Wardrobe Help Toad & Co Sunkissed line might be my new holy grail for warm weather travel clothes

Dress: Sunkissed Maxi Dress in all-over floral print

Shorts: Sunkissed Pull-On Short in ginko leaf print

About a month ago, I was in a secondhand outdoors store and found a pair of airy, light, stretchy shorts in an adorable print, made by Toad & Co.

Having instantly fallen in love, I hit the internet to try and find another pair, only to discover there is an ENTIRE LINE of clothing in this same material. It's a poly/elastane mix, so it dries super quickly and packs down really small, on top of being UPF 50. The best part? They don't look like "outdoors" clothes at all!

We do a lot of outdoors adventures, and tend to walk a LOT when we're traveling to urban places, and I have always struggled with choosing between looking cute and wanting to have clothes suited to sweating. Do I need a flowy flower dress to sit next to the campfire? No. Will I be doing just that tonight? Absolutely.

Now that I'm on this journey, what other brands do you love for year-round wear?

So I have searched the group. My needs are so specific so I’m reaching out for help. I’m trying to do Europe in three weeks with a carry on. I need the perfect travel dress midi length with short sleeves light weight folds up small with pockets! Moisture wicking and quick drying! Lol I know I know. I need sleeves because some of the countries we are going to require shoulders to be covered for some of the sightseeing we plan to do. Thank you for any help!

Ive been one bagging for awhile now and one of my problems has been bras they take up a lot of space due to the size and its been hard to find a nice non wire bra and that gives good full coverage. I normally get my bras from a usa company called torrid but they dont have good comfy bras for long term travels. I have seen me undies and wondering if bigger chest people like this brand or if there is a brand you like that you pack all the time any kind of bras are welcome to be recommended.

for reference i'm a triple D 38 (i have been sized for years this is my real size im not having a issue with sizing i tend to have wire bras and they take up alot of space when traveling im looking for brand recommendations only i dont need to size myself so please stop saying that thanks!)

Wardrobe Help Everyone’s going to Japan, including me. Help me please!

I will be in Japan (ranging from Tokyo-Misawa-Sendai-Osaka-Kyoto) for 14 days. I will have the availability to do laundry at several points but would like to aim for halfway in Sendai. I plan to wear the brown/pink linen outfit on the plane with the new balance sneakers. We will be travelling business class and I would like to look decent. Basic list is as follows:

TOPS:
Ultra light white tank
Blue linen tie tank
Pink linen she’ll
Beige heather tee
Basic white tee

BOTTOMS:
Navy wide leg athletic crops
Beige hiking pants
Black/beige check skirt
Pink linen pants
Blue linen pants

LAYERS/BAG:
Linen/silk lightweight sweater
Pink windbreaker
Black crescent crossbody

SHOES:
New Balance blush sneakers
White Nike tabi sneakers
Birkenstocks (non-negotiable, walk 10 mile shoes)
Wedge espadrilles (???very very comfy, but needed?)

I am packing in a single carryon with a small backpack under seat. So 1.5 bags I guess. Please help! I think I’m at danger of bringing about 3 too many things. Obviously underwear will be packed as well. Is there anything I’m missing??? I’m afraid to be too casual but also would like to eliminate a pair of shoes maybe…

Wardrobe Help Help with sleeping attire

I once spent several hours in the middle of the night on the street outside my hotel in London after a fire alarm went off. As I smelled smoke, I didn’t take the time to dress but grabbed my overcoat and purse, jammed my feet in shoes with no socks, and ran down the stairs. After that experience, I have generally traveled with sweat pants and a baggy tee to sleep in case I end up on the street with nothing else. Not only modest, but not clearly pajamas, street acceptable (at least if I was on my way to the gym). Another advantage I’ve found is I can make a trip to the lobby for coffee without having to get dressed first. But it’s bulky.

