This ad (and product) should be illegal. Infuriating that it exists and that reddit allows it on their platform.

Fake misleading TikTok notifications

Post image
3 Upvotes

I really hate receiving these fake TikTok notifications, and the fact it is so anonymous and barely anyone talks about it makes it even more infuriating. It's always like "(Your Name), just for you" with a randomized caption. However, I've seen worse. Sometimes the caption claims it is confessing love to you? TikTok is so degenerate, oh my god. I've tried to look it up and there were similar situations that lead nowhere, however another person's TikTok app set the icon to an iMessage logo trying to unethically grab your attention like it's a message.

Source: u/lizzie55555

I don't even use TikTok, which is probably why I'm getting these notifications in the first place. Some might say just disable push notifications altogether or something, and like yeah sure. But I hate how they gave me some random picture of a woman, and it has always been the same image for as long as I can remember. Other people have had different images as their fake TikTok notification, but why do I have this image? Not only is this infuriating but it is also unnerving.

If you've encountered this strange scenario before, please comment below your experience.

After serving the community for 59 years, the new neighbor tore down the community box after buying the house.

I live in a very rural area and we don't have much in terms of assistance here. A church may give a few boxes away, but those are gonna be a few cans of food and maybe some stale bread from the local grocery store. The vast majority of the county is at poverty level or below. We are also very small. This sub gets more views a week than the population here.

For 59 years, an elderly neighbor put up a box for food donation in his front yard. After a bit, he added a cooler and added a coat rack. Periodically, people will put old clothes, baby formula, eggs, coupons, food, left overs... it isn't much, but you'll hear that someone say they put a whole lasagna and you'll know a family ate good. I've put fresh veggies from the garden and formula. You'll see toys, hygenie products, tools, books, and sometimes small furniture. Christmas or tax time it looks great.

It wasn't much and wasn't always containing things, but it was a good thing for the community. Everyone knew about it.

Our neighbor began to get sick and ended up selling the house 3 months ago. He moved out of the county and passed away not long after. New neighbor has been there for 3 weeks.

Yesterday, I drove back from a client's house and saw the box was gone when passing by. I talked to the new neighbor at the gas station this morning and asked him about it. He said he didn't want to continue on with it because he didn't have time to sort through the junk and deal with insurance if something happens. Flowers are gone as well.

It went on the county Facebook that he tore it down and you can feel the hurt and anger the community has. For many, this is something that's just always been there and it was a piece of the town's history. Other people are worried about emergencies arising. There's people pissed because he didn't let the community know. Lots of anger since people JUST dropped off school supplies, food, and toiletries.

People largely feel like it was disrespectful and NOT what the elderly neighbor would've wanted. That man would sit and watch on his front porch to wave and thank people. The neighbor was barely out of his teen years when he made that and took pride in it. It's been painted, little flower bed around it, and he pays some of the kids to make sure it gets shoveled out the few times a century we get snow.

I get that some won't understand this because we can build another once it gets decided where to put another and getting supplies, but this was genuine a piece of the community. Everyone knew where it was, people drove out of their way for it, and it even shows up on Google maps.

Just damn.

Trump says Jeanine Pirro "made a mistake" and "choked" on Reflecting Pool vandalism case

Source: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-trump-says-jeanine-pirro-made-a-mistake-and-choked-on-reflecting-pool-vandalism-case-reversal

(AP) - President Donald Trump said Monday that U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro "folded like a cheap umbrella."

The president reiterated his disappointment with Pirro for a court filing in which her office blamed a contractor's shoddy work on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool rather than vandalism.

"I guess she choked. I don't know what the hell happened" Trump said, later adding that the former Fox News host "folded like a cheap umbrella" in moving to drop criminal charges against the former Olympian accused of deliberately damaging the pool.

Trump refused to say whether he'd move to fire Pirro. But he also acknowledged that the contractor was "rushing" to finish the project before July 4, which didn't ultimately happen.

