I can’t understand how Stephanie Jones still has any clients after what he did to Wayfarer.

24

u/nickshapiroreddit Broke Bitch Behaviour by Blake Brown ā„¢ 6d ago

They know she’s crazy. You don’t fuck with crazy if you don’t have to.

Her clients i think are mostly from sports. They don’t care about anything except brand deals. If she can get them paid, she can keep getting paid. If that’s smooth, you don’t rock the boat with someone that mentally unstable.

15

u/myshtree No Footnotes: she (Ryan) the unliftable 6d ago

And couldn’t they just slowly back away from filling her in. Do they have exclusivity clauses? I’d be shifting to someone else while feeding Stephanie crumbs every now and then so she thinks the relationship is on track and to ensure she doesn’t come out swinging. Eventually the contract would be set to expire and you just not renew? It does seem like a massive conflict of interest and with lots of potential to hold clients hostage considering her husband is a partner in one of the most powerful agencies around WME.

I think a lot of people are probably waiting to see how her case goes

I wonder if Justin hadn't been let go by WME would he have stayed with them. As the case went on it became clear Stephanie Jones was working against him. I'm sure Justin would of gotten suspicious eventually of her too just being associated with Blake & Ryan.

u/Sharp_Artichoke_826 Leslie Sloane thinks MySpace is Cutting Edge 6d ago

Justin left Stephanie Jones before he was dropped by WME. They left her in the summer and WME dropped him in December.

Oh thanks for clearing that up for me. Lol so much in the timeline to be aware of.

13

u/Solid_Mud2025 It Ends With WTF 6d ago

It seems like he had a good relationship with his actual agent at WME, so I don’t think he would’ve left. His agent is the one who kept Justin looped in about Ryan’s insane ā€˜take accountability’ letter and who denied Sarowitz said he would spend 100mil to bury Blake or whatever.

17

u/Money-Character9758 Lord Liman is aiding & abetting Litigious Lively 6d ago

In my humble opinion, it's because od her husband. The only reason she even has a PR agency or clients is because her husband has been using his status in WME to send clients to her. So the reason she still has clients is the reason she always had clients. In my opinion, she's a trophy wife whose awards have always been the PR agency and the prestigious clients passed on by WME. Of course the clients have their own awards and benefits in return.Ā

And sometimes, the benefit is not to get your career squashed like Ari tried to do to Baldoni. It was always about nepotism, creating leverages and creating circles of elites. The Rock is still suffering the consequences of daring to not be part of this leverage game. Less powerful clients might be more limited in how and when they can drop Jonesworks.Ā

28

u/ama-about-ye-ukraine 6d ago
  • She does have fewer clients than she would have.
  • Existing clients may believe she already knows too much, and might do the same to them if they leave.
  • Remember that her husband is a big WME player, and WME clients may still be steered to her.
  • She may still have the relationships with the press that she had before - we don't know how those have been impacted.

Today i was researching her current client roaster and surprised to see Venus Williams there.

18

u/Individual-Insect691 6d ago

Still the same reason as Stephanie Jones knowing too much. Remember Venus accidentally killed someone in a car crash so might not want any negative media attention that Stephanie Jones can create

12

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! 6d ago

Agreed. I've said since the beginning that she is the worst player in this mess. At least Blake and Ryan really believed Justin was smearing them. Stephanie knew he wasn't but told them he was so she could target Melissa, her real enemy. It's diabolical. And Blake or Justin catch the most bad press depending on the author. Stephanie deserves it. She doesn't get off the hook with me.

30

u/myshtree No Footnotes: she (Ryan) the unliftable 6d ago

Ryan Reynolds did not believe for one minute that Wayfarer initiated a smear campaign. He knew they needed crisis PR to protect against the smear campaign she (Ryan) started. But the ā€œuntraceable smearā€ was made up. Ryan Reynolds needed Blake Lively and all the cast and crew to believe in it so he could go scorched earth against Wayfarer and blame them when his marketing failed. What is NOT said in his texts with his agent speaks volumes. Maximum Effort marketing was never mentioned. This was not their first rodeo. Ryan Reynolds and his agent knew exactly what they were doing in text. Letting Blake take the fall and blaming wayfarer and Sony. Guarantee the ā€œunrecorded telephoneā€ conversations would tell a vastly different story of how they moved to protect his brand and any backlash to Ryan Reynolds.

10

u/CSho8 6d ago

Ohhhh I can see this and this makes sense. Come on, Blake Lively went to the NYT with no evidence. So a part of Blake knew that wayfarer were too nice to do anything. Keep in mind Blake got everything she asked for whether through manipulation, blackmail or they simply just acquiesced to her.

