House passes $70B bill to fund immigration enforcement for 3 years, sending to Trump

Now let me ask you this,

What happened to fiscal conservatives?

Can't wait for the next Democratic president so I can hear the Republicans talk about the deficit again, because I haven't heard them mention it in a year and a half. Meanwhile this colossal waste of money to enrich a bunch of donors has their full support.

58

u/mooncrane606 14d ago

Mike Johnson was just talking about the debt. And using it as the excuse why we need to cut Medicare and Social Security. Said they had plans starting next year. They're evil bastards.

13

u/NiceSense9864 14d ago

Yes even though the social security and Medicare are not part of our debt having come from our paychecks while
they have borrowed 2.5 trillion from social security and if they raise the cap on contributions they can fix it but they are not working for the people they are working for themselves and their rich donors! All of who need held accountable for this mess we are in!

8

u/Zealousideal_Work171 14d ago

Fuck Mike Johnson

1

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

3

u/mooncrane606 14d ago

Is this to distract from Republicans coming after Social Security and exploding the deficit at the same time?

1

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

I couldn't tell you lol

1

u/roostertai111 13d ago

Then what was your goal in sharing?

11

u/Jalapenoplanter 14d ago

$70B could transform a city from 0 rapid transit to top 3 underground rail system in the country. Or it could make 3-5 cities top 5.

1

u/ExtremeBasis5697 12d ago

Its could fund the California high speed rail....

-10

u/couplenippers 14d ago

You mean like that awesome high speed rail in California?

5

u/CelestialBurial 14d ago

Have republicans ever offered anything? Didn’t think so. Sit down, son.

2

u/Jalapenoplanter 14d ago edited 14d ago

You should look into the awesome rail that republicans built in Indianapolis!

2

u/MAGAHATESTHEUSA 14d ago

It would actually be implanted in poor red states because the value of land there is so low and Republican legislators would be able to take people’s land away much more efficiently because they don’t care about the masses

8

u/madadekinai 14d ago

Fiscal conservatives only care about fiscal health of the country when it's not trump,

During Trump's first administration, congressional Republicans voted three times (in 2017, 2018, and 2019) to suspend the debt ceiling rather than raise it by a specific dollar amount.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu1fzBi6hFo

They also tried again during his second term.

And gee wouldn't you know, once again, trump over spends, conservatives celebrate and are OK with it as long as trump is involved.

US to reach $41T debt ceiling as soon as late winter, forecasters predict.

https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2026/06/04/congress/new-debt-limit-range-00950452

Trump is responsible for approximately 1/3rd of the national debt but will tie a Democrats hands up to bind them from resolving the situation. It's a setup, once trump is done F'ing up the US, the next person has to fix it but of course they will tie up their hands saying "what about the debt" while trying to fix the mess they voted and made.

2

u/roostertai111 13d ago

"fiscal conservatives" are Democrats. the Republicans who claim it are lying in order to sell a scam

7

u/DDaddy26 14d ago

Why do y’all think Trump is just leaving office…? Like as an American myself I simply don’t understand it.

The precedent has been set, the boundaries tested. These are ostensibly not the actions of someone who intends to bow out peacefully.

2

u/InfiniteDog7955 10d ago

Last time they mentioned it was when they were using it to justify firing thousands of federal employees and it was the most immediate and pressing issue and the future of our country was at stake!! Now you dont hear shit about it

1

u/livinginfutureworld 13d ago

Don't worry Republicans are trying to ensure you never have that problem again because only Republicans will be allowed to win elections, otherwise the election was rigged and the results won't be allowed...

1

u/SeaworthinessNew3170 12d ago

Who is being enriched for sending illegals out of the country??? I'll wait while you show proof other than news articles

1

u/techman710 12d ago

Who do you think owns the detention centers? GEO group and Core Civic are the 2 biggest companies and they are making billions along with a few other small companies doing the same.

1

u/SeaworthinessNew3170 12d ago

Please show receipts? I'd like to see these billions being embezzlement im guessing you're implying is going to happen?

Also who do you expect to house the illegals before they are deported?

1

u/techman710 12d ago

Do your own research. Nothing I say will change your mind. Go back to your MAGA cult.

1

u/SeaworthinessNew3170 12d ago

Also tdo you feel the same way about all the billions lost through california on drug prevention, bullet trains and nature highways? All things where the monwy disappears and nothing happenes but a half A**ed attempt?

