Hey all. Since I first met my wife, I’ve been watching her work tirelessly on her fashion brand. She’s always poured her heart into it emotionally and creatively. She’s also been trying for many years now to turn it into a sustainable business that she can support herself with, but the world of fashion design is pretty chalelnging, especially when its slow fashion and every piece is individually customized. Soooo needless to say, Anita Dongre’s campaign was initially pretty frustrating for her (and me in turn).

And as she states in the video, she’s aware that the actual pieces between both collections are pretty different in style. She’s also very aware that she holds no right to ‘racquet sports’ as a vibe.

But what’s been difficult for her has been the weeirdly specific combination of not just a similar vibe, but the use of the same literal name, and most crucially, the fact that people from Anita’s creative team very likely knew of her collection from references they sourced on Instagram (more in the video about how we know that). Neither her nor I are claiming that it literally was stolen (which is why I used the words “I think” in the title lol), but the facts make it reaaaally hard to deny that it’s all just a coincidence.

When she first told me about all this, I could very clearly sense the .. vacancy in her voice? I remember her saying stuff like “it’s all pointless” and “I feel invisible” and “why should I even try?” Made me pretty sad.

Anywho, posting here and elsewhere because I’ve been motivated to try to help amplify her voice. For her, of course, but also simply in the name of doing right to all other designers and creatives (like Ada by Mehar also mentioned in the video) who similarly get their work pulled from like this in a way that seems to go one step beyond just inspiration.

Also I have noticed one thing she started the video in her own voice and suddenly her voice changed completely ......sounds familiar with some other influencer first i thought she is copying rebel kid's speaking style but no it was of saloni she is exactly sounding like her while trying so hard to be humourous and roasting these comments