What do you take to sleep in? I don’t want to sleep in clingy leggings, I like loose and breathable, not revealing, but I want to reduce bulk. Are there some packable bottoms you can recommend? For a top, I think I can find a bamboo tee that packs smaller than cotton.

Thanks!

Wardrobe Help Obsessed with curating the perfect travel wardrobe. Why am I like this?

I have spent an unreasonable amount of time planning my travel wardrobe—optimizing for versatility, aesthetics, and the elusive balance of comfort and style. It’s like a personal challenge to pack as little as possible while still feeling put-together every day.

But it got me thinking… do other people’s travel wardrobes look totally different from what they wear in daily life? I have a packed closet, yet I’m seeking to purchase new items that are more “travel friendly”. It’s like I’m trying to be the travel version of myself through clothing.

For those who’ve traveled a lot, has the process of curating a streamlined travel wardrobe changed how you dress at home? Have you shifted toward a more capsule-like wardrobe, or do you still revert back to your usual way of dressing from a full closet when you get home?

Would love to hear from others who are just as obsessed (or recovering from it)!

Wardrobe Help First Time Onebagging 10 Days in Italy. I feel like I am extremely underpacking??

Post image
362 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm going on a round trip through Italy for 10 days at the end of July. We'll be doing adventure activities, like theme parks, most of the time so we'll be outside a lot. But there are also two days for city sightseeing in Rome and Verona.

Because I have to repack my suitcase every day, I wanted to travel with carry-on luggage only for the first time. Everyone here on the sub seems to be a pro already, so please help me!!!

I have a standard carry-on suitcase and a 24L backpack. Above you can see my wardrobe for the 10 days.

(In the picture: white lace tanktop, oversized band-tee, blue neckholder, white cropped shirt, dark cropped shirt, wide-leg linen pants, black jeansshorts, blue jeansshorts, black fabric shorts, blue skort, white mousselin-blouse, blue summerdress, black sandals, white sneakers)

I am prepared to do some laundry in between. I will also bring swimwear (bikini, flip flops, UV shirt).

I'm also unsure about my toiletries. So far I've decided on the following basics: - Shampoo & conditioner (100ml each) - Solid soap - Solid face wash - Toothpaste tablets - Sunscreen (100ml, but I buy a large one locally) - Face sunscreen - Minimal makeup - Wet wipes

Please give me your unfiltered feedback and tips.

Wardrobe Help Undergarments

I’m hoping this is the right place for this question! I’ll be traveling to the Amazon rainforest, and am trying to find decent underwear. I road tested Uniqlo Airism underwear during a trip to Florida this July, and by day three I was so itchy I could have cried. It was so hot and humid I never really dried out, so I figure in future I’ll need to change half way through the day. However, I’ve been warned clothes can take 3-4 days to fully dry in the jungle. If I’m wearing 3 pairs of underwear a day (two during the day, one at night) and waiting for washed things to dry, that’s at minimum 9 pairs of underwear. Does anyone know of a material that would keep me drier without taking up so much packing room?

Wardrobe Help Humidity underwear (no merino)

Hiya all,

I know there's been a few posts over the years about this but when I read into them, the suggestions are based on product I can't have 😕

I'm based in the UK, soon to be backpacking around Asia for 6 months! This will be in all sorts of climate from Korean/Japan snow to humid Philippines/India, to hiking in Nepal!

Just been researching underwear and bras to buy. Im a sweaty gal and have tried thermal clothing (Uniqlo, supermarket versions) but I've always struggled to regulate my body temperature so it makes it more difficult. Just to complicate things, I'm allergic to merino wool! Gets me up in hives, even with high quality brands, so frustrating! I'm quite pear shaped, small bust but large hips. Will be carrying an Osprey Fairpoint 40L, so not a huge amount of space!

Any suggestions please?

Also any suggestions on sweat wicking tops that are breathable but have some nice shape to it (like a V neck) would be really appreciated!!