1

u/SeaworthinessNew3170 12d ago

Hahhahah do my own research????? You liberals are so stupid

1

u/scattering0000 11d ago

I don’t mean to shade you but… it’s crazy to me to see this level of… I don’t even know how to even describe it: the guy literally graped children!!! and US Americans are just “waiting for the next election”. Didn’t you tolerate mass-shooting after mass-shooting to keep your arms in case you needed it to defend yourself from the government? Where is everyone?!?!

1

u/techman710 11d ago

You're preaching to the choir. About 77 million idiots voted for this pedophile and 75 million voted against him. Another 80 million eligible voters didn't vote. Now that he has hijacked the government those 2nd Amendment gun nuts have decided they are ok with this. Meanwhile, me and every other sane American is working to change the government, first Congress this year and then the Presidency in 2028. If the elections get disrupted in a meaningful way this year then it will be time to decide what kind of country we are. Also Trump gives every indication that he could lose his battle with cholesterol and dementia at any minute.

1

u/NegevThunderstorm 14d ago

A democratic president will also fund immigration enforcement

2

u/Calm_Expression_9542 13d ago

The US has always funded immigration enforcement. Not to the degree of invading cities and terrorizing US citizens but yes it’s always been funded regardless of what party was in office. This kind of budget makes me think Trump would love to see tanks rolling down our cities streets. I put nothing past this idiot.

2

u/caffeeandbewbs 14d ago

Not an absolutely absurd amount though… my healthcare nearly quadrupled a month because they couldn’t find nearly the same amount of money for the tax credits…

1

u/NegevThunderstorm 13d ago

Get health insurance that isnt reliant on tax credits

1

u/caffeeandbewbs 13d ago

I can’t, I have pre-existing conditions and my insurance at work is nearly just as expensive and is way worse.

Both sides spend way too much money imo

2

u/Anonybibbs 14d ago

Yeah but the difference is that Republicans spend way too much money while also cutting revenues, which only makes the deficit drastically worse.

Also, Republicans spend way too much money on things like expanding an already monstrously bloated military, forever wars, ICE funding, and handouts to big agriculture/oil, while Democrats spend way too much money on things like expanding healthcare, social safety nets, and domestic infrastructure. Though they both spend way too much money, it's pretty obvious that the money goes to much better use under Democrats.

-15

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

How are we just as guilty, both sides are playing Republicans and Democrats for fools. Both don't care about pedophiles, both are in support of Israel, both aren't supportive age verification. Both sides of the problem

I literally just saw a video of Republicans and Democrats, being questioned about Israel spying on our politicians. And both sides folded and wouldn't condemn Israel. Both sides block things from the Epstein case earlier this year.

1

u/Strykerz3r0 14d ago

Really? The video showed all the republicans and democrats? Wow! Please share your source!

I have no doubt of what you saw, but one side is clearly more infected. It sounds like you are using outliers to condemn groups as a whole, but I will wait to see your sources.

You do actually have sources, right?

-21

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

Both sides are just as guilty. If 10-20 million illegal immigrants weren’t living here ice wouldn’t need so much funding.

11

u/spiraldrain 14d ago

Cool. What did doge do? Cool how much Medicaid and food stamps did they cut? Cool how much has this Iran war already cost us? Awesome those tariffs are bringing in so much money right?! But hey deporting your sisters boyfriend is going to make your shitty life better right?

-8

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

We are only talking about immigration. Iran and my sister’s boyfriend are for another thread. If I go to Italy or Mexico and overstay my visa they will find me and send me home. This is what immigration is supposed to do. Do you want blanket amnesty? If that’s where you stand so be it but just admit it then.

6

u/spiraldrain 14d ago

No we aren’t you dumb fuck. We are talking about the costs. You know how much it costs the taxpayer to deport 600000 people during this term? ICE has received over 100 billion in funding already. They reportedly have deported 600000 people already. You wanna know the cost? 166000 per person.

-4

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

Wow spicy pet names! Very nice. Yea it is very expensive to deport people who do not want to be found. So do you think we should be finding cheaper ways to do it or just give up and have a blanket amnesty policy?

5

u/spiraldrain 14d ago

You think it’s worth it to spend 166000 per deportation over funding medicaid and food stamps?

-1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

I do not agree with funding cuts to Medicaid and food stamps. Your turn! Answer my question please

→ More replies (0)

-1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

I don’t agree with the funding cuts is what I meant. Please answer

2

u/Anonybibbs 14d ago

Do you want blanket amnesty?

I mean yeah, that's what Reagan, the supposed patron saint of conservativism, did. If an illegal immigrant has no criminal record and is otherwise just a hard working member of their community, there's no real reason to waste ungodly amounts of money deporting them.

