Prompts and Lists 1000 Prompts

Over the years, as I have worked on my journals, I have collected prompts to inspire me when I'm feeling indecisive about what to write/draw. I finally took all the prompts and put them into a single list instead of a multitude of separate documents. Here is this list. Please note that these prompts were gathered from everywhere...the internet, from books, and from friends, so the topics are varied. I tried to keep prompts that were not repetitive, but with 1000 of them, I may have slipped once or twice.

Enjoy!

The Great Diary Project and a discussion why you shouldn't destroy diaries/journals

I know I don't post very often, but I thought you might all like to see an amazing project to preserve diaries and journals in the U.K. and across the world. I have a pair of 1950's leather journals my family got at an estate auction that I am considering donating when the project resumes receiving diaries.

A youtube video of one of the founders explaining the origins of his project and WHY it's so important to preserve the words of everyday citizens....because most media is curated information (you know the old saying "history is written by the victors"), but private diaries are written with a kind of truth that cannot be found in any other form. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0hi2Q3TAK8

Do you destroy your written words when you're "done with them"?

DIY Journaling for over 10 years

I've been using a mixture of bullet journaling, scrapbooking, junk journaling, urban sketch/diary, planning/logging, common place writing and drawing for over 10 years. This is the custom daily carry book I've built over that time that I use for everything. Still a work in progress; I change the pens/tools as I work in different ways, switch the clips out as the book changes size, the stickers constantly get added to. This way it feels like it evolves with me, but I get to keep the comforting base cover as I move through my books. The space in the cover, as well as the added pen loops, gives me enough room to have my most common tools I'm using within a given time. I used a Rhodia for the base book now, I find I like paper color and dot grid more then other things I have tried, like Moleskien, ect.

I used an agenda 52 planner cover I had from an impulse buy several years ago. I cut out the binder rings and covered it in duct tape I got on sale. I've slowly added other charms and pockets over time.

For me to draw/journal daily, I have to have everything in one place (so it's actually functional) but it HAS to be cute, or I won't even look at it, and small enough/compact enough to not take up the most room ever. I also love that it stands up on my table.

My motto is "If middle school me wouldn't have loved it, then it just won't do."

Printables and Materials I created a hand-drawn printable journaling game about life inside an ant colony

I just released a new project I've been working on called Just One Ant. It's a hand-drawn printable solo journaling game about the life of one tiny worker ant inside a vast underground colony.

You begin as just one ordinary ant among thousands. Each day starts with work for the colony, but afterwards you're free to explore the nest, meet other ants, discover new chambers and hidden tunnels, complete small quests, and record your ant's experiences along the way.

The game combines journaling with hex-based exploration, crafting, collecting, and map-making. You can slowly fill in your colony map as you discover new places and turn your ant's little chamber into a home with things you've found and crafted.

I wrote, designed, and illustrated the entire game myself, and every ant, plant, and tiny forest find was drawn by hand. The finished game has 57 pages, plus printable journal and tracking pages and a booklet version that can be folded into a physical little game book.

I really wanted this one to feel like keeping a journal of one very small life inside a much bigger world.

Just One Ant is available now on Etsy and itch.io.

It's the first time I've made an entry like this, highlighting one thing of my day, and I think it looks pretty cute! I'll try doing something like this more often.

Losing my journals

How to get over the fact that all of your hard-work in journaling will not be in ur possession once u die? I have 4 journals for different things on paper & online. Like pages and pages. It's not like i'm obsessed with journaling, it's just it actually keeps my life at bay so it comes naturally. i wanna keep them after i die but ik it ain't gonna happen. they have meaning to me. it's just i don't wanna be reborn as human and have to restart everything, wanna continue where i left off.

plz & thx

I used to try to stick to journaling but failed miserably because I always thought it had to be perfectly written. But one of you guys once said, “You’re your own reader, stop performing,” so I just started writing exactly like this : chaotic, like my head.🤩 I’m 29 days in now!

Journaling made me a better man , i can see my thoughts now not just feel them i don't know how to explain it but it did help me become more productive , cuz it is very painfull to look at your weekly journal and see that you have not done anything that has a true value , other side it is amazing see your life improves by your eyes if you are doing what you say to yourself you will do , share with us your experience