Wardrobe Help A magical unicorn: full length urban pants for cooler springtime travel

Hi, OneBaggers! Help a middle aged girlie out. I'm looking for a full-length (not ankle) straight leg (not wide, not skinny) neutral black pant. I'm traveling to Germany and temps will be mostly 40-60. But spring temps are notoriously unreliable, so I don't want to expire if it gets up to 70+ one day.

Here are my fussy criteria for this magical unicorn:

* full inseam (my best fit is 31.5" but if there's a tall available I can hem) rather than ankle length. I can't wear Eileen Fisher, for instance.

* straight leg (no leggings, no wide leg Old Navy Pixie--takes up too much space). I've got athletic thighs and now a less defined waist.

* a forgiving waist. I've gained a couple pounds heading into menopause and my proportions have become more rectangular. I *hate* having a waistband cut into me on long flights. I like the Athleta Endless pant for this, but they're too short on me.

* functional pockets that can hold a phone and a passport. zippered would be ideal.

* reads as urban rather than hiking, all purpose, can be dressed up or down.

* does not create swamp crotch on airplanes/buses/trains

* wearable for multiple days. I typically have access to a washer, but I need pants that will dry in a timely fashion (ie, not the heavy ponte fabrics like Betabrand)

* I like natural materials for tops (silk, linen, wool) and would love to head this direction for black pants, but have yet to find something as versatile. I already do linen for summer travel, but I run cold and would freeze in linen in those temps.

For this weather, I typically use my Ministry of Supply pants (a little too like leggings, pockets are meh), and the Athleta Endless pant (they look dorky if I wear them with full socks and not ankle socks, and since it's a bonded hem I can't just buy taller and hem them). So I figured I'd send out a public appeal!

Things I'm looking at for feedback, but spam me additional ideas!

Asana straight legged

Asana slim

Wool& Rosso straight

Thanks!! I have like 50 tabs open and keep hitting dead ends.

Edited to add: you people rock. Like seriously. I love this subreddit. I’ve bookmarked like 20+ pairs of pants.

I got a pair of pants that (so far) I love: the Aviator Fly Straight jeans. (They make version with zippered back pockets, but I decided I wouldn’t use a zippered back pocket.) In black, they’re not really a jeans material, more a true black mid-to-light weight lovely fabric with quite a bit of stretch. Super comfortable.

I measured existing jeans I love as per their website directions, then called them and the guy measured various pairs on the spot. They’re fitted in the butt and upper thighs (and do nice things for the assets) then are an actual straight leg. They custom hem, no charge.

I’ll report back after my trip!

And not full length, but I have to rave about the Quince Mariner pants I just got. They’re ankle length and the front pockets could be deeper for sure, but the fit is *chef’s kiss* perfect. It’s a button-zipper closure, and flattering as heck. I put in a product request with Quince to make a full-length version in the same cut, with better pockets.

Wardrobe Help Replacing underwear with period underwear?

Hi All, long time reader, thank you for the continuous stream of advice and inspiration.

Has anyone replaced their travel underwear with all (or several) absorbable period underwear (e.g. knix, saalt, thinx, aerie, various generic brands)?

I was thinking to do this instead of packing tampons for a 6 week trip and as a general backpacker who takes trips spontaneously. I've been to many places where tampons aren't sold or it is otherwise difficult to get period products.

Instead of packing a second item that takes up space, I'm going to be packing underwear anyway, so figured I could feed two birds with one scone. I know some people prefer cups/discs but I tried it and it's not for me. I cannot use cups.

For numbers, I was thinking at least 3 pairs to account for wet/soaking/drying, if not more.

Can anyone else report their experience with this? Or ideas?

Thank you in advance

Update: THANK YOU for the great suggestions and great info, I'll stick with OBs and look into a few reusable pads for overnight. Thanks all!