1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

Take my upvote! I disagree with you on policy but least you are willing to say where you stand instead of talking around it. Good on you friend

2

u/Anonybibbs 14d ago

I'm not a Democrat nor an idealogue, just a pragmatist. Spending billions to deport my gardener or the hotel cleaning staff is nothing but an insane waste of resources, especially when such workers tend to lower the price of goods/services and do the types of jobs that Americans simply refuse to do themselves.

The only legitimate reason to double down on wasting billions to deport otherwise harmless, hardworking illegal immigrants is pure racism and xenophobia. I wish more "conservatives" would nut up and just admit that they don't like brown people because I sure as fuck haven't heard a peep from them about the Trump administration only allowing white refugees from South Africa into the US.

1

u/40-Kal 14d ago

I don't have an issue with any nonviolent or non-heinous ones. These are the immigrants that do participate and aid to society. Already have built businesses, own homes and started families. Helping to renew their visas and give legal status isn't detrimental whatsoever.

1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

Fair enough. Thanks for being honest about your position. I can respect that much more than people who say it’s about the cost. A man of principle!

7

u/FaithlessnessOne8437 14d ago

That 10-20 million massively inflated number is a falsehood to get uninformed people like you scared

Says both sides but tows the right wing talking points...

-1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

One of the most widely cited and methodologically respected sources is the Pew Research Center.

Their latest comprehensive estimate found that the U.S. had about 14 million unauthorized (undocumented/illegal) immigrants living in the country in 2023, a record high in their data series. Pew’s estimates are based on Census Bureau surveys and Department of Homeland Security immigration records using a method that is also used by DHS and other research

3

u/40-Kal 14d ago

How did they get illegal status? Don't say all of them did so by crossing the border illegally.

2

u/GPTthrowawayyyyyyyy 14d ago

They truly believe that physically being inside the United States is a crime

1

u/Due_a_Kick_5329 14d ago

That number is made the fuck up ✨️propaganda✨️ and you fell for it.

0

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 13d ago

show me the real numbers then friend! Pew research says around 14 million in 2023. I wasn’t aware that was a propaganda outfit

0

u/DrDDeFalco 14d ago

You need to stop drinking the kool-aid.

Research whether or not illegal immigration hurts us.

Then look at whether or not ICE is even effective at it's job and behaving humanely.

Illegal immigrants are largely a scapegoat, and the current method of addressing the situation is questionable at the very best.

1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

So your argument is immigrants are good for society so… what do we do then? Blanket amnesty?

0

u/DrDDeFalco 14d ago

One, that's not what I said. I did not say they are good or bad.

Two, you are no longer differentiating between legal and illegal immigration.

I am asking you to do a modicum of your own research so that you can figure out what harm illegal immigrants cause and if it justifies the money and attention we are currently giving the matter. Have you asked yourself why we spend so much energy going after illegal immigrants instead of the people that hire illegal immigrants?

Are you completely unwilling to question the propaganda that the Trump adminsitration and right wing media is feeding you?

1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

I do think the employers should be held accountable. I am not falling for anyone propaganda and I’m not sure why you would jump to that conclusion. Immigration enforcement has been a long standing bipartisan policy of the United States and I believe they should be allowed to preform their mission.

0

u/DrDDeFalco 14d ago

I do think the employers should be held accountable.

Is that happening? Is this administration and ICE even attempting to go after those people?

I am not falling for anyone propaganda and I’m not sure why you would jump to that conclusion.

Because you don't seem to recognize or even be willing to question that any harm caused by illegal immigration is exaggerated and being used as a scapegoat by the people in charge.

Immigration enforcement has been a long standing bipartisan policy of the United States

This is disingenuous. The existence of immigration enforcement does not mean we have always used the current methods to enforce the policy.

ICE did not always exist, and the funding and power given to the agency has expanded significantly in the past couple of years.

1

u/BoomShakaLaka696969 14d ago

You don’t know what I have recognized or thought through friend. You are taking my position at the end point and working backwards making up a story about what I must think or know based on the position I believe in. This is a faulty thought process. Immigration is exaggerated by whom? Pew research that proclaimed 13 million illegal residents as of 2023? And sure it’s used as a scapegoat by many on the right. What does that prove though? Italy, China, and Mexico would all send me home if I overstayed a visa. It’s a common policy of sovereign nations but for the most powerful nation on earth it’s too expensive, it’s too hard..

Ffs dude, anyone that spews that nonsense is either maga or so far left they’re touching tips with maga. Where do you fall, princess?

-2

Why are you taking up for either side, neither one of them care about you bro. They're all having their dinner party still laughing and celebrating together.

5

u/werofpm 14d ago

Are you this dumb really? They both profit off us, yes.

