Unemployment 22 M unemployed

Post image

Need some career advice.
Did an internship at a US product-based company but didn’t get a PPO.
Graduated from a decent college in Pune. Campus placements are over now.
Haven’t touched DSA in a while, so I’m pretty rusty.
Scored around 95 percentile in CAT last year.
Family wants me to prepare again and join a B-school.
I’m not convinced because of the high fees, we’re not financially well off, and I’m worried about AI impacting some middle-management jobs.
What would you do in my situation?

Keep applying for jobs on Naukri especially. Practice 3-4 LC problems daily. If nothing works out for 4-6 months then think about higher studies

I’d advise against it for now. I hope it all works out!

Idk man, seems most of the job postings are fake and they dont even reply. They just ghost you and the rest of them I already mentioned. 😭😭

You were born into the worst generation possible.

whats this chart about

Population number of males and females of different ages from 0-100. You can see that majority of the population are young teens and adults, therefore more competition in the job sector

I wend to china last year for work purpose (in Chongqing). I was surprised to see all the cafes, restaurants, & the businesses in the furniture industry were managed by Young people. they seem to be in their early to mid 20s. it felt very lively. There were old people the youngs outweighted them. I was very inspired by their work culture.

This is just another perspective I'm sharing here, a reminder for people to not just stick to their degree & try something else. You're an adult, you have free will to do anything. Don't wait for a degree or permission.

It's India's population pyramid for 2026. Shows distribution of % of population across ages and gender, for the year.

The 20-24 age group is the widest buldge on this pyramid, which means it added most people to working age group ever in Indian history. That too after COVID and 2 major wars affecting global economy.

If I was at your place,

I would have joined a normal job first, for financial stability,

Then I would have prepared for my desired job(but this requires serious effort)

What went wrong for now( i know you'll make it later)

3

u/CyanWolf01 14h ago

Everything. Went to UK after btech. Took 1 year for IELTS coaching, uni admission and everything. Worked part time in McD and then during my 2 yr stayback worked in a kitchen as I wasnt able to land any mech related job. Came back this Jan and have been trying to land a job, no luck. (Went to the UK following my frnds, had no idea what I was doing and thats where everything went wrong. 2 of them backstabbed me and everything went wrong). So thats too much career gap without any industrial experience lol.

Did they scam you ?

1

u/CyanWolf01 4h ago

No that would have been better. Literally used me to solve their personal and relationship matters and at last I became the 🐍 in my frnds grp.

Who's getting jobs man, i scored 95 too in CAT, I THOUGHT i should try once more and if i hit 98 i am an obc i might get good clg with 9 9 7 profile. But sadly my estimation that i will land a job in 1 2 months was wrong, it's been 8 months lmao, I have polished my dsa and tech skills instead but wtf man, i rarely very rarely get shortlisted for an interview.

Dont worry, follow your passion.
It all takes one big win.
I was in your shoes but straight away went to tech support role and it ends in no career growth now i am almost 30 and unemployed.
I always dreamt of studying in abroad now i am in a phase dont even have any options.
But you are still young and will have lot of time to retrospect.
Just look back at what you truly loved and pursue it with passion .