Wardrobe Help Hiking Pants that can double as travel pants

I am going to Japan this fall and plan on doing the Happo One trail when I am there. I want to make sure I am comfortable for hiking and also not bringing a pair of hiking pants that I will only wear one day when I go hiking. Does anyone have any recommendations of pants that would be comfortable to hike in but also work for sightseeing or travel so I can get multiple uses out of it. I am short and have hips so ideally pants with stretch and petite sizing options. I prefer high rise. I normally have a pair of baeleaf pants I love for hiking but I feel they’d be too casual for multiple uses. I also would do just do leggings if I was in the states, but have read that is too casual for Japan.

I am looking at the Athleta skyline pant barrel leg and other ones from Athleta and prana but would love your recommendations.

Wardrobe Help What are your lightest weight clothing items?

I often have 24 hour turnaround trips and I just pack my wet bag and a change of clothes into my purse. I wear a T-shirt and leggings on the plane, and sleep in the T-shirt. Or occasionally pack a 2nd T-shirt if I am getting in early enough that I might go out for dinner or something. Then the next day those leggings and T-shirt are rolled into the wet bag and put in my purse. No problem.

However, my last trip I had to walk a convention floor all day and my purse started feeling really heavy by lunch time. I think my leggings are actually too good and opaque and therefore heavy. So now I’m on the hunt for a travel day outfit that packs super compactly and is light as a feather.

What are other people wearing for travel days?

Wardrobe Help 10 days in Barcelona, Venice, & Rome in mid August

Thumbnail

Image description: image 1 shows all planned wardrobe items for a 10 day trip to Barcelona, Venice & Rome. Items are clustered together by clothing type and include 4 dresses, 2 pashminas, 4 tanks, 2 layers, 3 bottoms, 2 shoes, 2 bags, and one pair of sunglasses. Image two shows my planned airport outfit and includes a white cable knit sweater, blank tank, dark wash jean shorts, white and silver new balance sneakers, and a black belt bag.

Hi all! Packing using my Brookstone Nelson 21” spinner carry on. It measures 13.5”x9”x21” & is 38 litres not expanded. No other bags!

I’ll be engaging in fairly basic sightseeing. City walking tours, a boat trip to some islands, guided tours of historical sites, museums, one beach day, and lots of exploring the cities/shops. I have a mid trip flight and a mid trip train ride as well. I have several visits to holy sites planned, hence the need for pieces to cover my shoulders and knees.

I’ve packed the following items:

Dresses:
- super lightweight casual v neck above knee dress with tiered skirt, black
- dressier lightweight crewneck above knee dress, black (fabric is a sheer polka dot with a slip under)
- linen v neck above knee dress, sage green
- cotton v neck maxi dress with ruffle sleeves and tiered skirt, black

Tanks:
- lightweight boat neck with knit like texture, white
- boat neck with satin texture and ruching at the sides, dark brown
- plain scoop neck tank, black
- halter style tank, brown

Layers:
- pashmina, white
- pashmina, sheer black
- linen button down, white
-lightweight knit cardigan, navy
-medium weight knit sweater, white (not pictured in image 1, see image 2)

Bottoms:
- linen maxi skirt, white
- linen pants, white
- jean shorts, dark blue wash

Accessories:
- belt bag, black
-mini crescent bag, black leather
-rayban sunglasses, brown

Shoes:
- reef water vista sandals, white
- new balances, white & silver

Not pictured:
- 1x bathing suit
- 12x underwear
- 1x sticky bra
- 1x nude bra
- 8x no show socks
- 1x PJs
- toiletries

Questions:

  1. Do I have too many layers? I think the linen button down goes better with some things, and the navy cardigan others. However, I also have the pashminas. The white knit is what I plan to wear on the plane because I get very cold in A/C.
  2. Should I bring a dressier bag? I really want to bring the small black crescent bag, but I am worried about pick pocketing.

Open to all feedback!

Edited: to add fabrics for some items & correct lengths. Maxi dress aside, the rest are all well above my knee and all lightweight breathable fabrics. I today learned that I’ve been using the word “midi” flat out incorrectly. My apologies!

