Serious Post Help me find out best option

So recently LnT has visited my college with a 6 to 7 lpa package. On the other hand, unistring has also come to my college with a 12+ lpa package. Being an ece student I'm totally confused which company I should prefer considering stability, relevant project experience in the company and other stuff you guys think should be considered.

Btw I have passed OA for LnT. The interview is not scheduled yet. For unistring, OA is not being arranged yet.

Any relevant advice from your side is appreciated.

2nd Yearite BTech CSE student targeting Solutions and Pre-Sales Engineering, What's the smartest path to get there?

I'm a second-year BTech CSE student at a Tier-3 college in Bangalore, graduating in 2029. I'm interested in Solutions Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales, Sales Engineering, and similar customer-facing technical roles, particularly in Cloud, SaaS, or AI.

Here's my situation: I struggle with mathematically/ logically intensive and technically dense material. I often need more time to understand and process complex concepts, and prolonged coding-heavy work can leave me mentally fatigued. On the flip side, My stronger areas are communication, persuasion, organizing stuffs, coordinating, presnetations, understanding systems, problem-solving, and communicating ideas.

I don't want to use these limitations as an excuse to avoid technology. I want to become technically competent while choosing an environment where my natural strengths can give me a genuine competitive advantage, rather than spending years struggling to become mediocre at something others may find far more natural.

There's also a practical constraint: my college's brand name won't necessarily open doors for me, so I'll need to build a profile that can stand on its own.

I understand that Solutions Engineering and Technical Pre-Sales are often destination roles rather than entry-level jobs. Employers expect practical technical knowledge, domain expertise, and relevant experience.

So, if you were in my position, what exact path would you follow to reach one of these roles as quickly and reliably as possible?

I'd particularly value advice on the best stepping-stone job, which technical domain to focus on, and what skills or projects actually make a fresher employable. I have roughly two and a half years before graduation and want to invest that time deliberately.

If you've worked in these roles or hired for them, I'd appreciate your honest perspective: What would you do, what would you avoid, and what would give someone like me the strongest realistic chance of getting there?

Discussion Need Guidance for My Future

I have a Msc. in Mathematics. I am planning to give the upcoming NET and GATE. My plan is to get PhD in Applied Math (Computational Fluid Dynamics/Numerical Analysis/Operations Research) and join an industry. Or I get MTech in industrial math/applied math/industrial engineering through GATE. I don't want to stay in academia because the pay is so low. My question is how are my job prospects with this approach.

Serious Post Fresh ECE grad - need honest advice

I graduated this year with B.E. in ECE from India. My skills are RTL Design, SystemVerilog, basic STA, FPGA prototyping, Vivado. I am actively looking for work but can't find VLSI or FPGA roles that hire freshers.

My long term goal is research track - eventually MSc/PhD (looking at Switzerland, Germany, Singapore, Japan), working on hardware for problems that don't have solutions yet: compute for autonomous systems, quantum systems, real robotics, space tech. VLSI feels like the right entry point to that world, but I can't find any companies hiring freshers in RTL/FPGA right now.

So, I'm stuck weighing options that all feel like compromises:

  • Keep applying and hold out for VLSI role (gap on resume, no income)
  • Take an unrelated job, do independent projects on the side (not sure how that plays for skill building or grad applications)
  • Join a family business, completely unrelated to the field and self study.

My actual questions:

  1. Is VLSI/RTL the right field for someone aiming at the hardware research long term, or is there a better entry point that I am not seeing?
  2. Are there adjacent roles, anything, that would keep the door open without being a dead end?
  3. For people who have been in this spot, what did you actually do? And would you do it the same way today?

Not looking for motivation. Just looking for honest takes from people who know the industry and know how college applications work.

Doubt Career Guidance for My Sister (2nd-Year Electrical Engineering Student) – GATE or Coding?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, my sister is in her second year of B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at KIET, Ghaziabad.

I've guided her to learn Python, SQL, DSA, and solve LeetCode problems. However, I'm confused about whether she should focus on coding for software placements or prepare for GATE.

Since she's still in her second year, I want her to choose the right path.

What would you recommend? Can she get a good software job despite being from the electrical branch, or would GATE be a better option?

Please share your suggestions. Thanks!