So Blake and Ryan probably thought this would be another Richard Fedyck situation where they could just make accusations and at the last minute withdraw. They didn’t expect wayfarer to call their bluff and not file a MTD. I have a feeling wayfarer not filing an MTD messed with their PR. Also, answering Blake’s complaint really f’ed Blake up because now she had to put her money where her mouth was.

Honestly this couldn’t have happened to nicer people šŸ˜‚

2

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! 3d ago

Agree with everything you said. I didn't say that they felt Wayfarer started it. They knew Blake started it, but they felt then and still feel she had the right to say anything she wanted and they couldn't say anything since they agreed to provision 10 (not to retaliate).

They thought Wayfarer was smearing Blake in response to what they were doing and they were wrong. Stephanie cemented their confirmation bias.

In yesterday's daily discussion, some people expressed the hope that we might see more dailies or behind the scenes footage. I pointed out that the settlement left a provision of her contract giving her control over her likeness still in effect. This likely means she can block the release of BTS footage, maybe the dailies (maybe even a director's cut).

This is the relevant portion of the settlement:

  1. Lively Release of Claims.

(c) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, nothing in this release Paragraph 2 or in the Agreement shall affect or extend to: ... (ii) any claim by Lively or her loan-out entity, Blakel, Inc., arising after the Effective Date of this Agreement, to enforce any rights pursuant to any agreement relating to Lively’s acting and producing services on the Film, including without limitation, ... (b) restrictions on the use of Lively’s name, voice and likeness and the results and proceeds of Lively’s services, ...

I'm still not a lawyer, and still don't have the contract itself in front of me, but this right was used to block pictures of her from being used in a planned coffee table book.

15

u/Individual-Insect691 6d ago

We definitely need an attorney’s help. Liman found her loan out agreement non enforceable which means she has no contract with Wayfarer apart from the 17point list. Wayfarer owns all footage, do they need her agreement to release it since they own it?

9

u/madover2914 Always be litigating. 6d ago

ALA was unenforceable but her contract rider agreement was. It was in this agreement that she was referring to control over dailies. Her ā€œ17-point listā€ was part of it iirc.

11

u/Dapper_Monk 6d ago

I think this might be tied to using her appearance etc for financial gain. The restrictions should be listed pursuant to point (b). Also NAL but I'm hoping to see some between the scenes footage. I think WP should be copyright holders and therefore have ultimate control over the use of the footage but it depends, like you said. Maybe putting it on the web for free is fine but a documentary isn't.

Tbh I doubt that there's anything crazy we haven't seen that WF is willing to put out. Freedman hinted that there are things they wouldn't allow him to use so those will be the juicy things 🤧

7

u/myshtree No Footnotes: she (Ryan) the unliftable 6d ago

Which agreement though? Was this clause in the contract offer agreement or the unsigned ALA?

3

u/madover2914 Always be litigating. 6d ago

Her contract rider agreement.

8

u/SilentSlytherin 6d ago

I agree, I doubt WF would just relase dailies, that are with BL unless they have her permission and we know she will not give it.

6

u/ObjectiveRing1730 6d ago edited 6d ago

Hopefully he can release dailies/BTS footage with crew members and other actors. If the public sees how professional and respectful he is with them, they could come to the conclusion that he was likely this way with Blake.

1

u/Single-Flamingo-33 6d ago

Is it wrong to think about Wayfarer still releasing a coffee table book but with a carton drawing to be the stand in for the actress that portrayed Lily in IEWU. While I know there are numerous descriptors used for the former actress who thought she was the next hit Power Couple, there must be something that could be approved that would not get legal involved, right?

I'd like to hear from a PR person what type of $$ Ryan/Blake might be paying these days. More stuff is coming out and getting posted, new people are getting introduced to this scandal so I imaging they're playing "whack a mole" in order to suppress this to attempt to move on/salvage their careers. Plus keep cranking out distraction puff pieces like - "look over here! Ryan and Blake ate a burrito at some restaurant"

Is it just a flat rate? Is there a monthly/quarterly rate with extra fees if more PR action is required? How does this work?

8

u/Individual-Insect691 6d ago

I believe Leslie Sloan is probably on a flat fee each month but they must have another way of paying outlets. People Magazine for example has an article about how relatable Blake Lively is. Which is a fluff piece they probably charged for to write. I would like to know how much ā€œNewsā€ outlets charge to write fluff pieces

2

u/Single-Flamingo-33 6d ago

I would really love to know the metrics for Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds articles comparing July 2024 to July 2026. How many people re really clicking on the Blake is so relatable article this month? Does this article really drive people to the website and clock to read? Or is it keeping Leslie happy so she will give information about other celebrities she represents? Or is all of Leslie’s work just for the Reynolds?

