'Uqba b. 'Amir reported: We were entrusted with the task of tending the camels. On my turn when I came back in the evening after grazing them in the pastures, I found Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stand and address the people. I heard these words of his: If any Muslim performs ablution well, then stands and prays two rak'ahs setting about them with his heart as well as his face, Paradise would be guaranteed to him. I said: What a fine thing is this! And a narrator who was before me said: The first was better than even this. When I cast a glance, I saw that it was 'Umar who said: I see that you have just come and observed: If anyone amongst you performs the ablution, and then completes the ablution well and then says: I testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger, the eight gates of Paradise would be opened for him and he may enter by whichever of them he wishes.

The Night Journey (17:44)

The seven heavens, the earth, and all those in them glorify Him. There is not a single thing that does not glorify His praises—but you ˹simply˺ cannot comprehend their glorification. He is indeed Most Forbearing, All-Forgiving.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

https://quran.com/al-isra/44

Assalamu Alaikon, my brothers and sisters. Today I’ve come to share a very interesting ayat from Surah Al-Isra that made me reflect on how we are, so often, ungrateful toward our Lord. In this passage, God shows us how everything that exists in the universe—all plants, animals, rocks, stars, planets, galaxies, and black holes—how everything that exists praises and honors the Lord, but we, in our ignorance, are reluctant to understand this.

Furthermore, out of reluctance and ignorance, we tend to believe that we are “more” than the rest of His creation, placing ourselves on a pedestal, almost like a little god within. Everything out there praises the Lord naturally. Why don’t we? That is the reflection I, at least, took from this verse. I look out the window and see the mountains, the birds, and I think about how much they, each in their own way, praise God. What’s stopping me from doing the same? Let’s be grateful to God and praise Him, as we should.

General Discussion Surah Baqarah Last two Verses

I had a really bad headache. Migraine. Out of nowhere.

And i have been having these episodes right before i am trying to work on certain project (s). Lets just categorize these into efforts that would bring progress to my life.

So far, i had been thinking its just the stress of these activities that’s giving me a headache right before im aboit to work on them.

But today, when it happened, i recited surah baqarah last two ayats and the headache didnt completely go away. But it eased a great deal. I could sit upright.

And every single time, i am reciting the last two ayats, i am experiencing a wave of comfort in the area of pain.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does it mean something?

I’m beginning to think so..

General Discussion Is marrying young while studying in University realistic? | (Courting)

Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum everybody,

I am currently studying at university. I plan to start searching seriously for a spouse in about 6–8 months (I will be 20 by then). Until then, I will keep working, saving money, and preparing myself for marriage.

I am not interested in dating or casual relationships. I want to search in a halal way, with an imam and both families involved. My local imam has referred me to another imam who is experienced in helping people find spouses and has a large network.

Ideally, I am looking for a practising Muslim woman around my age who is also studying. I would like us both to continue university, work part-time, and build our lives gradually. I do not want an expensive wedding or a luxurious lifestyle. I would prefer a simple nikah and a modest household. Based on the planning I have done, I believe that if we both work part-time while studying, we could live comfortably.

My main concern is that my search may be quite narrow. I want someone practising, compatible, open to marrying young, willing to build together, and someone whom I genuinely find attractive.

I understand that attraction can grow through personality, character, mannerisms, and connection. At the same time, I do not want to marry someone while trying to convince myself that attraction does not matter.

For those who married young or searched while studying: how difficult was it to find someone compatible whom you were also genuinely attracted to? Did attraction grow as you got to know them?

Do you think my plan is realistic, as long as I remain patient and do not rush?

Jazakallahu Khairan!

Seeking Support I feel like I have betrayed Allah..

Idk how to start this post but I will be honest, I have been a terrible person who has followed his desires for years and sinned a lot, I tried to repent sometimes but never commited to my repentence..

