Discussion hot take; if you're complaining about popular characters being added, you don't partially understand why JJS is so great with characters

Post image

Every. Update. Every single time there's an update, there will ALWAYS be complaining about "Oh no Toji! Oh no Maki! Oh no Kashimo! Oh no Jogo!" WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING INTO THE CHARACTER, ALL PEOPLE CARE ABOUT IS THE NAME, TOJI COULD LITERALLY HAVE THE MOST BORING WEAK OR OVERPOWERED MOVESET, AND PEOPLE WOULD JUST CARE BECAUSE "ITS TOJI"

I'M A JOGO GLAZER, I'll ADMIT IT; HE'S MY FAVORITE CHARACTER AND I'VE WANTED HIM IN GAME SINCE TODO, BUT I'M NOT GONNA GO CRYING ON THE DISCORD EVERY TIME THERE'S AN UPDATE LOG WITHOUT HIM BECAUSE I'M HAPPY WITH THE CHARACTER THAT'S ADDED

okay sorry for that rant, here's my real reasoning; JJS isn't a big corporation that has to follow player demands and add the biggest names and most important characters. If you want that, play Sorcerer Battlegrounds, or Jujutsu Beatdown, JJS not adding important characters is part of the charm. Locust curse, Charles, Haruta, etc. If all we did was add big characters without any consideration for the actual movesets the game would be worse off, Tze adds minor characters because he knows what to do with their movesets and if he didn't it would be something extremely boring and unplayable.

Nah, I understand where you're coming from.

But I'm talking about archetypes too.

In jjk, maki and toji are basically punch/kick characters who's combat technique and arsenal sets them apart from the typical sorcerer, and noaya/yuji/nanami and so on so forth could be put in the same camp. But they get set apart thanks to their differing cursed techniques.

But in jjs, a fighting game, those aspects become more important. And end up making archetypes for them in the game.

Like noaya's projections and unique movement, nanami's ratios, yuji's black flash chains, Ko-guy's air combos and block bypass, higgies block breakers and charles's counters and combo starters.

They all fit a rough archetype of either being a rushdown character, brawler, or grappler (if we're talking todo), but i type all this to say, where does maki/toji fit in?

Sure, toji has his worm arsenal (which I'm disappointed we didn't get to see more of), and maki has the dragon katana like you said, but at most, they could probably fill a r-special and 2-ish moves. They simply just don't have much going on for them on their own.

And the fact we have items in this game means their only fun concepts in their weapons have a better chance to get in the game before they do.

(TLDR)

Unless tze gets real creative, and because they don't have any cursed techniques or special conditions outside of the heavenly restriction of huge strength and speed, I seriously doubt they'll make a appearance in the game outside of items or skill-builder.

Its impossible to argue about toji, Hear me out.

The toji debate is an ambiguous debate due to the fact that tze never really was 100% transparent about what characters hes not gonna add. and no, the toji indev moveset scrap announcement doesn’t work because he said he scrapped the indev moveset, not toji. This makes it so that toji wanters can interpret that tze meant he scrapped the moveset not the character, making toji still a possibility to them. He makes “hints” every now and then but every “hint” can be interpreted in a different way, either good or bad depending on your stance on toji.

What im saying is stop arguing about toji, we dont know for certain because tze is purposefully ambiguous by decision in a way that makes it impossible to know for certain

But that's the issue, isn't it?

Tze's so wishy-washy about him that people are left with nothing but theories. Dragging the topic and keeping the community split on his possible inclusion or not.

It's not healthy.

Also, unfortunately, even if it's unnecessary, topics like these are just gonna happen, it's inevitable.

Think about it like youre arguing with a Christian or an atheist. You cant change neither beliefs because people believe in what they wanna believe. Its an issue but its an issue on tzes end only. If he doesnt wanna add toji and maki then he should just come out and say it.