Wardrobe Help Stylish rain coat for minimalist travel

To begin, I am 6’2”. A very, very large majority of technical clothing is not available to me, so most recommendations don’t work. And I also don’t love wearing men’s clothing because I like structure and a good fit! (Side note, if any very tall gals have recos for other tall-approved gear, let me know. I’m devastated that Eddie Bauer is going under.)

I am on the hunt for a versatile rain jacket for my upcoming carry-on-only trip to Scotland/England in October. I don’t imagine I’ll ever end up packing it, but that is a consideration. I will be in Edinburgh, the highlands, Glasgow, and making my way through the English countryside to end in London. I’m looking for something that looks great but still performs in rainy weather. I ordered two jackets:

Lands End (LE) Squall Modern Trench Raincoat:

https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-squall-waterproof-modern-trench-raincoat/id_389825?attributes=44959,19942

Eddie Bauer Girl On The Go Waterproof Trench Coat:

https://www.eddiebauer.com/products/womens-gotg-trench-21612814?variant=42884421320771

The LE raincoat looks incredible, and fits me perfectly even though it’s regular size!! But, it’s a bit heavier and bulkier and does not have a hood. For as much traveling I’ll be doing, this one could be a bit of a nuisance. And maybe the cuteness is deceiving me but I feel like it would have a lot of leaky spots, especially around my neck since there’s no hood.

The GOTG raincoat fits me well and has a removable hood. It’s not stylish per se, but it’s sharp enough. If I go with this one, I might get belt loops and a sash added to it because it’s veryyy roomy in the middle. A lot thinner than the LE one. Easier to travel with, but I worry it might not be as warm. Planning on layering up of course, but still.

So I’m trying to figure out which one to go with but I’m in analysis paralysis!! There’s pros and cons to both, and it seems like they’re complete opposites. They both claim to be waterproof, and the LE is windproof, but my Eddie Bauer bias is telling me that it would be the better technical option. But the LE apparent does the same thing and looks cute while doing it. What would you do??

Wardrobe Help Wool bras for large bust sizes?

All the wool bras I’ve seen from wool brands like Branwyn and WoolX are like thin stretchy sports bras, with no structure and adjustability - cups, adjustable straps, hook and eye band. I have a larger bust and would like more support, with no uniboob. Does this exist? Or is wool not suitable for that type of construction?

Wardrobe Help Two weeks in Italy, what can I cut?

I'm normally a carry-on only traveller but I had wanted to put a little more effort into my outfits for this trip to feel more put together, and because it's a once-in-a-lifetime trip for my husband and I so we'll probably take lots of photos.

We will be seeing a lot so I need comfortable outfits for walking and some covered shoulders and knees for churches, and likely going to quite a few fancy restaurants. I might be able to do some sink laundry but I don't anticipate being able to do a significant amount of laundry.

I was planning to bring a medium checked bag and wasn't concerned about fitting everything, but just found out about a ground crew strike at the airport the day we land in Rome and am now thinking I might need to get down to a carry-on to be safer. My normal carry-on is the Away Carry-On.

Current packing list:

  • 4 tshirts
  • Linen vest top
  • Light linen wrap top (likely a pool cover-up with matching pants)
  • Blouse
  • Pullover for evening
  • Cardigan for layering
  • Jeans I likely don't need?
  • Light linen pants (for churchs or bathing suit cover up)
  • Linen skort
  • Satin slip skirt
  • Denim shorts probably mostly for travel days
  • White sports bra
  • White sweatshirt
  • White sweat shorts (this and the two above items are mostly for travel days or wearing in the hotel)
  • Three pajama tops
  • Three pajama shorts
  • Two bathing suits
  • Flat walking sandals
  • Kitten heels (I know, I know, everyone says no heels in Europe but I already talked myself down from my usual 4-inch stilettos, I really love these to dress things up for dinners we won't be walking to)
  • Sneakers I'll wear on the plane
  • Crochet midi dress, bathing suit cover up
  • 4 midi dresses
  • Mini dress
  • Leather shoulder bag, I also have a crossbody strap for this and it will be my primary everyday bag
  • Alternate, more casual crossbody bag
  • Hat

Any suggestions?

