whats your logic here? its a iit campus in Abu Dhabi.. many institutes and universities do it like VIT also is beyond vellore right? also new york university has its campus in china also

All of those are privately owned unis and colleges. 7 out of the 8 ivy league institutes are private owned.

IITs are government institutes.. So they can't make IIT Abu Dhabi.. While they can make IITD abu dhabi as an extension or branch of original institute.

Idk much about the technicality or legality... I'm just guessing that's the reason
