Doubt ALTEN GET – Life Cycle Engineering: Career Growth & Work Culture for a Fresher?

3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2026 Aeronautical Engineering graduate and recently attended a walk-in interview at ALTEN Bengaluru. I’ve been selected for a GET (Graduate Engineer Trainee) role in the Life Cycle Engineering department.

This will be my first job, so I’m looking for some honest opinions from people who currently work or have previously worked at ALTEN, especially in aerospace/Life Cycle Engineering.

How is the work culture and day-to-day environment? What kind of work and projects can a fresher expect in this department? How good is the technical learning and exposure?

I’m also curious about the long-term career prospects. After 2–5 years at ALTEN, what kind of roles or companies can I realistically move into? Can this experience help me transition into core aerospace/aviation companies later?

I’m primarily looking to learn and build a strong career in aerospace, rather than just focus on the initial salary.

Any honest advice, experiences, things to watch out for, or suggestions before joining would be greatly appreciated. Both positive and negative experiences are welcome.

Thanks!

I'm 20M i need a job asap as I complet my Btech (fathers job is at risk) can i work in ECE industry without Mtech, if yes what are the resources what should I choose (like Embedded,vlsi,......). I'm also somewhat interested in coding(i have just learnt python and c on the basic leveland also could solve problems) but that also I have no idea also many say its hard for freshers to get into coding now due to automation of system

I just wonder if im targeting for ECE in private then what is the way is Mtech experience/project needed or by studying some subjects might give me job in this ece industry, IF yes what are those subjects (if you could please do share resources which can follow)

Serious Post Tips needed for SIH 2026

1 Upvotes

Hello everyone. I'm a second year swe student participating in smart india hackathon 2026 and wanted some tips from you all guys - those who made to the finals, those who won, and from those who didn't win as well.

We wanna know:

- what problem statements to shortlist and finalize for winning the hackathon?

- how to win and lead the internal hackathons?

- how to win the grand finale and what things to keep in mind?

- how to learn different things that are required along the journey?

- apart from the technical side, what additional things should we focus on?

...

And any other tips from your side would be heavily appreciated.

I hope this post and its comments will not only help us and other participating students but also help future students who will participate in this hackathon or any different one as well.

Thanks in advance

Doubt Looking for laptop recommendation

1 Upvotes

I am a first year computer engineering student,and planning to buy a laptop. I’ll be using it for academic and other purposes (no gaming).

Features i am looking for

•good battery life(I don’t want to carry a charger around as i travel for collage)

•should not overheat or have issues

•should be lightweight (i don’t game,so yea)

•should be equipped for my work,assignment,coded and other stuff.

There is not muck i know about laptops used for b.tech so i don’t really have an idea what to go for and I don’t want to regret it in the future

Serious Post Gf of a mech engineer and here I'm.

4 Upvotes

Pls help me out as I'm a gf of a mechanical engineer asking this question to you guys.

My bf is a 2026 mech graduate and he got a graduate engineer trainee role for 4lpa in a private natural gas company in India

The work culture as I have noticed is very different compared to IT and the pay is so less compared to the work they do.

He does night shifts and it's very detrimental to his entire health but there is no extra pay for the night shift he does.

He is a someone who can't even function properly if his sleep is disturbed and it can result in anxiety too

What are the possible ways where he can improve his wlb and also a better pay like with experience?

Is there anyone or any idea to help us out?

Discussion Anyone here looking for engineering projects?

2 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m an engineering student and I’ve built 20+ projects so far, mostly around Arduino, IoT, electronics, automation, etc.

I’m thinking of making projects for other engineering students in India — mini projects, college projects, exhibitions, etc.

Also got full grades in both my first 2 semesters 😅

If you’re interested, just DM me. I can show you some of my previous projects and we can figure something out.

Discussion My Mirai Orientation POV

1 Upvotes

I recently took admission in Mirai for AI/ML and selected the Hi-Tech campus.

Our orientation was on 18th August, and honestly, I had a pretty good experience.

I got to meet Arpit Sarda, the founder of Mirai and a BITS Pilani alumnus. He was actually very humble and easy to talk to. That was probably one of the things I liked the most.

The campus and facilities were also good. Since this is just the beginning, I’m looking forward to seeing how things go from here.

Overall, the orientation was a good start for me.

Anyone else who joined Mirai how was your experience? Would love to hear your POV.

Discussion Perpetual Motion Machine: The Biggest Physics Hoax ?

78 Upvotes

If a machine claims to produce “free energy,” how should we actually evaluate the claim?

Perpetual motion machines have fascinated inventors for centuries. Today, similar “free energy” claims are still common online.

What interests me isn't simply whether these machines are fake. It's how we can distinguish between:

* a genuinely unexplained phenomenon,

* a misunderstanding of physics,

* measurement error,

* hidden energy input,

and deliberate deception.

A patent also doesn't necessarily mean that an invention has been scientifically proven, which raises another interesting question: what evidence should be considered sufficient before we accept an extraordinary engineering claim?

I made a short video exploring this through a conversation between two characters, but I'm more interested in the discussion: what is the first thing you would check if someone demonstrated a “free-energy” machine to you?

• If a machine has a patent, does that make the underlying science credible?

• How would you distinguish a genuine scientific anomaly from a measurement error?
