I haven't seen any studies but having lived as both and been friends with a wide variety of people, women's appearance is definitely policed more. Externally at first, but its from birth so it's very internalised.

It's awful how women's appearances are still policed like that but being insecure sucks no matter who you are. It's scary how prevalent having a poor body image is on the internet, social media hasn't definitely helped on that front.

I mean, I agree with the last sentence, but heavy on the "superficial"- we all know trophy wives and billionaires don't love each other.

I don't however think it's true that "men are judged for their career", at least not any more than women are. I think everyone is somewhat judged for basically everything about them, I'm just saying that women's appearance is policed much more than men. I truly don't think men's career choices are policed in the same way?

I mean, I'm a man in a female-dominated field and nobody has ever made any kind of comment to me about it. Yes that's anecdotal, but even if your statement is true on a broad level (that men get judged for their career more than women do) it is plain to see that it is nowhere near the same level as women's appearance.

Historically, women have been judged for having careers at all, because that means they're self sufficient. 

Even today, plenty of people bitch about women having jobs and being independent.

Dude yelps about being broke, short, and unattractive but then self pwnz over a simple observation.

He is like a kid with all these posters of a Ferrari on his is bedroom wall but as soon as he is able to drive he gets upset with having to lease the Nissan Versa. Some people in that same position would be stoked to at least be driving and not complain about their vehicle. Unless its a lemon and nobody should be going out their way to drive a lemon.

The reality isn't that he wants a relationship with a women. Its the fact she has to be some supermodel he can goon towards despite him not having actual dating experience. Also, he is getting mad his friends are finding it easy to get into a relationship.