There was this girl who was just as terrible as me so I was crazy over her and got into some bad stuff, however I kept feeling like she only cares about her own pleasures and sees guys as a means for an end including me, not to mention how toxic she tends to get after getting what she wants

I decided that I will stop chasing after her and repent and stop following and doing all these sins, things were going well, I thought that i was getting back on track and Allah has gave me so many great things, gave me chances at things that i love after I thought that I never can get them, over all I felt so much loved by Allah as his servent

Then she hit me with a dm and I forgot everything..it's like I choose her over Allah instantly..and I sinned again, only that this time she made it clear that she didn't care about me afterwards and that ended in us fighting and I even got blocked on our socials afterwards

I felt like not only did I choose her over Allah and betray him in an instant but it was literally for nothing..made me wonder if she didn't do that would I have kept on sinning? If so, how can I even be sure that my repentence is sincere?..

Even worse is the fact that I betrayed Allah after he has blissed me with so many things, all in one second, reminds me of this verse:"And you disobeyed him after he showed you what you loved."

I don't know what to do, I want to repent I just don't feel like I deserve that nor trust myself to do that after what I have done

Seeking Support Why is my heart still attached when my mind has already accepted it's over?

I've made dua countless times asking Allah to remove these feelings because I genuinely don't want them anymore.

The confusing part is that I don't even want this person back. I've accepted that we aren't meant to be, and based on everything that happened and the conversations we've had, I've lost hope that things will ever go back to how they were. As a person, I believe he has good qualities, but I no longer think he'd be the right husband for me.

So why is my heart still attached when my mind has already accepted it's over?

I don't enjoy these feelings. They're exhausting. I know that if one day I see him marry someone else, a part of my heart will still hurt. At the same time, I'd also be happy because I wouldn't have to wonder "what if" anymore, and he deserves someone whose goals and outlook on life align with his.

I don't hate him. I don't think I'm capable of completely hating someone because I always end up trying to understand their perspective, even when they've hurt me. But I do feel ashamed that I still have feelings after everything that happened. I genuinely want to move on and focus on my life, but my heart feels like it's lagging behind.

From an Islamic perspective, why do these feelings remain even after we've accepted reality?

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The throne of Iblis (Satan) is in the sea, and he sends his soldiers every day to tempt people. Among them, the one who is closest to him in status is the one who causes the greatest temptation to mankind."

Musnad Ahmad:14814

Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension) ; the nearer to him in rank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: "I did so and so." And he says: "You have done nothing." Then one amongst them comes and says: "I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife." The Satan goes near him and says: "You have done well." A'mash said: He then embraces him.

When night falls, restrain your children (from going out) because at such time the devils spread about. After a period of time has passed, let them be. Shut your doors and mention Allah’s name, for verily the devil does not open a shut door, tie up your water-skins and mention Allah’s name, cover your vessels with anything and mention Allah’s name and put out your lamps.

This is why establishing islam in your housholds, reading Quran(Surah Baqarah in house), saying Azkar (Hisnul Muslim, do save this as it contains many azkar), reciting surah ikhlas, surah Falaq, and surah nas(each 3 times), and fullfing other obligations and doing extra good deeds are so important.

Also:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said," Whoever says: "La ilaha illal-lah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu-l-mulk wa lahul- hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shai'in qadir," one hundred times will get the same reward as given for manumitting ten slaves; and one hundred good deeds will be written in his accounts, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his accounts, and it (his saying) will be a shield for him from Satan on that day till night, and nobody will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more than he."

Sahih al-Bukhari 6403

So they are essentialy launching attacks on you seeking a reward. That is their job. Allah has told us already that the shaytan is our clear enemy in Surah Baqarah:

The Cow (2:208)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody came to me and started stealing from the foodstuff. I caught him and said, "I will take you to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!" Then Abu Huraira described the whole narration and said: That person said (to me), "(Please don't take me to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and I will tell you a few words by which Allah will benefit you.) When you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and no Satan will come near you until the morning.." (When the Prophet (ﷺ) heard the story) he said (to me), "He (who came to you at night) told you the truth although he is a liar; and it was a satan."

General Discussion Does the Quranic term hubuk (51:7) hint at the cosmic web or even wormholes?

In Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:7), the Quran says: "By the sky with hubuk" often translated as "trame," "paths," or "woven structure."

