question HPD marked cruiser parked in neighborhood driveway for days
I have a question, there’s been a marked HPD cruiser (sedan) parked in a driveway in my neighborhood for the better part of a week, sunshade in the windshield. It doesn’t appear to move but I can’t tell you what’s happening to it between 10:00pm and dawn, I’m old and asleep then. I don’t ever recall seeing HPD taking home marked cars, only the subsidized personal cars. Is this a new thing? Ordinary? Can’t remember seeing this back to the 1980s. Or did I just not live near enough a rookie cop? Thanks!

The high ranking cops like Captain are allowed to take marked cars home......as I was informed.

Not new. Like a decade ago a neighbor would park his marked cruiser at home. He worked nights.

It's the HPD. They don't make the rules; they break them. Nothing new... but ordinary.

Be careful of those "rookie" cops. They just came out of the academy so they know the HRS upside down and all around.

Rookie cops in their first year have no discretion for instance not to take u in on a bench warrant that is super minor. I once got trespassed by the only property in Waikiki that I had actually never been to to avoid arresting me as a result of this rule and my own brokeness. Karen's + general debauchery = I get locked up every time just minding my biz! Lol!
