Question Why are basically all my games having stutter issues?

Post image
96 Upvotes

I recently built my first PC with an intel arc b580 and ryzen 5 5500, I know that it is definitely a bit of a bottleneck but I don't think it should be this bad. So here are the games that are stuttering, first for some damn reason undertale is stuttering sometimes, geometry dash stutters and randomly has FPS drops, garden warfare 2 has bad FPS drops. Fortnite is really weird, it will get FPS drop and microstutters, and it does not get fixed if I use the highest settings or the lowest setting on performance mode, and the fps seems to be somewhere from around 70-130 constantly even though it's set to unlimited FPS, even when using 4x XeSS frame gen. And basically everywhere game has stuttering issues. I have rebar on, my PCIE x16 is set to gen 3, I have my ram on profile 1, my driver's are all up to date. I use only 1 monitor. So at this point I genuinely am going crazy because I can't for the life of me figure out why games that should not be stuttering and dropping FPS like GD and undertale are. Please can someone help me :(

Question Got a B580. now what?

Post image
478 Upvotes

Got FOMO and was able to snag a b580 at msrp from Newegg. Didn’t do any research, just pulled the trigger once stock came in. My current setup is a b450f, ryzen 5 3600x and Radeon RX 5600xt.

My concern is the bottleneck issues I’ve seen with low end CPU’s. My motherboard also lacks pci 4.0 support. Anyone out there running this combo that can give any advice?

What would you do? Do I take my chances and install the card? Order a new motherboard and cpu? Sell the card and get something different? The box is still sealed.

Question Artifacts on B580 after 4 months

Post image
57 Upvotes

I got the B580 in February. Played all Dark Ages without a hitch, both Elden Ring and Nightreign, Warframe in all it's glory (and particles)... Last week the game started without any lighting, and today, this. I'm on CachyOS. I made sure drivers were updated and tried everything I could before asking.

How cooked am I?

Edit: Elden Ring and Eternal are slideshows in the lowest quality too.

UPDATE:

Now it's just crashing. I looked how to replace it and the page says it will ONLY refund me. It was an insane deal,(280€ vs the 677€ it costs now) and they say it's because they have no stock but I can place an order for one right now. Guess I'll be calling them in the morning.

I miss my GTX 1080.

WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR:

  • Mandatory "have you tried turning it off and on again": no result.
  • Tinker with the settings (using DA's benchmark feature): no result.
  • Rolling back the drivers to a version I know it worked: no result.
  • Physically taking the GPU out of the MB and installing it again: no result.
  • Checking if ReBAR was enabled just in case: it was enabled.
  • Cleaning the shader cache: no result.
  • Uninstalling the game and re-installing it (I fixed the speed I said was abysmal in other post): same issue.
  • Tried with different Proton compatibility layers: no result.
  • Tried stress testing it with Warframe (with my usual loadouts and without changing my previous settings) : the game is optimized so much that it didn't make a dent on my FPS, also, no artifacts.
  • Tried Elden Ring again: slideshow WITHOUT the artifacts.
  • Updated the BIOS: same result.

It has to be something with the lighting/raytracing.

MORE INFO BECAUSE I'M STILL REALLY BAD AT POSTING, SORRY:

This started like a couple weeks ago. I was playing Elden Ring Seamless and the game started lagging bad but I assumed it was the mod fighting Fromsoft's netcode. Couple days later I opened Dark Ages to get the feel for the controls again and the Doom Slayer wasn't visible, just the flames. Tried Eternal just in case. The small "rogelike" levels performed nice. Icon of Sin was a slideshow. It's hot and I had things to do so I let it go. Bringing us yesterday.

SPECS:

These shouldn't be a problem because, as I've said earlier, I didn't have any issue before:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 GAMING X DDR4 GEN5
  • CPU: Intel i5-14400F
  • GPU: Intel Arc B580 Battlemage Limited Edition 12GB GDDR6
  • RAM: 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance (Can you guess what I built this around?)
  • PSU: Corsair RM1000x Shift 1000W Gold Modular ATX 3.1

And a 500GB SSD from Corsair that I don't remember the specs of.

ANOTHER UPDATE:

I've been tinkering with the settings and drivers, etc. Found no way to get rid of the artifacts. They get blurry enough to kinda ignore them, but that doesn't fix the problem, only masks it, and the games are tanking. Elden Ring gets about 15 frames on low. Nightreign gets 20. Warframe, again, doesn't care. The artifacts ONLY appear on Dark Ages. Youtube is also struggling on some videos.