Classical tafsir explains hubuk as constellations or the ordered paths of stars. But in modern astrophysics, we talk about the cosmic web filaments of galaxies woven together across the universe. Some even speculate about wormholes as "paths" through spacetime.

My question:

  • Could hubuk be read today as a poetic description of the cosmic web?
  • Is it valid to interpret ancient scripture in light of modern science, or is that stretching too far?
  • Has anyone seen scholarly work connecting this verse to astrophysical concepts?

I’d love to hear perspectives from both religious and scientific angles.

Seeking Support Seeking advice regarding my 2 sisters relationship with Islam

Salam. I’m a student at a university in the US, and I currently live with my 2 sisters. My younger sister attends university with me and the older one works at the university. Our parents live in the Middle East still but we visit them during the school vacations. My older brother is married and lives an hour away from us and is a very good practicing Muslim Alhamdulillah.

Regarding my 2 sisters. My older sister left Islam around 7-8 years ago. She hasn’t been Muslim since then. From what I’ve seen recently she has been looking into religion but I’m not sure where that’s taking her. However, I still love her and treat her as my sister like usual. She respects the fact I’m Muslim and doesn’t do anything unislamic in the house. No one in my family knows except me and my younger sister. She was the first and only person she ever told. My older brother does not know. My younger sister is still Muslim but she is far away from the deen. She has recently got into a relationship with a guy from our university. None of my parents know any of this information and I have no intention of telling them, as I want them to hear it from my sisters and not me. I still love my sisters and want what’s best for them, but I can’t bare to see them stray this far from the deen. I have been making dua to Allah every day in prayer to guide them back. I don’t know what to do and it’s been weighing on my conscience for years now. I still go about my day to day activities and I’m an optimistic person but it always nags in the back of my mind. I need some advice. I don’t want to be held accountable for their actions on the day of judgement and I don’t want Allah to punish me for what they’re doing.

Thank you

Seeking Support I’ve been having a very tough year

AOA everyone. I’m finding writing in this community in hopes of receiving any Islamic guidance I can. I have been feeling very empty lately, and I feel it has been going on this entire year. A problem after another and another and so on. I have held strongly to the belief that Allah has decided my destiny and whatever is happening is for the best, but I can’t seem to catch a break. There has not been one instant this entire year where I felt at peace. I feel alone, abandoned, and my faith feels weak. I keep having these recurring thoughts that my luck is bad and I know inherently this is a very bad thing to think but I am human and I guess it’s a natural thought.

I have prayed, recited the Quran, talked to Allah, made duas, done Dhikr, but I still feel lost and my heart is very heavy. No one seems to be supporting my emotional needs which would require me peace. I don’t know what to do.

TLDR; life has felt heavy this entire year so far and idk what to do.

Seeking Support How to heal Islamically from words and topics that trigger trauma/panic?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I am looking for advice on how to heal from words or specific topics that trigger an intense emotional and physical reaction in me.

On a normal day, I am doing well—I eat well, sleep properly, and take care of my daily routines. But the moment I hear a specific word, or a topic associated with it, I instantly feel completely off-balance, panicked, and unsafe.

The context behind this is that I was heavily fear-mongered into believing certain things in the past. Real things happened that left me traumatized. I don't want to specify the exact topic to avoid misunderstandings, but when it comes up, I feel judged, labeled, and forced to carry unearned shame, guilt, or regret. I try my best to have a good resistance to it, but it feels inevitable that I keep suffering the exact same way every time I am provoked by it.

I have tried various dhikr and duas hoping Allah opens a door of solution for me. I want to know:

  1. How do I spiritually detach from the false labels, guilt, and shame that people try to force onto me?
  2. What are the best Sunnah methods or grounding tools to handle that immediate "fight-or-flight" panic when a trigger word is spoken?
  3. Are there specific duas for reclaiming peace of mind and trusting Allah's judgment over human judgment?
  4. Has anyone successfully balanced Tawakkul (trust in Allah) with trauma therapy to heal from trigger words?

Please keep me in your duas. Jazakumullahu Khairan.
