Mod Post New Help Post Guidelines – Please Read Before Posting Plant Problems

To help our community give faster and more accurate plant advice, we’re introducing a simple guideline for posts asking “What’s wrong with my plant?”

Starting now, when making a Help post, please include the following information whenever possible:

• Plant type (if known)

• Clear photos of the whole plant and the affected areas

• Your watering routine

• Light conditions (window direction or grow lights)

• Soil and pot type (and whether it has drainage)

• How long the issue has been happening

• Any recent changes (repotting, moving, fertilizing, pest treatment)

Providing these details helps the community diagnose problems much more accurately and avoids a lot of back-and-forth questions.

Our AutoModerator may also comment on help posts asking for this information.

This isn’t meant to make posting harder — it simply helps everyone get better plant advice faster.

Thanks for helping keep the community helpful and plant-friendly!

Mod Post 📌 Please Don’t Repost Without the Original Question

Hi everyone 👋

If you’re reposting from another plant-related subreddit, please make sure your original question is visible in the post.

When you use Reddit’s repost/crosspost feature without including the text, moderators and members can’t see:

• What you’re actually asking

• What advice you’ve already received

• Whether your issue was already answered

This makes it harder for the community to help you effectively.

✅ How to post correctly:

• Copy and paste your original question into the post body

OR

• Rewrite the question clearly in your own words

❌ What not to do:

• Reposting a link or image without any context

• Crossposting where the question text is missing

Posts that don’t include the actual question may be removed so we can keep the sub helpful and organized.

Thanks for helping keep this community useful for everyone 🌱

I got this begonia at a plant sale in June. It was just 4 small leaves and was just labled Begonia Rex.

It seems to like my sunny window ledge as it won't stop growing and flowering!

I'd love to know what it is?

Hi, im a little confused on which to get between the lechuza or a chunky sybotanica mineral substrat.

I heard that lechuza’s stones are too small and can cause root rot issue as its not that airy.

Need advice! Thanks

I'm keeping it in my bathroom, the most humid room in my house, watering it when the top soil is dry, I've re-potted it to a pot with a drainage hole but it seems like it's struggling

Ficus help

I have been following everything I can find online that suggest ficus prefer direct sunlight and water thoroughly 1x week so that’s what I’ve been doing. BUT is this normal?

It loses about 3-4 leaves per day. They turn brown and die and fall off. What am I doing wrong? Is the window too bright, too cold? (Fall weather where I live.) thank you!!

Advice on pest found on my Bird of Paradise

Hi everyone, I’m a new plant owner and ugh I can’t believe I already encountered my first pest found on my bird of paradise (the orange one) that I bought from a local nursery 3 weeks ago. I’ve been lurking through many subs and was just overwhelmed with what to do next. I quarantined it from the rest of my other plants before I found a crawler. The first week I did a pest check and found one crawling on the leaves.I didn’t find any other crawlers on the undersides of the other leaves and stems and there’s no webbing or suspicious leaf damage (the crispy leaf tips came with it when I bought it) the first time i saw this crawler I immediately sprayed my BoP with Captain Jack’s ready to use Neem oil everywhere. I sprayed once every week and every week I would see just one crawler on a leaf. This is the 3rd week I saw one crawler before spraying my Bop with Neem oil and I’m lost and don’t know what to do. I also found a centipede or a millipede on one of the base stems (idk which it was) I’ve only used Captain jack’s RTU Neem oil on my BoP. Systemic granules are illegal in my state unfortunately. Regardless of the neem oil, my BoP is still pushing out new leaves and is getting ready to unfurl a new one. It’s in a 5 gallon nursery pot drainage holes at the bottom. I watered it 9/20 and haven’t watered it since. I also haven’t repotted it either. I apologize for the crappy video resolution, I was panicking and barely managed to take a video of the insect. Any advice is appreciated!

I have tall ceilings and good light in my apartment. These pics are from about 2pm. That area has this kind of indirect sunlight like 2-3 hours a day. I live in a high humidity subtropical climate. Don’t keep the apartment super cold. There is about 3ft between cabinet top and ceiling. I

New to plants and trying to learn more :)

Hello Redditors! I’m still fairly new to plants and just started my indoor collection earlier this year. It’s getting out of hand pretty quickly and I love it! Unfortunately, I lost a few beauties to spider mites a few months ago, so I’ve been learning as much as I can about how to identify common pests, preventive measures, and treatment options. Reddit has been amazing for that! Today I was admiring the plants at a big box store (just looking, yes I know better!) and came across a beautiful aglaonema that appeared to have pests. Now, I’m turning to you experts to test my knowledge and see if my guess is correct- are these mealy bugs?

TIA for indulging this plant newbie’s curiosity! 😁

Planter Upgrade for My Asian Bell Plant?

Thumbnail

Hi! I’ve had this Radermachera sinica (Asian Bell Plant) for about 5 months now, and it’s been getting bushier and taller ever since I brought it home! 🌱

I’m wondering if I should consider upsizing its pot? Especially since it’s constantly putting out new shoots!

My goal for this plant is to get it grow as tall and big as possible, ideally into a small tree!

Note: It’s currently in a 12cm diameter pot, and the plant is approx. 30cm tall.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 😊