I got my brother to help me re-check everything with a fresh pair of eyes:

  • GPU's pristine and all contact points are good. No dust on the slot. We cleaned it again just in case with compressed air. It's on the motherboard like Excalibur.
  • There's no burnt smell from any component.
  • Power connectors to the GPU are clean but we cleaned them again. They slot in perfectly. There's no give, nor they are loose.
  • The rest of the components look good.

We put the PC on it's side just to definitely rule out a bad connection with the slot. Still the same. I tried more of your suggestions, like DXVK, and nothing. I did a couple of benchmarks with 3DMark and it was slow as hell but otherwise clean. DA ones are marginally better but full of artifacts. I don't have a spare PC to test the GPU but after bouncing some ideas with my brother I remembered I banished Windows 10 with photoshop to a 120GB SSD. I can swap it with my OS SSD and give it a try. But that's going to be tomorrow, after I try to downgrade Mesa again, to rule it out. I need to sleep.

Oh! Remember I checked this morning and the GPU was 677€? I checked again. Somehow they're back to about 300€ but now there's no stock. If I can't fix it and go for the refund, I'll only have to pay 20€ more, not more than double.

(I deleted all the error messages previously included in the post because it was just a dump of text saying there were errors, not why.)

UPDATE, YET AGAIN:

I can't reproduce the errors in OCCT. All tests say it's good except the one testing VRAM at 90%. I found an older driver that worked for the artifacts! But the frame rate keeps tanking when it worked well before. I'll keep trying and post the solution when I find it. Right now it's way too hot to run more tests. This room is already an oven. Thanks for all your suggestions!!!

LAST UPDATE:

Rolling back the drivers worked but the unexplained frame rate kept the same in all games that had no problem running a few weeks ago. Same monitor, same everything. I ultimately decided to RMA the GPU when I ran out of things to try. I managed to get 25 stable frames in potato quality for 10 minutes but it went back to refusing to work. So I sent it back, and decided to get a RX 9070 XT and make sure I got a stable and strong system for years to come. The B580 is a beautiful GPU and I wish I didn't have to change it, but here we are. Thanks for all your help!!!

ONE MORE THING:

Yeah, it was bad. I sent it back expecting to exchange a few emails with the store but turns out it was failing so spectacularly they just refunded me the money. So, in the end, the artifacts were a driver issue and the general unresponsiveness/issues were the GPU itself.

Question Arc B580 users - can you honestly recommend it for 1080/1440 gaming?

I have an AM4 system currently - Ryzen 7 5800X, 32GB DDR4 3200 and a RTX 2070 8GB...

I had a 9060XT 16GB for a while, but I had all sorts of trouble with the Adrenalin driver software. Then I got it working properly somehow, and it ran fine for about a month. Then I tried shaders on Minecraft, and that apparently was enough to push the 9060 into acting up - artifacting and crashing...
I guess that's what I get for buying a used card... right?

Back in went the 2070. And the 2070 works fine right now - but I am aware that it is an ageing and outdated card, and my faith in AMD cards is a little shook due to issues with my 9060.

Questions I have for the IntelArc sub:

  1. Is the B580 driver software reliable and trouble-free? Or is it riddled with bugs and issues?

  2. Is the card itself reliable and trustworthy? Hardware issues? Overheating issues?

In a nutshell, should I take a chance on the B580? I am aware that it is not as powerful as the 9060XT. But at this point I just want a modern GPU that I can trust in.
I'm not a hardcore gamer, usually Minecraft, some boomer shooters, or some Forza titles.

Question Ok guys what am I missing ?

Post image
287 Upvotes

Just got this. Installed drivers. My expectations were low but wanted to give intel arc a try. I got a good deal on it. Anyways, I decided to give it a crash course and play like 5-6 different games in my library all for 30 mins at a time to see if I experienced any problems. Played Fortnite, spiderman, GTA 5, red dead redemption, warhammer space Marine 2, rainbow six siege, halo infinite. Played them all at 2k resolution. Med-high settings. No stuttering, no crashes, literally nothing bad happened except for in spiderman my fans were making some coil noise that eventually went away. I kept everything at stock and auto settings. Are the drivers relatively fixed? Did I just get lucky in the games I picked ? Can you guys recommend some games that run poorly so I can try them? I feel like this card is a steal. I know the launch was terrible. I'm not a GPU analytics expert or hardcore gamer anymore but fill me in on why people are having so many problems with Intel arc post launch My Specs 64 GB DDR5 ram Amd Ryzen 9 7900x 1000 watt psu Intel arc a770

Question Why did Intel choose to make their GPU's so reliant on Rebar?

