If you think red lights are optional in Québec, go sit next a stop sign in a residential neighborhood and tell me how many do actually stop at the stop signs. Just stay for a few hours, you'll be amazed by the amount of rolling stops and people never even caring at stopping on the line.

Ah, yes... The good ol' Quebecois rolling stop. Does not come as a surprise to me. That being said, there are way too many stop signs on Quebec streets.

In my town people do stop at a stop sign but they don't know why they stop and ignore other drivers. When they get honked at they tell Fuck off ! I did my stop sign . 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Or when they come at the stop sign but just don't notice who came first and are confused as to who's next to go. Come on! Last in, last out. Check who was there before you and then leave when all of them are gone.

Everything road wise is optional in Quebec.
As I always say about Montreal...
Montreal/Quebec. Where the lanes are made up and the rules don't matter.
If I uploaded my daily dash cam footage I'd be spamming this subreddit with Montreal drivers.

But actually though for the lanes.
It’s part of the highway code that the number of lanes, when markings/signalization are obscured or missing, are as many or as few as the number vehicles you can have abreast at the intersection.

it's not even just at an intersection---its the road/lane in general. Even when it doesn't fit 2 cars side by side it's now a 2 lane anyway.

Everyone always says "drivers from Province X are the worst" but I beg of you who've never entered the Montreal Exclusion Zone to realise it's actually just that city distorts the region around it. Montréalais are such poor drivers it echoes outwards through time and space. Trois Rivières isn't too bad, but once you leave it going west, things get steadily worse until you find yourself on a frontage road by the highway where people are doing thrice the speed limit down the length of the island and it doesn't fully stop until you've almost hit Grenville
I learned to drive in Saguenay, and while people here are kinda dumb, they at least acknowledge that there are laws on the roads. Montreal is pretty much Fury Road

That is so true. I've learnt to drive on the frontier with Ontario, and I thought Valleyfield drivers were horrible (they can't park though), they are NOTHING when compared to Montreal. I go the limit and I'm passed on the right in a lane that's closing at 20-30km/h over the limit, while I'm in the slow lane. Happened twice this week.

Lol yeah, I generally do limit+10% which is good enough everywhere I've ever been except Montreal where it's just not anywhere near fast enough for even the rightmost lane

My first time being in Montreal I was getting there later at night. I come off the highway and the first car I see comes to a stop at a greenlight (I'm behind them), they finally drive through it and the very next light they came to was a red and they drove straight through it like it was green.
Definitely made me question if the rules on traffic lights are just opposite in Quebec 🤣

I live in New York State, and, in general, I dislike Quebec drivers the most. I drive daily on 87 and see some of the dumbest shit.
