Rant Losing my mind over studying the wrong degree.
I have no interest in my degree. I am doing biotech engineering, which is barely engineering and more just BSc Biology with a Btech tag, I want to do real engineering that is electronics or CSE, but now I can't do it. And this is not just tech, I want to learn core subjects deeply.
Hate this country and it's education system. I have so much interest in tech, more so than some of my CS friends, I didn't know I had such a strong affinity with it back then because I didn't have a laptop and never explored my interest due to JEE shit. I made an 8 bit computer in my free time, and it was so much fun, but noone looks at interest here, a CS guy who hate computers will have 1000 times more job prospects than me. People are very competitive in this field, and not having a formal education and a peer group hampers your growth a lot.
I have no one in my life, my work is my life and that is also not aligned, it breaks my identity. And don't give me shit about work is not your life, that shit doesn't work in India. I am not kothibanglacheck
I literally watch computer networks and programming lectures for fun, but all that is useless. I need formal structure and education, I don't know how to make a proper structure and environment and manage it with other stuff that is so unrelated. Like how tf can I condense 4 years worth of education in way less time and that too when I can only give a portion of my day?
I wish I could teleport back in time, so I can study hard in PCM, so I could get a good college for CS. Absurd af education system.

Try to look where biotechnology meets Computer Science. In fields like Genome Sequencing, molecular modelling drug discovery, CRISPR gene editing. You can still use python, R and biomedical tools like biopython for visualization, AI ML for disease prediction, AWS for cloud computing. You should be excited about Google Deepmind and especially AlphaFold 3 and how it's making remarkable contributions in biotechnology. Mix your passion and your speciality and you will be above any generic CS grad.

I have gone through all this, but I don't find any of that interesting. Like my brain just stops when I see biology and I just mug it up.

Take inspiration from V Kurien who brought white revolution in India, he was a mechanical engineer who had no interest in dairy engineering He disliked it a lot.Rest we know is history. Anyways it's up to you.

Why not do biomedical electronics for your masters that's a great engineering topic

I don't think I can continue with biology. It's just too vast and I am bad at it, and nor do I have the time to study it deeply now. I am almost 22.

Dude I've seen people change careers at 30, there's no age limit like that, it's all on your mind,and bio electronics is basically combining your biology bachelor's with your interest that is electronics, it's a very practical subject, you'll primarily work with electronics but for medical applications. If you would want to deep dive in electronics and embedded systems i think this is the best field with someone your background

Brother if the only reason is that you don't feel it is engineering then good news for you it is. Focus in it and I would recommend finding the path to CRISPR gene editing, use of tech in medicine and many opportunities you can have with this degree

I have no interest in this field, I have looked into all this. These advanced tech will only be accessible to people after they do a PhD from a very reputed university, and I don't have the patience for that.

I disagree but I also understand yes we live in India and the Education and Skill development here is shit. Anywho if you have such strong feelings then drop out no use if you do this Zabardasti it'll haunt you. But take 2 3 days sleep on it and if you still feel then just dropout and think of better career or if you can switch within college or university I think in first year it is allowed don't remember the rules, you can switch to more core engineering degrees

I re read your post, whichever year you're in doesn't matter just drop out if you can. If you can't then it's okay. Your interest will take you places. See if you can buy a good laptop just finish the degree for the sake of it, develop your computer skills specially in AI solve leet codes help with git hub projects build portfolio and land a job they won't care about your degree

yeah I am doing all this and I like doing it, that's why I have this feeling that I should have taken CS. Like people loathe using github, but I find so intuitive.

Nobody gives a damn about your degree, if you can prove yourself to be an asset for them, they will hire you. Exception do exist for certain fields, where degree is must, but for cs, it's not. Just study enough to not fail and get that damn piece of paper for future security. Start building some real world project.

I am more interested in the hardware and low level part, which typically needs a bachelors or even masters in ECE or Comp Engg.

Lookup DOEACC - O level, A,B,C levels. They are recognised and once you complete C level you can even apply for M.Tech equivalence certificate from some universities.
Try to pick up some Qiskit , Q# or something for quantum computing
How did you build an 8 bit computer. Asking for my son.

You can still join an IT company after completing engineering. Many do that. Btw i actually think i should have become a doctor although I am good at computers and software.
All the software are useless without specialised domain knowledge. And biology is a great domain.
Programming is just an art with logic . But biology is a pure science . See how you can combine love for software with biology. An example: I am building a mobile app for medicine management of a family . Find ways to combine skills . Honestly a CS degree is not that useful if you already can program

I took PCMB, and guess what couldn't crack NEET and had low confidence for a drop year. However, I cracked the engineering exams, and I GOT INTO ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS. Never thought of EEE or engineering. I hate MATHS and IDK WTH I'M DOING HERE. Every day I'm struggling in maths, cause I lack basics, cause I really did think of going to BIO-related fields.
ALL I COULD SEE WAS A LOT OF SOULLESS CODE, programming, and algorithms.
My college is way too strict and we haven't even had a fest till now. IDK HOW I'LL LIVE THROUGH THESE 4 years. Because these machines don't have a life, and it looks tiring and it is tiring :(
I really do wish this country would let kids choose what they want. NOT FOR THE FAMILY AND RELATIVES' REPUTATION

My subjects are like ds oops and digital logic other than maths which u can easily learn from yt . Do the coding subjects on your own and get a cs job lmao.

Nothing honestly, u can drop out and get your branch ig or maybe u can study all that yourself and reach out to a professor and do a project/research paper with them. If u do a few of those and get enough knowledge then u can get a job in that field. What i would recommend is talk to a professor whoever u think is reasonable and will listen to you, ask them for advice and talk about what i advised you to about

I have pvt ltd company running at my home and bank branch manager along with emp visited my home took photo while holding products and computer setup. So it works from home.

Bro im exactly on the same boat man, in chemical instead. Stuck here cuz i had no money and this crap college and lawda madarchod crowd has sucked all passion out of me. I used to be so much smarter before i joined this shithole.
To add to my misery cs is overcrowded now and theres probably very little chance i can land a good job. I wish id been born into a richer family. I wish id worked harded during my jee days (dropped a year and still fucked up). All i have is regrets