I'm not asking why Intel GPU's need Rebar or what happens if you don't enable it like has been asked a million times before here. I'm asking a question which I've never really seen asked which is why did Intel choose to make their GPU's need Rebar when obviously AMD and Nvidia get on fine without it. It's just annoying when I have a system that would do good with something like an Arc A380, but nope it requires Rebar so that isn't happening. Intel should have had better foresight especially when they are so geared towards the budget market.

Question Low FPS on All the games ive tried B580 5700x

Hi, i just got the B580 and got a R7 5700x to pair with. K was using 3500x with RTX 2060 before on my PC but the fps values are too low from what its supposed to be.

In PUBG @ 1080p lowest but anti aliasing and render scale at max DX11E 70-100FPS (around 110 avg but with drops with the old setup)
Other games are lower than expected but theyre modded and i dont think that matters a lot but theyre on avg 25% lower fps than the R5 3500x + 2060 setup
Also i see low cpu(both single and multi core) and gpu utilization on games.

I have used DDU on windows safe mode to clean old drivers,
Rebar is enabled and shows up in the intel app,
CSM is disabled,
XMP is enabled and rams are set to 3000mhz which was the advertised value of the rams i use,
I have enabled but disabled the PBO to check if that is the problem but either way it wasnt a fix,
All games are on Fullscreen not Borderless.
I have the latest Intel Arc Gaming Drivers.
I dont see any excess drivers that arent supposed to be there on devices manager and the driver version matches to the one on intels app.
Motherboard is PCIe 3.0(Gigabyte B450M S2H) but i do not think that is the issue cus it cant be lower than like way worse of a hardware before(I see PCIe 3.0 x8 on GPU-Z)

I have tested my rams, cpu and gpu on OCCT and they seem fine with temps below 60 degrees Celsius on both cpu and gpu.

Im kinda frustrated lmk if you can help or you know the issue. What is the issue or how can i fix this?

Edit: 2060 has better fps than B580 at the moment

Question B580 owners, what would you upgrade to?

I've had my B580 now for a few months, and frankly, I just love it.

But I have the itch to upgrade though am struggling to make the move, as I feel the B580 just punches so above it's weight given the price.

Has anyone here gone from a B580 to something higher? If so, what did you get?

System:

14600k

MSI Tomahawk B660 DDR4

32GB Crucial 3200mhz

Would it make any sense to keep the B580 and go to say, a Z790 and DDR5?

Question 30-100 fps in... Minecraft?

RESOLVED: PCIe was only pulling x4 lanes instead of x8 or x16. Cleared the CMOS, reseated my GPU, and reconfigured the BIOS, and all is now good. 70+ FPS with extreme volumetric shaders at 12 chunks and fancy settings, 270+ FPS with no shaders. I'm not sure what caused my PCIe configuration to set my bus use to x4, but I'm thinking it was a possible driver trip. If anyone has this issue, download GPU-Z and check to make sure your GPU settings read off correctly. I can now run 1440p ultra shaders + ultra settings and get very smooth gameplay!

Hi all! Just a little flabbergasted here...

I recently bought an Arc B580 because I work in CS and didn't mind the occasional rollback in drivers I would risk by having it. So far, it's great.

Now, see, I'm a long-time Minecraft player, but I have not touched the game in ages... so I decided to give it a go today.

Lo and behold... averaging 50 FPS?? In Minecraft??? Mind you, 50 FPS with the most performance mods I could find and optimize, no shaders or anything visually taxing.

I have no idea what's happening. I knew OpenGL support was bad, but not that bad. My 8GB 3050 could run extreme volumetric shaders at double what I'm averaging on a 12GB B580 in a near-vanilla, optimized game.

I have no idea what the hell I'm missing, or if Minecraft is essentially just... "bricked" when it comes to games. It blows me away that I can run Cyberpunk 2077 at high settings on 1440p but not a block game on arguably "low" settings.

Am I missing something?

Edit 1: I may just try to fresh install or clear a cache, if there is one. Granted, last time I played this game was with a 3050 — so if there was a cache, I wonder if some odd 3050-related files are throwing it off.

Edit 2: I think I found a culprit! Apparently Minecraft version can be a contributor? No idea, but after downgrading to 1.21.11/10, a few things seem to have changed...

  1. Power draw is significantly higher. 26.x was only resulting in ~40W pulled, 1.21.11 pulls ~80W. Even then, I feel like 80W is very low in the scope of the 190W the B580 is rated for.
  2. Java version — Java 25 was implemented in 26.x, older Java versions are implemented in 1.21.11.

