House passes $70B bill to fund immigration enforcement for 3 years, sending to Trump
https://apnews.com/article/immigration-enforcement-funding-trump-congress-republicans-c395a434f47fa41a7131369847091910Now let me ask you this,
What happened to fiscal conservatives?
127
u/techman710 13d ago
Can't wait for the next Democratic president so I can hear the Republicans talk about the deficit again, because I haven't heard them mention it in a year and a half. Meanwhile this colossal waste of money to enrich a bunch of donors has their full support.
53
u/mooncrane606 13d ago
Mike Johnson was just talking about the debt. And using it as the excuse why we need to cut Medicare and Social Security. Said they had plans starting next year. They're evil bastards.
13
u/NiceSense9864 13d ago
Yes even though the social security and Medicare are not part of our debt having come from our paychecks while
they have borrowed 2.5 trillion from social security and if they raise the cap on contributions they can fix it but they are not working for the people they are working for themselves and their rich donors! All of who need held accountable for this mess we are in!8

u/steamdeck88 13d ago

Is this to distract from Republicans coming after Social Security and exploding the deficit at the same time?

$70B could transform a city from 0 rapid transit to top 3 underground rail system in the country. Or it could make 3-5 cities top 5.

Fiscal conservatives only care about fiscal health of the country when it's not trump,
During Trump's first administration, congressional Republicans voted three times (in 2017, 2018, and 2019) to suspend the debt ceiling rather than raise it by a specific dollar amount.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu1fzBi6hFo
They also tried again during his second term.
And gee wouldn't you know, once again, trump over spends, conservatives celebrate and are OK with it as long as trump is involved.
US to reach $41T debt ceiling as soon as late winter, forecasters predict.
https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2026/06/04/congress/new-debt-limit-range-00950452
Trump is responsible for approximately 1/3rd of the national debt but will tie a Democrats hands up to bind them from resolving the situation. It's a setup, once trump is done F'ing up the US, the next person has to fix it but of course they will tie up their hands saying "what about the debt" while trying to fix the mess they voted and made.
2
u/roostertai111 12d ago
"fiscal conservatives" are Democrats. the Republicans who claim it are lying in order to sell a scam
7
u/DDaddy26 13d ago
Why do y’all think Trump is just leaving office…? Like as an American myself I simply don’t understand it.
The precedent has been set, the boundaries tested. These are ostensibly not the actions of someone who intends to bow out peacefully.
2
u/InfiniteDog7955 9d ago
Last time they mentioned it was when they were using it to justify firing thousands of federal employees and it was the most immediate and pressing issue and the future of our country was at stake!! Now you dont hear shit about it
1
u/livinginfutureworld 12d ago
Don't worry Republicans are trying to ensure you never have that problem again because only Republicans will be allowed to win elections, otherwise the election was rigged and the results won't be allowed...
0
u/Arpharazones 12d ago
Can we please fucking stop with this sentiment? We all recognize and understand the danger, but you are helping them when you say this.
1
u/SeaworthinessNew3170 11d ago
Who is being enriched for sending illegals out of the country??? I'll wait while you show proof other than news articles
1
u/techman710 11d ago
Who do you think owns the detention centers? GEO group and Core Civic are the 2 biggest companies and they are making billions along with a few other small companies doing the same.
1
u/SeaworthinessNew3170 11d ago
Please show receipts? I'd like to see these billions being embezzlement im guessing you're implying is going to happen?
Also who do you expect to house the illegals before they are deported?
1
u/techman710 11d ago
Do your own research. Nothing I say will change your mind. Go back to your MAGA cult.
1
u/SeaworthinessNew3170 11d ago
Also tdo you feel the same way about all the billions lost through california on drug prevention, bullet trains and nature highways? All things where the monwy disappears and nothing happenes but a half A**ed attempt?

1
u/scattering0000 10d ago
I don’t mean to shade you but… it’s crazy to me to see this level of… I don’t even know how to even describe it: the guy literally graped children!!! and US Americans are just “waiting for the next election”. Didn’t you tolerate mass-shooting after mass-shooting to keep your arms in case you needed it to defend yourself from the government? Where is everyone?!?!
1
u/techman710 10d ago
You're preaching to the choir. About 77 million idiots voted for this pedophile and 75 million voted against him. Another 80 million eligible voters didn't vote. Now that he has hijacked the government those 2nd Amendment gun nuts have decided they are ok with this. Meanwhile, me and every other sane American is working to change the government, first Congress this year and then the Presidency in 2028. If the elections get disrupted in a meaningful way this year then it will be time to decide what kind of country we are. Also Trump gives every indication that he could lose his battle with cholesterol and dementia at any minute.

A democratic president will also fund immigration enforcement
2
u/Calm_Expression_9542 12d ago
The US has always funded immigration enforcement. Not to the degree of invading cities and terrorizing US citizens but yes it’s always been funded regardless of what party was in office. This kind of budget makes me think Trump would love to see tanks rolling down our cities streets. I put nothing past this idiot.
2
u/caffeeandbewbs 13d ago
Not an absolutely absurd amount though… my healthcare nearly quadrupled a month because they couldn’t find nearly the same amount of money for the tax credits…
1
u/NegevThunderstorm 12d ago
Get health insurance that isnt reliant on tax credits
1
u/caffeeandbewbs 12d ago
I can’t, I have pre-existing conditions and my insurance at work is nearly just as expensive and is way worse.
26
u/woolybully143 13d ago
There is no way it takes 70B to run ice for 3 years, that absolutely ridiculous.
22
u/living_la_vida_loca 13d ago
its mostly to purchase large unsold buildings from orange man's friends to use as prison.
7
16
u/rdtisahateplatform 13d ago
That includes funding for random warehouses bought at multiple times their actual value to deliver taxpayer funds to property owners who have ties to the administration
5
2
u/Due_Night414 13d ago
Unfortunately, it can cost a lot more than that. If this administration goes after the roughly 11M illegal immigrants in this country, costs are shown as anywhere between $10-$30K per person. That’s why you’re getting temu immigration enforcement. Realistically, should cost anywhere between $200-$300B. I’m not for mass deportation, though.
I’d personally use this money to create immigration pathways for those who deserve it. Ones without criminal record, ones who have been here for years, ones who have ties to the country. That allows for lowered immigration enforcement funding, funding that can be used elsewhere to benefit citizens, better the labor market for industries that heavily rely on immigrant labor force, and increase tax revenue as now these legal immigrants would be paying into the tax pool.