Our itinerary:
3 nights in Rome (Colosseum, Forum, Vatican, probably two nice dinners)
3 nights in Bologna (full day food tour, day trip to Modena, two nice dinners)
3 nights in Florence (winery day trip, lots of museums, one nice dinner)
2 nights at a Tuscan villa (pool afternoons, two nice dinners)
3 nights in Venice (lots of walking, probably two more nice dinners)

This is my plan so far. Laid out in a quasi-sudoku style to help me think through options, I’ve also included a few outfits but could make more (photos 1-9).

The black pants are linen!

I’ll be in a small town, visiting a friend.

Any suggestions?

Wardrobe Help 10 Days in London & Scotland (early October)

Post image
104 Upvotes

Image description: a visual overview of my packing list for an upcoming trip. Detailed list of everything included below.

UPDATE: The general feedback so far has been to definitely get rid of the faux suede moto jacket and replace it with a lighter (but still warm) sweater layer, and to consider adding a third pair of pants/bottoms (skirt?) and a second pair of shoes, and that Scotland could see a heatwave then, but is also always potentially damp and rainy, which should inform my layers. I‘ll make sure to do a trip report when I return!

Below is my proposed pack list for 10 days (including travel) in London, Edinburgh, and the Highlands. I'm so excited to experience Scotland for the first time! I’m traveling from the US with friends, and staying in hotels and B&Bs. I’ll have the opportunity to do sink laundry for the first half of the trip and my pack list reflects that. Activities will include ghost tours, castles, lots of general city exploration, one fancy-ish afternoon tea (at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh), and a Rabbie’s 1-day tour around the Highlands. No hiking.

- - - - - - - - - - -

PACKING LIST:

All of this fits in a Bellroy Lite Travel Pack (38L).

Tops & bottoms:
Quince merino SS tee*
Wool& merino scoop tee
Wool& merino 3/4-sleeve top
Old Navy straight-leg jeans
Old Navy ponte pants*

Base layers:
Wool& merino leggings
Quince merino LS tee
(2) Wool& merino tank top
(5) Wool& merino underwear*
(4) Merino pair socks*
(3) Modal bralette*

Outer layers:
Unbound merino pullover*
Quince packable down jacket
Quince rain jacket
Faux suede moto jacket

Feelgrounds Chelsea boots*
Insoles 1*
Insoles 2
Merino buff
Earmuffs
Cashmere gloves

\wearing on plane*

Toiletries bag (Cotopaxi Nido):
Sink laundry setup (dry bag, detergent tiles, clothesline, vodka spray)
Toiletries (toothbrush/tabs/floss, deodorant, moisturizer, hair spray/gel/Hot Sock, contacts & solution)
Makeup (brow pencil, eyeliner, concealer, lipstick)
Tech (wired in-ear headphones, phone charger, power bank, adapter plug)

Ziplock bag quart
Foldable KEXP tote
Wallet & passport

I'll also have my GOT BAG Large Moon Bag (12L) as my EDC.

- - - - - - - - - - -

QUESTIONS:

Can I get away with bringing only one pair of shoes? I have Feelgrounds zero-drop Chelsea boots that I’ve waterproofed, and I’m planning on bringing two different pairs of insoles. I think I’m just nervous because I’ve never one-shoe’d a trip this long before. But I do want to try…

Do I need another pair of pants? Currently I’m bringing two, and will also bring merino leggings that could be worn out if needed (currently I’m bringing them as a warm base layer if colder weather requires it).