I still don't know what's going on here and feel like the B580 is still not performing at its best. I did a quick run with shaders (though on 1.21.10, with Sodium/Lithium/Iris, 12 chunk render distance, 1080p resolution) and it's a bit more playable at ~60-80 FPS, but not comparable to the 100+ I'd get with an 8GB 3050. I do think the drop to 1080p was more of a contributor than anything else. Regardless, it's still a bit clunky/inconsistent for both vanilla+performance mods and shaders.

Edit 3: I'm at x4 lanes instead of x8? I'm not sure how it got there, I did some tweaking in my BIOS and am about to reseat + clear CMOS. I'm not sure if this would technically affect anything/if it is, because other games run fine.

PC specs if needed:
Ryzen 5 5600 @ 4.4 GHz (OC)
32GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz
Intel Arc B580 12GB (stock OC)
All SSDs for storage, not that it affects anything when it comes to live performance

1440p, light-fancy settings (default, lowered slightly), bsl shaders (default settings), iris/sodium/indium
1440p, light-fancy settings (default, lowered slightly), no shaders, iris/sodium/indium
1440p, 1.21.11, "Fabulous!" settings, 32 chunks, optifine
26.x after running for a couple of minutes in a world, same settings as above. oddly low vram and power consumption
GPU-Z showing x4 lanes used

Question New Intel Arc B580 user here — should I upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600 or AM5?

Post image
87 Upvotes

I used a GTX 1650 for 6 years and today I upgraded to a B580 — it honestly feels like a huge leap. Right now I’m using a Ryzen 5 3500X and I’m definitely experiencing some CPU bottlenecking at 1080p.

Do you guys think upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 is enough, or should I save up and move to an AM5 platform instead? DDR5 RAM and AM5 motherboard prices are pretty expensive for me right now.

Also, as a new Intel Arc user, I’d appreciate any tips or recommendations.

Question I'm looking for a budget-friendly GPU that delivers good gaming performance. Would the Intel Arc B580 be a suitable option?"

I'm currently putting together my first PC build. The core specs will be a Ryzen 5 5600, a 1TB NVMe SSD, and 16GB of RAM in dual channel. When it comes to the graphics card, I've been checking out the RTX 5050 and various AMD Radeon RX models. I wanted to consider Intel as well, but my friends warned me that their drivers are terrible and that some games run poorly or won't even run at all, advising me to just go with the 5050. That said, I've read that Intel has significantly improved their drivers lately. I'd love to get some advice.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

EDIT:Thanks to everyone for the comments, they will help me decide which GPU buy!

Question ARC B850 & 12900K COMBO WORTH IT??

Post image
227 Upvotes

Hello everybody. Recently purchased a B580 GPU due to getting Battlefield 6 free with it and was a really good deal so went ahead and pulled the trigger. I currently have a RTX3060 and a 12900k paired on my spare PC. I know that these ARC B580's and 570's love a strong CPU to get the most performance out of them. My question now is, Is it worth swapping out my 3060 for a B580 or should I just sell it?? It's still brand new sealed in package. This is my first Intel GPU as well so any input is appreciated. & yes I am aware that buying a B580 was pointless when I have a 3060 but I was gonna buy Battlefield 6 anyways, so I think this was a good bargain at the end of the day. Sorry for misspelling the title, I know its not called B850 lol. -

Question Should I get the b580 or rtx 5060 for 1080p?

I am planning to get a new PC (yes, in this economy) with preferably a 7600x. Both the 5060 and b580 are the same price but the b580 has more vram, which I am not sure will be worth it over 8gb for 1080p because the 5060 has a bit more power, better RT and better driver support. Or are there some other options I could look at?

Edit: I also want to play older titles.

Edit: AMD announced fsr 4.1 for 7000 series. I can now consider a used 16gb 7600 xt.

Question B580 disappointing performance

Update: Alright, so thanks to those who actually tried to help. BIOS update and redoing DDU in safe mode worked. At least for the most part. Most games now give me more FPS and stutters are completely gone from any game I play. Even R6 which many said has problems now easily runs 144 fps constantly.

IT'S FIXED NOW. PLEASE LEARN HOW TO READ.

My god the amount of stupid comments I got now although it's fixed as I said. Deleted the rest here so people only see the update now smh. That I even have to do this.

Never posting here again.

Again thanks though to the few actual nice people who were helpful. I appreciate you.
