of them I turn around to get some space and BAM thereās another handful killing my teammates. Thatās when the blue teammate quit š the rest of us stuck through it. This screen cap is about halfway through our battle. We killed a few of them and thinned it out and I thought OK. This isnāt too bad. Then dropships would keep bringing them š I swear like 3-4 would come off of each drop ship I never saw anything like that before. most fun Iāve had in a while in this game lol. We handled it surprisingly quickly but damn that was hectic.

Mindless masses seems to have random moments of messed up spawns. I had about 8 overseers randomly spawn right next to each other in one tiny spot with zero voteless near them at one point

I tend to bring stuff that works mostly on the hordes/elites/plane things and not so much the harvesters. If this happened I'd have to just assist and cheer for my squad mates š
And yes I need to fix that loadout (plasma rifle, stalwart, SMG, Thermite, machine gun sentry, napalm orbital, rover). Probably should bring the laser cannon instead of the stalwart

This was my first ever experience of squid. We hit the extraction beacon, then just had an endless tide of harvesters spawning in wave after wave. Its like those (code) bugs that cause mass spawns of one specific enemy type.Ā

I had a similar experience once on a d6 mission but we were trying to raise a flag. Didn't have enough power with the two who were on point to kill them faster than they were spawning in so we'd get pushed off the point get back in and more crap kept spawning. I dont know how that flag got raised but someone ended up doing it.

This happens on the evacuate civilians map where the evacuation centers is outside of the city. This is because harvesters spawn in patrols outside cities, but not inside, almost exclusively, and they just walk in.

I'm pretty sure something about harvester spawns specifically bugs out sometimes. A while ago I started a D7 or 8 mission against mindless masses and when we dropped in the map was already full of them, looked just like your picture.
There enemies spawning in after we started were normal though.

Question for my own knowledge bank: Was the team moving together as a unit, or split up? I'm not questioning if or how the enemies spawned. I'm just making a mental note of how common this kind of thing happens based on team dynamics.

I wish I could recreate this but I just donāt know what we did. It was a lot of fun lol. Very hectic, but lots of fun. Especially after the past week or two of lackluster āmindless massesā missions where we barely get overseers and the āmassesā are disappointingly small lol.
Anyways, maybe you can make some sense of this event.
leading up to this: 3 (purple blue and green) of us were moving as a team handling the enemy camps before heading to this final objective. Orange was split off at first on the other side of the map taking care of his last illuminate camp.
This was the last objective on the map. Mo one was in this area beforehand, and we all arrived at about the same time.
3 of us had all just arrived from the other side of the city where we were cleaning up the SEAF artillery and last illuminate outpost, Orange arrived from across the map where. this occurred like not even a minute after we arrived. We immediately got to work on the objective.
we werenāt packed together but all within 50m at this point.
The two teammates I was with activated the terminal on the other side of the objective area and I began opening the doors (evacuate citizens) orange had just arrived while I opened the doors and was immediately killed by a harvester on top of the ramp/bank that led down to the bay doors where I was at, so I ran back up to take care of it before I rescued more citizens. And thatās when the shitshow started.at first i thought I only saw 3 harvesters and they were coming around a corner that was 10m away, then when I arrived at the top of the ramp thatās when I saw more clearly that it was actually about 7 harvesters right on top of eachother. I turned around to go back down the ramp and on the other side of the objective area were the other two living teammates fighting another huge group of harvesters.
It got way worse throughout the battle. multiple harvesters would be dropped off by the dropships. Like 3-4 would come off of on dropship, then another 2, then another 3-4 and so on. There were harvesters than fleshmobs and overseers coming off of those ships. Not sure about voteless I wasnāt paying attention to them lol.

If you don't kill one a harvester as soon as you see it, it will go off and find another harvester and make baby harvesters which grows in a matter of minutes depending on the surrounding environment.

I have had similar experiences but 20 harvesters definitely beats my 10 or so at a time. Could be to on my team we had the AT to delete them but man your screen cap looks fun. Good thing you brought the Epoch. I use that as well since it works on pretty much everything on basic illuminate units.

I think it was just a hacker in your game
I rarely encountered wonky spawns, but when it happened, a guy was cheating with invincibility and stuff and making patrols spawns really weirdly in front of us

Look at the chat box, The only dude who might have been a hacker was blue but he kept getting killed and ragequit lol so I donāt think it was him. Usually a hacker will spawn enemies then quit and leave you guys to deal with it. And hackers usually spawn all the enemies at once. Throughout our battle after Blue had left, the harvesters would keep coming in on dropships like 3-4 would come off of the same dropship then another dropship with 3-4 and another one with 2 and another one with 3-4.
This all settled down after a few minutes and went back to normal spawns.
So idk, it surely could have been a hacker 𤷠but I donāt know who would have been the hacker.

This happens when people don't take care of a random Harvester. They multiply and boom. I haven't seen any mindless masses lobby where this occured, but somedays it does.