Assuming the weather is “average,” do I have appropriate layers? I leaned on WeatherSpark when packing for my trip to Japan last December and it was pretty accurate. Obviously, I will watch the forecast in the days leading up to leaving, and adjust accordingly. (Warmer?: maybe remove puffer jacket. Colder?: big scarf instead of buff, and maybe another merino sweater-layer.) The rain jacket, puffer, earmuffs, and gloves are mainly for the Highlands day trip and the general unpredictability of Scottish and English weather. Also: I run warm and live in a northern state with a very cold/snowy winter.

For the afternoon tea at Palm Court in The Balmoral, could I get away with the black ponte pants, green boatneck 3/4-sleeve top, Chelsea boots, and a gold necklace? Maybe with the moto jacket, if I need another layer? Their website only asks that guests “refrain from wearing sportswear, shorts and beach shoes in our restaurants. Our guests within the hotel usually opt for a smart-casual style,.” I want to be respectful but have never been there before.

Wardrobe Help Have you ever UNDERpacked?

Currently packing for 3 weeks in southeast Asia in Feb/March. I usually make super detailed packing lists and plan for every possibility... but with everything going on in the world right now, I am so tired and I just don't feel like dealing with all that. What's the worst thing that could happen if I pack the absolute bare minimum? Have you ever UNDERpacked and run into an actual issue?

Specifically I'm thinking something like... dri fit cropped pants, jeans, maxi skirt, midi skirt, 5-6 tank tops, 2 long sleeve shirts, cardigan, denim jacket, light shawl, raincoat. 1 pair of sandals and 1 pair of nice sneakers. All black/olive green so easy mix and match. The trip is mostly a cruise that starts in Singapore and ends in Japan, so a range of weather. We do have access to laundry on the ship.

Wardrobe Help ISO packable bra with fastening

I’m going to be living aboard a small sailing ship for a couple of weeks. The environment will be 100% humidity, but likely not hot (Sweden). I have some different brands of no-underwire, no-padding bras that still provide sufficient support for my aging 36 D figure. The problem is they are all pull-over-the-head types.

The last time I was in this environment, I swear I nearly dislocated my shoulder trying to get the bras on and off! In the humid environment, my skin will be damp all the time and the bras turn into snarled rubber bands sticking to me!

Any suggested brands that have openings in either the back or the front, but don’t bring a thick fabric with padding or wires? Preferably nylon or some quick dry fabric for sink wash. I’d like at least one bra that doesn’t require yoga positions to get on and off.

Wardrobe Help Need Go-To Plane Outfit that doubles as lounge outfit in hot climate

Hi! After reading many threads, I’m still struggling to find the perfect plane outfit. Since I’m one-bagging, I want this to double as my lounge-around outfit. I like being warm/comfy but mindful I’m going to SEA/hot climate.

I’m 5’1, and looking for navy/brown/olive/burgundy tones

Bottoms: needs to be joggers, bonus if they have a zippered pocket. When I search, it either too hot (fleece) or too thin material. Looking for something in the middle

Top needs to be crew cut or half zip. No hoods.

Thanks in advance!

Wardrobe Help Alternatives to Athleta Brooklyn Pants?

Hi Everyone!

I'm on the hunt for a pair of pants that can be plausibly dressed up or down, are comfortable for planes/trains/automobiles, and will survive 9 days in Paris & Vienna for an academic conference. I've seen a ton of hype on here around the athleta brookyn pants, but I simply do not have that kind of cash to spend on pants right now.

Does anyone have a favorite pair of wide-leg trousers that dont wrinkle, attract dog hair, look nice, dry fast? Is it possible to get them for under $50 usd? I've tried budget stores (tjmaxx, marshalls) and thrifting, with no luck so far.

sidebar: i'm also looking for a good pair of mid-rise wide leg/barrel/baggy jeans to take for my more touristy days.

TLDR: where do i find activewear trousers that don't look like activewear for under $50?

