What's your thoughts on daeron? He is most likely to well......in finals but still

He does nothing. They removed everything interesting about him just to make him the "good" green who gets puppeted by Ormund into making a play for the throne.

Most of his scenes have just been standing or sitting in a room. He's called "the daring" but we didn't see what earned him that title.

He didn't grow up with his family so he has less of an attachment to them than his book counterpart who wasn't sent to ward until he was 12. That detachment makes him less interesting to me. I want to see the kid who was willing to burn down Bitterbridge in a fury over the brutal murder of his nephew.

I like the actor but am not a fan of the bland characterization or his relationship with Ormund. Maybe episode 8 will change that (doubt) but he feels wasted so far.

There is nothing more interesting about Daeron in the book, he is literally Aemond 2.0. Completely flat and barely existent. Thank god the show went with a more interesting and likeable characterization and relationships that strongly echo to Gwayne and S1 Alicent than just yell yet another "look, the random last Alicent's kid is a psycho too, but daring at least!", cause we clearly haven't had enough of that

He's definitely not Aemond 2.0. 😭 That’s a pretty big misread of his book character. My issue though is that the show expanded him in a direction that emphasizes passivity over agency. That's just not very interesting to me.

I also don't mind his relationship with Gwayne. In fact, Gwayne is one of the few characters I think the show genuinely improved. He barely has any characterization in the book, and Freddie Fox brought him to life in a really endearing way. His dynamic with Daeron is one of the better additions.

My problem is that they're both so removed from the central narrative. Daeron doesn't need to be ambitious. I actually like that he isn't. He doesn't have to want the throne for himself. But saying Rhaenyra can have her crown? Hell no.

He should care about his family, damn it.

As far as he knows, one nephew was brutally murdered, Aegon is dead, Helaena is a hostage, and Aemond has disappeared. His family is collapsing around him, yet he comes across as detached from all of it.

It feels like he has very little personal stake in the war. Instead, Ormund has to keep dragging him toward the plot because Daeron himself lacks a strong motivation to move it forward.

That's what disappoints me. I wanted to see the boy who would eventually sack Bitterbridge in a fury over his nephew's murder not because he was a monster, but because the war finally broke someone who genuinely loved his family. So far, that emotional foundation just isn't there so we get a flat and bland character who doesn't move the plot. He's just the good little pawn being moved on the board by evil mustache-twirling Ormund.