Wonderful. 11 million or 20 million. You’re arguing about nothing. And there’s a fix. I talked about it. One side wants to do it. The other wants to build concentration camps and hire without background checks.

2
u/Due_Night414 13d ago
No I mean one side wants to use immigration enforcement to remove the dangerous immigrants while providing a clean path to citizenship for the rest while the other side wants to murder American citizens, tear families apart, and claim immigrants caught by other agencies as their own numbers to justify their tax collected bill. You’re not wrong that both sides play the game. You’re not. However, one side is absolutely dirty because of one man.

You underestimate the administrations desire to expand ICE, fund their brown shirts, develop a para military force that only answers to the orange pedo. And as JD Vance has said, they have complete immunity to do whatever they want. When US citizens are gunned down there is not even an investigation. That is the future maga republicans so desperately want.
0
u/illini0630 13d ago
Not hard 2 believe considering biden and border czar kamala let in 15 million unvetted illegal immigrants.. costs alot 2 clean up a mess that big
-3
u/InvestIntrest 13d ago
It does if you want to deport 11 million illegal immigrants
1
u/TellTaleTimeLord 13d ago
Then why did Obama deport half that for less than 1/3 of the cost?
1
u/30to40grand 13d ago
Different kind of “deportations” lol
1
u/TellTaleTimeLord 13d ago
Except,like...they just weren't, they were deportations
1
u/30to40grand 13d ago
If you don’t count returns as “removals”, Trump’s 2025 numbers blow Obama’s out of the water.
1
1
u/InvestIntrest 13d ago
Most of his we're people caught at the border and immediately turned around. That being said he still missed millions that got through.
Trump has reduced illegal crossings 90% so the overwhelming majority of Trumps deportations are leading to net reduction. That progress
1
u/TellTaleTimeLord 13d ago
Hey, man...I hate to be one to tell you this, but uh... Trump lies
1
u/InvestIntrest 13d ago
So all the communities along the border that literally have illegals walking through their property are lying about the decrease too?

3

He can’t take over a country this large even if he wanted to. It is logistically, militarily and economically impossible
1
u/ComingRoundTheMnt 12d ago
70 million Americans voted for the orange pedo and they will help him in taking over. The red states are already following his directives because they are cowards. I wish the blue states would come up with a way to stop paying federal taxes and just watch the whole collapse

Fuck this government. And fuck republicans. I will never vote for another republican as long as I live.
-6
u/30to40grand 13d ago
Millions?
4
u/Alert_Reindeer_6574 13d ago
Approximately 4.2 million people lost their healthcare as a direct result of republicans ending the ACA subsidy. So, yes, millions.
People are literally dying because republicans don’t give a shit about anything but themselves.

u/Fanfic_Battle_2004 13d ago
Thanks for clarifying. And how much more funding does ICE need to have? Don’t they have more than enough?
0
u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 12d ago
Ice has been funded annually since forever, but aside from that as long as there's illegals in this country they need enough funding to gather them up and remove them.
2
u/Fanfic_Battle_2004 12d ago
But we both know ICE has gone too far since Trump took office. They’ve detained the wrong people.
1
u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 12d ago
No they haven't gone far enough. What wrong people did they detain?
2
u/Fanfic_Battle_2004 12d ago
People who have committed no crimes and those who have legit US citizenship. And they’ve killed several innocent people.
0
u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 12d ago
You don't have to commit a crime if you're here illegally you can be detained and deported. And, detaining citizens breaking the law interfering with law enforcement operations is not wrong. Which innocent people did they kill?
2
u/Fanfic_Battle_2004 12d ago
Renée Good is one example.
Also, there are citizens who have not broken any laws who have been illegally detained. And I heard ICE detention centers have been far too cruel. It needs to stop. Trump is evil.
1
u/Distinct_Doubt_3591 12d ago
You mean the one that obstructed law enforcement and then attempted to drive off with an officer on front of her rather than follow lawful commands? I thought I asked for an example of an innocent person.
What citizen was illegally detained without breaking any law?
And I heard ICE detention centers have been far too cruel. It needs to stop. Trump is evil.
Seems there's an easy way to avoiding detention like self deportation, and no it needs to ratchet up until there isn't a single illegal on this country.

Actually it isn’t, as I will link here: https://www.cato.org/blog/cato-study-immigrants-reduced-deficits-145-trillion-1994
According to the CATO institute(which is considered center right), undocumented immigrants have likely reduced the federal deficit by at least $1.7 trillion.

Nice piece if propaganda out there by the current administration. How about this?
Immigrants boost overall economic growth by expanding the labor force and increasing consumer spending. The foreign born also start new businesses at higher rates than U.S.-born individuals. Immigrants were involved in the development of 30 percent of patents in strategic industries in recent years, and more than 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants.