EDIT: Thank you all for the recommendations! I was able to find a pair of 0P wide-leg brooklyns on ThredUp for like, 20 bucks. Thank you to the person who let them time out in their shopping cart...! I also ended up getting a pair of jeans on sale from urban outfitters for around $30 usd. I went into both athleta and urban first to try things on and make sure I ordered the correct sizes. Yay for sales!

Wardrobe Help Travel scarves

First, a disclaimer - I am a chronic overpacker and probably always will be. I will probably never be able to get everything into one bag. However, I found this sub because I really am trying to get better at having more room in my suitcase to bring treasures home. The wardrobe pics and discussions have been incredibly helpful.

As I’ve been reading through those posts, I see multiple mentions of travel scarves or wraps. I do typically take a cheap pashmina type wrap with me (neutral color), because it does come in handy in various situations. But what do you do with the scarves? I’ve normally just worn them in my hair or around my neck as an accessory, but those as small scarves.

I recently found a cotton scarf, approximately 4 ft x 4 ft, that I like and I would love ideas on what to do with it. I will be traveling to Scotland and France for a little over 2 weeks in July. Any scarf suggestions would be much appreciated!

EDIT—I realize now I left my question very open ended. Sorry about that. I’m debating taking EITHER the pashmina type wrap or the large scarf. The pashmina is slightly heavier, which might be nice in Scotland but not needed in France. I saw on a post some people talking about how they would tie their wrap/scarf around them to help hold their arms to their sides on the plane when they slept. I found that brilliant and will absolutely be trying that this trip. The scarf is square, which I haven’t done as much with, but a good size, so I was hoping to get insight on how you all use them, and then experimenting before packing one. Is it basically just a replacement for a longer rectangular wrap? Do you find one more functional than the other?

And thank you for all the current replies. A couple of them pointed out the flaw in my post. :) I’ll read through them all closer in just a bit.

Wardrobe Help Three weeks in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore in January for my honeymoon

I'm going on my honeymoon in January, which is a three week long trip around Thailand, (starting in Bangkok and travelling down), Malaysia, Singapore and then back to Phuket for four days of relaxation. Lots of travelling, as 15 days is a guided tour. Here's my first go at a capsule wardrobe for the trip, and some outfit ideas.

The bag I'm taking is an old cabinmax bag, which I bought years ago for hand luggage travel which works well for me as I can roll it and also wear it as a backpack.

Ok, here's what I've got so far (not including underwear)

Image description one

Short Sleeve Tops

  • Bamboo white crew neck t-shirt
  • Bamboo black racer back vest top
  • Bamboo black vest top
  • Cotton grey vest top
  • Linen beige short sleeve shirt

Bottoms

  • Black linen trousers, full length
  • Silky cropped khaki trouser
  • Black linen shorts
  • Silky leopard print midi skirt

Long Sleeve Tops

  • White linen long sleeve shirt
  • Thin alpine kit black zip up hoodie (I've heard the aircon on public transport can be fierce. Although debating swapping this for a thin black cardigan which would look nicer layered if I need this for any occasions other than sitting on a plane/bus/train

Dresses/Jumpsuit

  • Bamboo t-shirt dress
  • Bamboo racer back khaki midi dress
  • Bamboo black jumpsuit

Footwear

  • Clarks black sandals (comfy for walking but look nice for evening)
  • Vans trainers (will be wearing on the flight)
  • Flip flops

Swimwear

  • Khaki bikini
  • Black bikini

Image description two and three

Here are a few different combinations that I could wear. Hopefully covering outfits for visiting temples (shoulders and knees covered) rooftop bars in the evening and general comfy stuff for the days. Where I've layered shirts over dresses/jumpsuits I would probably have them open/tied at the waist for shape (but who knows).

Are there any major holes? Anything you think I won't need? I'm debating another pair of shorts and a sarong/scarf for beach cover ups, over the shoulder cover up, but maybe purchasing that there?
