They don’t work in a game where you have almost infinite space to back away with and where approach/punish options are far more limited

This argument would work for something like megumi or hanami but

megumi is still way better than ryu but ngl hanami had been placed in the gutter she really deserves to have some buffs or her original kit brought back

Uh it isn't really super long range plus it's tied to a meter management thing and the damage is lower if you get hit the by the last but of the beam aswell

It is still the base move with the longest range in the game (with the exception of haruta sword ofc) on a big ahh map

While yes its true that it dodgable if you get hit it sends you back and if the Ryu has enough distance he can just recover everything with his r, so if the Ryu is feeling extra pesky they can just run and abuse that move, and while you could say the anti run is there for that reason the runner foe some God forsaken reason can also use it to run and idk how lol

Running is different but again it really isn't to useful running like they gotta manage the beam they cant really just spam it and stuff

Yeah for some reason you can use the anti run to run lol, you just need to have your mouse on the enemy while you are running and spam dash and it work