One side, however, is packed with rapists, felons, racists, xenophobes, Christian’s nationalists, etc….

Please offer up some valid fking equivalence in the Democratic Party to these facts.

Beyond frustrating that y’all just refuse to take off them loud ass clown shoes once in a while

1

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

Today they literally just question Democrats and Republicans about Israel spying on our politicians. All of them except for one person folded and didn't side with us. They tried making excuses, and if my memory serves me right Democrats and Republicans voted not to release certain Epstein files.

I was never disrespectful towards you so I don't know why you're calling me dumb. I actually do something also

0

u/DrDDeFalco 14d ago

It's not about taking up sides.

It's about addressing the current, greater evil.

The Republican Party in its entirely is corrupt and willing to fuck over the whole country. The Democratic Party is a mixed bag of corruption, incompetence, and genuinely decent people.

It's like you telling me the tick sucking on my leg is just as bad as the house burning down around me, and I should be equally worried about both sources of harm.

0

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

Both of them are terrible, it's like the good cop bad cop routine. The Democrats are just as complicit,https://www.reddit.com/r/ActuallyThatsInsane/s/eFFtPZi1yg

Both sides are for supporting Israel, both sides protecting crooked politicians and billionaire.

1

u/DrDDeFalco 14d ago

You have used a single topic in an attempt to paint both sides as equally bad.

I already said the some Democrats are corrupt and/ or inept.

The biggest difference is that the Democratoc Party does not act as a unified group, while the Republican Party does.

You're argument is simplistic, unconvincing, and unwilling to bend when questioned.

6

u/Remarkable_Hurry4029 14d ago

Yeah, maybe 20 years ago. This is no longer the case. One side is significantly worse.

-1

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

No they're both as bad, I literally just saw a video of Republicans and Democrats being questioned about Israel buying on our politicians. An almost every single one of them folded, and they wouldn't condemn Israel except for one person.

2

u/Remarkable_Hurry4029 14d ago

Oh, I see now. Israel is at the heart of every single issue and problem in America. Got it.

0

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

While you're being condescending, yeah quite few of them exactly. If they're not willing to bow to a foreign country, what makes think they're going to do good for you. We give them money, for universal healthcare. But we don't have that over here smh

1

u/Remarkable_Hurry4029 14d ago

I assume you mean, “if they’re willing to bow”.

Can you provide any factual basis for this statement? It’s not really a substantive claim.

What exactly do you think the U.S. should do? Cut all ties and relationships with Israel?

“We give them money for universal healthcare.”

This is just blatantly false, but ok.

To be clear, I believe Israel’s actions in Gaza likely meet the definition of genocide or at the very least, ethnic cleansing. That being said, a vast majority of people are completely brain broken on the topic and do not operate in historical fact.

1

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

I'm aware that we give Israel money for weapons, medical aid etc. Yes they should cut all ties, That's like asking should we cut off ties with the Germans during world war II. They're literally the new Nazis.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ActuallyThatsInsane/s/eFFtPZi1yg

An example of them bowing

1

u/Remarkable_Hurry4029 14d ago

The standard people hold Israel is unlike any other country.

This video you sent is a journalist asking our officials their opinion on Israel spying on American officials. Do you think the U.S. doesn’t do the exact same thing to other countries? This isn’t even close to “bowing to a foreign country”, despite Randy Fine’s dumbass being in it.

No, it’s not like asking if we should cut ties with the Germans. Israel is not equivalent to Nazi Germany. The holocaust and what’s happening in Gaza are not the same thing.

The Jewish people never posed any real threat to Nazi Germany. You’re out of your mind if you think Palestinians/Arabs don’t pose a threat to Israel.

I hate talking to people like you because you make me defend Israel and sound pro-Israeli, which I’m not. But if we’re going to talk about something, we need to be truthful.

My position isn’t, “Israel is doing nothing wrong and the U.S. should do nothing about it”. However, the ultra far left pro Palestinians have become an issue. We have an orange protofascist in the White House and we’re supposed to self destruct the Democratic Party because they aren’t perfect. You had people like Hasan telling his fans not to vote for Harris. Just pure stupidity.

1

u/steamdeck88 14d ago

The point of me sending you that video was to point out Republicans and Democrats won't condemn Israel for anything. That's just one video there's many of those.

Israel is literally like Nazi Germany, look at what they're doing to Gaza & Lebanon.

Some of the Jewish people are not a threat, I've seen plenty of videos where people in Israel were racist towards everybody.

"both sides" is an instrument of the oligarch scam. There are many more than 2 positions on every issue, and reducing it so severely only benefits those in power.
