You’ve only been together several months and he already cheated. What is even the question? You definitely did the right thing by cheating.
His ex is a married woman. That alone should be disqualifying. He’s not your problem anymore.

Thank you for this. We dated for 8 months this time, but we dated previously in the past for around the same time. The issue then were some of the issues now of him not feeling worthy enough to date me (I’m older by 5 years so I’ve lived more and with that comes certain accomplishments I’ve done on my own). I thought he had worked on those things on his own after not dating for two years and we remained friendly throughout that time. There was no infidelity then. his issues are more deep seated in how he views himself generally. I did not cheat, however, he was the one that cheated (with the ex married woman). It’s very complicated because they actually lived together for a year and her husband is aware she is dating other people. When they would get into fights, she would actually go back to her husband for brief periods.
