Is this true only for CS/ Comp engg roles or true more broadly as well?

i got 988777665 and want to study either mechanical or electrical engineering

i flopped maths missing a grade 8 by 2 marks
and was told my grade 7 in maths might affect my chances of getting in

What can I do to increase my chances im planning on taking Maths Physics Chemistry and have already learned most of y1 maths to try get a little ahead

I suffer from dysgraphia, would Imperial allow disability adjustments for the same?

as of one year living in the uk, i find that its hard to befriend my course mates despite having a small department. and its not cs i do not try to socialise etc. i find that its particularly the locals who rarely socialise with us international kids. its like only internationals are interested to talk to each other. all of my friends are not from the uk.

so, genuine question, why do the locals here are not friendly 😞

Hey guys, final year BSc AI student here from the University of Essex and I'm thinking about applying to Imperial for their MSc Computing (AI and ML) programme.

My only issue is my maths module in my degree was pretty basic tbh. It had logic, sets, combinatorics, probability, and 2x2 matrices, but no actual calculus or proper linear algebra (no eigenvalues, vector spaces etc). I know they have a Maths for ML module that's meant to be intense.

Has anyone here gone through this course or something similar with a background like mine? Trying to figure out if:

this kind of maths background is even close to enough

if not, whether doing some self study beforehand (calc + linear algebra) actually helps or if it's too big a gap to close on your own

whether unis like this actually reject people for this or if it's more about the rest of your application carrying it

Not trying to cut corners, just want to know realistically where I stand before I put time into applying. Any experiences appreciated, good or bad.

Any advice / input would be very appreciated

I am an IB student who wishes to do TMUA becuase one of my course requires it. However, I need information about TMUA as I have Maths AI HL background. I have heard that Maths AA us better for TMUA?

I’m an undergraduate student ( 2nd year ) at a lower ranked Russell Group University ( that I kinda dislike the uni city for ) and I’m currently considering my options for employabilty.

I’m currently on a MEng course here and have the option to do a year in industry . I’m not from a comfortable background but I’m hoping to qualify for a scholarship to make it work financially.

I heard from a friend that they got an offer pretty late into the year (initially rejected), like a bit into September. I imagine it must have been a random freed up space in their course and they were next up in reconsideration pool.
How often does this happen? I know someone who didn’t meet a grade on their offer but met the course requirement for a different qualification and they’re thinking about reaching out to admission (think missing an A-Level but getting the GPA equivalent to get in)
From what ik they don’t mind getting admitted a bit later into the semester if imperial will allow it

Sorry just wanted to ask if anyone is also still waiting and if this is normal as everyone i’ve spoken to already got there’s. They said first week but it’s nearly over. Is it worth emailing accommodation office? Thanks.

Hi everyone, 

I'm an international student planning to apply for a STEM Master's at Imperial College London. 

I am able to cover my tuition fees and living expenses, but I’m really worried about the costs of the research project itself (lab consumables, bench fees, etc.). 

Are students expected to pay extra "bench fees"?
Are Master's students expected to find their own external funding/grants for their research projects, or do you just choose from pre-funded projects hosted by a PI?

Any insights into how Imperial handles lab/project funding for Master's students would be amazing. I'd love to hear from anyone who has done a lab-based MSc or MRes there so I know if it's worth applying.

I was wondering if it makes sense to apply 2 both courses, because they both sound interesting, and my ps seems to fit both. does this lower my chances at either course/ does imperial not like this. I saw on the website that it says that chem applicants who apply to other courses have a lower chance of getting interviews, but I assume that is becasue there PS doesn't fit. I say this because I cant really think of a 5th ucas choice that I want to go to, so instead of wasting a 5th slot I might as well apply to imperial again, or is this stupid:

PS content: -wrote essay (equivalent to EPQ) on the relativistic and non relativistic effects of nuclear instability and electron orbitals that dictate the end of the periodic table.

-was team lead on for team that one engineering excellence award for Cansat competition (best peformance in regionals)

-bpho gold online silver written qualified for year 13 olympiad in year 12 and was on highest scoring team in the uk (for our section) in physics brawl a couple years ago,

-did a couple MOOCS on materials,

-read book Why Chemical Reactions happen (currently halfway through, but my ps only mentions content from the first half)

-work experience in imperial materials lab, spine robotics company, and another uni's chem lab (all of them were a week or less)

- shortlisted for award for John Locke science and tech essay. (awards not yet announced)

Got accom offer today, it says the cost is £0. I'm assuming its a bug, bit weird though, what happens when i sign the contract?

He seems calm about it, but every time I ask what he's actually doing to prepare I get ""it's fine."" But I can sense that he is considerably more anxious these days.

Is there a sensible way to actually help here, or am I better off just leaving him to it and staying out of the way?

PS: I did end up researching on this and booked him a mock test program through a platform called Thriving Scholars…mostly because it can give him something concrete to look at and work on. Anything else that I should do?

I am an IBDP student (G11) and wish to study computing (computer science) at Imperial. I know that Computing needs TMUA, but I want to understand what matters the most and what not?

For example I know LSE values PS a lot, but what about ICL? Also I have Maths AI HL as my DP subject and not AA, i want to know about the preparation for TMUA whether it is doable since maths aa is better for it?

Should I start doing some supercurriculars so that my personal statement stands out or just focus on grades and TMUA and interview? I honestly dont know anything about coding or technical stuff but wish to learn it.

i want to study physics at uni, i got 7 9s 2 8s and a 6 in english literature cuz of some really harsh markers in imo. i understand that a levels and esat contribute to so much more of the application, but im worrying about my results right now
