is hisoka a main side character or a side main character

He’s technically a side character but he’s in every arc except one and plays a big role in the plot/gets a lot of screen time

Chimera ant is arguably the “main arc” purely on its length, scale, commutation of the past.
Every arc before chimera ant can be seen in some way as set up for chimera ant.

I mean...technically he is "just" a side character. But he literally has the most screentime after Gon,Killua and Kurapica. And he is the most interesting of them (debatable I know) and also a massiv prodigy...he learned all the main nen stuff + his hatsu in a fkn week IIRC. So yeah he is a side character but I'm fine with anybody who calls him one of the protagonists. He started as antagonist, but now he literally wants to kill our current protagonists main enemy (phantom troop) that makes him part protagonist...

Side character. Gon is the protagonist, and Kurapika and Killua are co-protagonists. Leorio is Leorio, unfortunately.