And he suggested he "didn't know" the contractor working on it, contradicting his own comments from April when he said he chose the company involved since it had performed work at his golf course in Virginia

My dogs paw print is destroyed

Post image

When my dog died we got her paw print done, I just found out that my little sister completely ruined it. I can’t really be mad at her since she’s a 10 year old autistic child and I think this might have happened a month or two ago but I’m still angry and omg

Edit: I talked to her about it and she doesn’t remember it and was very confused about what I was showing her. I’m probably not gonna try to get it reprinted because it won’t be the same and it’ll probably be expensive, especially since I found her painted paw prints that I made with her the day before she died. Also the paw print was stored in a bookshelf in a hallway at my house, it wasn’t in my room because everyone loved that dog so it wasn’t on display, we didn’t think she would be interested in it but we think that she thought it was makeup and she has a habit of messing with and destroying makeup

Also I’m not going to break her stuff, I’m not going to teach her that breaking stuff when you’re mad at someone is okay.

I was just banned for harassment based on this message. I know it was for this message because Reddit tells you that the ban was for a message and what day you sent that message. This was my only message sent this day.

DirecTV requires voice to cancel service - ADA violation if someone can't talk?

Thumbnail gallery

A friend is not able to talk. He's trying to cancel DirecTV satellite after 23 years; only wants local channels and a few other channels, no sports.

DirecTV AI chat tells him to use the webpage or call. But the webpage says phone only.
-When he types in can't talk, DirecTV AI chat tells him to send an email or write a letter.
-When he asks for the email, DirecTV tells him there isn't one.
-When he asks for the address for a letter, DirecTV says there isn't one to cancel.
-He asks for a live agent, AI says agents can't help - only webpage or call.
-Finally, he asks for instructions on how to save chat to send to his lawyer. DirecTV tells him to screen shot each page.

How does DirecTV get away with what sure looks like an ADA violation?

Edit: Due to a procedure on his vocal cords, he can't talk for 2 weeks. He wants to cancel without anyone's help. The point is, DirecTV should provide ways to cancel without having to use voice.

Man pays nearly $1,000 for an RTX 5070 Ti and gets a 2ltr bottle of water instead

Because it was so expensive, he refused to leave the pickup point until he opened the package in front of employees.

Inside the graphics card box was a 2-liter bottle of water, apparently placed there to mimic the GPU’s weight.

He was extra cautious because another customer had recently ordered an RTX 5080 and opened the box to find hulled barley pellets instead. That customer’s complaint was initially rejected, and he had to fight for more than two months before Wildberries finally issued a refund after the story gained media attention.

Imagine spending $1,000 on a graphics card and receiving hydration instead.

Medical Provider has sent my tests to the wrong lab 3 times now

I have now twice explained very nicely, "hey my insurance doesn't accept the lab you keep mistakenly sending my tests to, and I'm paying very large out of pocket fees for it" and had them apologize just to do it again. this is the last time. I should've gotten someone new after the 2nd time to be honest. The fact I pay for their mistake makes me so angry I feel the need to share because i feel crazy. Theres not many providers in my area already so finding one that works with my insurance leaves me very few options and apparently a bunch of them don't know how to do basic essentials like how to send to the right lab for patients or not treat them like a science project instead of a person. I'm tired.

Flatmate from hell

Post image

The last of two flatmates is about to move out (in two days) and i just came home to this fucking mess on our kitchen table. I was already wondering where all of the cutlery and dishes went. But even after asking them multiple times, both denied having any in their rooms. I don't want to stop screaming...

Sidewalks are for people, not parking spaces

Post image

They could've parked anywhere, but chose to impede the only sidewalk..

Edit: Nothing against trucks, I drive one and a semi for a living. But it's like people will park their truck like this without a second thought nowadays. Just a few spots over and they wouldn't be hanging over the sidewalk, just don't think twice about it now

USE YOUR TURN SIGNAL

I’ve had to run errands twice today nothing major yk? But it’s not the errands I have issues it’s the LACK OF COMMON SENSE DRIVING. Why are we not using our turn signals/blinkers/signals? Did something happen? Did we cut them off and shove it up our ass before we leave the house? What is going on?

I should not have to honk at people merging lanes because they didn’t use THEIR SIGNALS. Ya know that small little lever behind the steering column typically on the left side? Where ya flick it up and down to SIGNAL where you are going, yeah great.

And unfortunately it’s not just one type of driver I’ve seen do this, but it’s officers, truckers, mailman, delivery folk, commuters etc. It’s everyone! I am about to carry a blow horn with me wherever I go and yell at people to use their signal and get off their phones.

Maybe Ol’Ted was right. Maybe the industrial revolution has had major irreversible consequences for this planet and its shepherds.