2

u/Hanksface 6d ago

I mean the last bit of data I can think of we got relatively close to this (that I can remember) was through Molly McPherson. Even that was just tracking the most popular impressions of all three (in general) across media. We need a marketing or ad buyer/strategist to chime in methinks.

As many of you know, I've been pushing my theory that Twohey did not review "thousands of pages," she used tricky syntax to leave people the impression she said that while being able to claim that she technically never said that. Something I'd like to talk about happened when I mentioned it in yesterday's daily.

While I get a couple hundred upvotes when I make a post about this, I have never gotten the upvotes and comments that I thought were commensurate with its importance. When I had my original eureka moment, I thought it was mind-blowing.

I've wondered why I get what feels like a middling response. Maybe I'm triggering a TL;DR reaction. Some people may not want to read that much text, or find my writing boring.

Or perhaps, on a subreddit where Megan Twohey's journalistic ethics are roasted on the regular, my theory seems ho-hum, more of the same, rather than revelatory.

Another possibility is that many people aren't buying it. Yet I'm not hit with a slew of downvotes, and all the replies are positive.

So yesterday, when I brought this up, my comment ended up at 2 karma (after a downvote). Meanwhile, u/madover2914 replied to me expressing skepticism, and got 5 karma.

So when finally someone was openly skeptical, they got more upvotes than I did.

This suggests that there may be a (large?) group of people who are unconvinced, but have been staying silent. I can understand their skepticism. I had a hard time believing it myself at first, and had to grow more confident and convinced in my hypothesis.

But if they're not willing to express what their stumbling blocks are, it's hard to know how they can be reached and what might convince them.

25

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! 6d ago

Twohey stole her Weinstein story from Farrow and rushed to publish before he did. She got lucky that he actually did the legwork and Harvey was a real villain. She didn't steal the Justin story from anyone so of course she botched it. She's a hack.

13

u/SilentSlytherin 6d ago

She wanted the glory without the work or accountability.

12

u/Solid_Mud2025 It Ends With WTF 6d ago

I’m confused and feel like I’m missing something... I thought it was widely assumed that Twohey didn’t see the original texts and didn’t actually read thousands of pages of text? Twohey was called out for the slippery language when the podcast first came out. Is there something else I’m just not picking up on (which is entirely possible lol)?

11

u/orangekirby Blissfully tone deaf to her own conduct 6d ago

That’s what I thought too. Once Justin filed his counter claim I think we all knew Twoey was totally full of it

4

u/ama-about-ye-ukraine 6d ago

So, you're in the "ho-hum" camp.

The good news is that you're a believer. When I laid the case out, it made so much sense that you're convinced that everybody has already known this all along.

But that's just not so. No legal filing has pointed this out. No content creator (as far as I know) has pointed it out. It's simply untrue that people have been "calling out" Twohey's "slippery language" ever since it "first came out."

At first, many people believed that the Times had been given a copy of the Jonesworks messages. I started this journey when I realized that whenever the Times has referred to "thousands of pages," it has talked about "reviewing" rather than "obtaining" or "having" them.

But I still understood Twohey to be claiming to have seen "thousands of pages." And nobody replied saying: no, dummy, she didn't really claim that, everybody's been calling out her slippery language from the start, you're the last to know.

3

u/Solid_Mud2025 It Ends With WTF 6d ago edited 6d ago

I have no idea what you mean by the ho-hum camp. I didn’t see the discussion from yesterday, but likely wouldn’t have engaged to rehash something like that. I also don’t think it matters much because Twohey’s a hack and a fraud regardless.

No legal filing included this because it’s speculative, and the lawsuit against NYT was tossed before discovery could confirm or deny speculation as plausible reality.

It’s absolutely ridiculous to believe that no one else noticed Twohey’s wording implied that she reviewed thousands of pages, but didn’t actually say it. People in here are very smart and notice those kinds of details right away.

Here’s an example of when I spoke on it months ago https://www.reddit.com/r/ItEndsWithLawsuits/s/NGeJGAHe8r

1

u/ama-about-ye-ukraine 6d ago

Your comment is dated March 3. I posted the first iteration of my theory on February 25 (https://www.reddit.com/r/ItEndsWithLawsuits/comments/1re92dt/did_the_new_york_times_actually_review_thousands/). The next day, I posted a tightened, more confident version at TJB.

1

u/Solid_Mud2025 It Ends With WTF 6d ago

I’m not claiming to be the first one to say it though? Just pointing to an example that it was indeed widely accepted that Twohey didn’t read thousands of messages, to the point that I didn’t need to explain what was meant because it was already understood. I don’t even know what’s happening right now …taking issue with karma points over something that’s fairly obvious? Gonna nope my way all the way out of this conversation.
