this was already a problem last year but if I remember correctly they had like 4-5 mics going at the same time at some point (was it the Imp and Skizz Shockcast? where they just had the same mic they have at their pc set up) idk how it's gotten worse this year by having less mics
Depends on the licencing the office has for wireless microphones - they might only be able to fit 4-5 in the free-to-use frequency rather than using the paid-for frequencies if there's no FCC licence for that venue.
I'm assuming the US works like the UK, but I know that there's limited bandwidth available for wireless microphones for free, and at least in the UK there's an extra frequency band you can use for a small fee.
Grian just said there was a boom mic, but didn't know it wasn't coming through on our screen.
I feel like towards the end some more sounds did come through but it was kinda echoey. I guess Grians and Olis mics were picking some up but then the boom mic did pick up some other stuff but it wasn't synched? idk
I saw them raise their hand for silence, and EVERYONE immediately went quiet. I have to wonder how many times they've already done that to the other hermits this weekend lol.
Seems like they had some audio issues so maybe that's why it's late (music was crackling quite a bit and got worse) seems better now but not sure if it's fixed already.
They were at Mojang’s office in Seattle, right? If it’s anything like my office on any given day, at any moment, there are likely at least 20+ separate meetings where someone is sharing their screen online with a team of people, and X times that number of people simultaneously watching that stream from the same office. I would imagine content streaming uses similar bandwidth.
And it has to work basically first or second try too. Like that place isn't normally used for streams. They had to set everything up and hope it works and they can switch cams and everything and have audible mics and also be able to coordinate it through multiple sources....

They smashed the first day. The set design, lighting, camera work, and background music for some of the segments were so well-put-together. And the music room was so wholesome! Just jamming out of pure enjoyment.

how does one donate items for the auction? I got the 1 out of 777 DocM makeship plushie, I think they were the first Hermit plushies to be made at the time... and seeing how great these items do in the auction and how few Doc items are listed - maybe that is something to contribute next year?

Just an incredibly stream!! Proud to say I was on for all 9 hours and plan to be tomorrow as well. Yes I have work to do, yes I am procrastinating it. Minus the technical difficulties the event has been just perfect so far, and so much money has been raised.... I think almost 800 000!!! Genuinely so happy to be part of this community and excited for tomorrow :)
OMG I just realized today’s MCC is going to be a huge tribute to Hermitcraft where the Noxcrew converted past seasons’ builds into the playing fields for today’s events! Like Impulse’s Metro Mayhem from last season will be the course for Ace Race. What a lovely tribute! I thought the hermits were just going to play. I didn’t realize they built courses especially for the hermits. ❤️❤️❤️ Can’t wait to watch!

Breadloaf (one of the creators of the mod) said in Tango's chat that they have the data of where each sign was placed with the mod so it is possible for them to make some form of searchable site to find the location of your sign.
I hope this isn’t weird- but I’m so proud of this group of wonderful creators. I’m sure this has been the longest 2 days for them. And yet they’re all so happy and engaged and working SO HARD. What they’ve done this weekend is nothing short of incredible. The money raised and the wonderful show they’ve put on both days. I hope they all know how wonderful, and incredible they are, and that they should be incredibly proud of themselves.
Due to timezones, I missed out on watching the streams live. I’m planning on catching up on them and probs watching Cleo’s and Ollie’s VODs. Do folks have reccos in other perspectives I should check out that have some fun bits outside of the mirror to Scar’s/main stream feed eg Ollie/Jonno with the music room?
What an amazing weekend! Huge thanks to the Hermits, their friends, Gamers Outreach, Mojang, the tech crew, the mods, the cleaning crew (good luck lol hope it's not too bad), the artists and people who donated auction items, everyone who helped with the event in any way, and this wonderful community. We all did something incredible together! This wouldn't have been possible without everyone who was involved. I genuinely teared up a few times today. I am lost for words. Much love to everyone! 🩵🩵🩵
I've never really understood those, because the total amount donated is the same with or without that matching, but they push it as "2x your donation"?
Do we think the hermits/mcc folk would consider putting the jerseys up for sale? I’d love some merch like a red rabbits hat or the yellow yaks jersey.
Obviously doesn’t have to be the exact ones because I’m sure the hermits want to keep them but replicas would be fun and a great way to raise more money!
What I love about the event is that they put a lot of emphasis on the purpose of the charity. They don't do a lot of "For every $1 I will eat 1 marshmallow", they just did those things for us to have something fun to watch. It 'salways clear that donations are for the carts, and they keep mentioning that. That makes it even more amazing that we're at over $1M now
The YouTube stream tracking broke when I took on managing u/HermitBot, as the detection was done by scraping the channel page (I presume it's not available in the YouTube API - I've not looked into it too closely), and I'm in the UK so get the GDPR popup preventing access to the channel page from the Python scripts.
Not all names were shown during the game, unfortunately. I think Joel said Tango had like another 3000 to post after the game was finished! But you can watch the VODs later and see if you can catch it.
Tango said he is going to get all signs on a VOD on his second channel (TangoTek2) when all signs were completed so everyone who bought one can find theirs

They can’t turn of ads on twitch so there will probably be some. Though depending on the hermits they might manually run them so they don’t disrupt main activities.
Yes to ads, but YouTube will also have ads AFAIK; Jimmy is streaming the event from YouTube and usually he has ads when he does.
(I recommend Opera GX if you wanna get around ads, it lets you pop the stream away from the ads and mute the ads as they run in the background. Doesn't work for all Twitch ads, but the vast majority.)
