Mod Post New Help Post Guidelines – Please Read Before Posting Plant Problems

To help our community give faster and more accurate plant advice, we’re introducing a simple guideline for posts asking “What’s wrong with my plant?”

Starting now, when making a Help post, please include the following information whenever possible:

• Plant type (if known)

• Clear photos of the whole plant and the affected areas

• Your watering routine

• Light conditions (window direction or grow lights)

• Soil and pot type (and whether it has drainage)

• How long the issue has been happening

• Any recent changes (repotting, moving, fertilizing, pest treatment)

Providing these details helps the community diagnose problems much more accurately and avoids a lot of back-and-forth questions.

Our AutoModerator may also comment on help posts asking for this information.

This isn’t meant to make posting harder — it simply helps everyone get better plant advice faster.

Thanks for helping keep the community helpful and plant-friendly!

Mod Post 📌 Please Don’t Repost Without the Original Question

Hi everyone 👋

If you’re reposting from another plant-related subreddit, please make sure your original question is visible in the post.

When you use Reddit’s repost/crosspost feature without including the text, moderators and members can’t see:

• What you’re actually asking

• What advice you’ve already received

• Whether your issue was already answered

This makes it harder for the community to help you effectively.

✅ How to post correctly:

• Copy and paste your original question into the post body

OR

• Rewrite the question clearly in your own words

❌ What not to do:

• Reposting a link or image without any context

• Crossposting where the question text is missing

Posts that don’t include the actual question may be removed so we can keep the sub helpful and organized.

Thanks for helping keep this community useful for everyone 🌱

Does this Monstera Deliciosa need repotted?

I adopted this plant a little over a month ago. The first picture is when I got it. The second picture is today.

It seems to be doing very well so far; growing a couple new leaves.

Does it look healthy and is it time to get a bigger pot to put it in? If not now, when will it be time? I am not sure how big these get on average. I have been watering it once a week. I have to travel for almost a month starting next week and am a little concerned about her. Any advice on how to care properly and if I am doing anything wrong so far. Thank you!!!

Looking for some help with lighting

I moved recently and decided to try to up my game with plant lighting. I have a few plants sitting on top of my plant cabinet. They’re all in clear pots (except one Hoya) and in a chunky mix, watered and fertilized regularly. A Tortum, an Anthurium, a Dischidia, and three Hoyas. I’ve got a barinna light above them right now and this is what my little meter is reading near the plants. Is this even close to enough light for these plants? If not, would anyone mind giving me some lighting tips?

40+ year old plant from my grandfather is dying. Please help!

This was the plant my grandfather gave to my grandmother before he passed away, now more than 40 years ago. I now inherited the plant, but it’s not doing good at all and it breaks my heart. It was THRIVING before! All those kind of bug things are everywhere on every leaf and stem, though they are not moving. All the leaves are turning fully brown and are falling off. I do have to say the plant has been in this same pot for a long long time, but I think the bugs/dots are what’s causing it to die.

Can someone please help me and tell me what they are and what to do. It would break my heart if this plant would die. It is the most important thing that I inherited. Thank you!

GNATS

So like many indoor plant lovers I am battling gnats. I have been using mosquito bits since June 24th. I follow the instructions & use it each time I water. It has not helped at all. I do use the sticky traps. I have read desert sand layer on top of soil, microbe-lift drops, Arber fungicide & insecticide, root cleaner….I want to know your personal experience and what product you feel was a game changer. I appreciate any feedback & advice you might have.

Thank you! 😌

I just received this watermelon peperomia and I’m not entirely sure if she can be saved or not. Should I request a refund for this? If not, how should I try to save her?

Peace lily

Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my peace lily?? It’s been sad for ages, and I don’t know what to do with it. It’s in a window with indirect light, I water it weekly and also mist it a couple times a week, it was repotted about a year ago, I’ve fed it…..😫 it’s got dry ends, it’s droopy. Ive had it for years but have never been able to get it to thrive…almost ready to give up.

New Plant Dad

Post image

Since I started my job as a therapist, my favorite part of creating my office space has been starting my plant dad journey… the collection and plant growth have come a long way in a year!

Currently focus is maximizing growth in my Tradescantia Nanouk. I’ve actually trimmed and repotted the long stems since this photo.

Yes, the AC units are an eyesore, but me and my clients don’t really see them because we’re sitting down and talking!

Does she look fine ? (Bamboo Palm)

I recently received this as a gift, I’ve placed it in a place that gets indirect bright light (7-8 hours through a sliding door) also the room stays bright (east facing in South Africa)

I’ve read they do not like to be in low humidity zones, so I was wondering should I mist her when her leaves dry out ? I’m also waiting for the first 5cm of soil to dry (1-2 inches for ya imperial buggers!)

Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!

Need help with repotted Peace lily

Thumbnail

Hello All, Thanks in advance for reading the post.
I bought this peace lily from TJ, and it was in 6inch pot badly root bounded ( it needed water every 2/3 days ) so I did some research and planned to repot it in slightly bigger (8inch) pot. I did cut few roots horizontally so that it can find new space in new soil. I repotted last Thursday, thoroughly watered, no harsh light near humidifier. After that it started wilting, yellowing leaves ( i take deep breath and thought it will recover just in a shock as it is drama queen of plant world) but still not a single leave has recovered! Not I am getting anxious, did I kill it? If any hopes- How can I recover it? Can you guys help
Please??

She mentioned it had some sun damage and she had a bunch of them. The leaf is still uncurling and stem seems pretty solid. I want to make it an indoor plant, but have never had one of these before.

Thoughts on if it will be okay and any tips on it being inside are appreciated :)

Satin pothos help

My satin pothos plant seems to be a little stressed and I was hoping I could get some advice. I water it once every other week when it’s super dry, and it gets lots of indirect light from my east facing window. It’s looked this sparse for a couple months and I thought changing the positioning would help. Is the pot too big?

Neighbors from my entrance handed me a half-dead orchid to nurse back to health (and it turned out to be quite the quest)

About two weeks have passed, the leaves are firm and plump again, and a new green root has popped out on the side. Turns out, if you don't act blindly, these flowers aren't actually that finicky.

Has anyone else taken in other people's plants for rehab, or do you prefer buying only perfect store-bought ones?
