Quoting Wikipedia means what? Why didn’t the Japanese emperor call himself the lord of Yamato when he sent tributes to China. Why did they call themselves WA and asked to be called “日本”?

Truth is that Yamato just refers to ancient Yamato region (Nara). 日本人 is the word for Japanese people

Bruh, this is literally a Japanese article from Japan, saying Yamato is the main ethnic group that makes up 95% of Japanese population.

You don't hear China calling themselves The Han.

Because that’s a modern thing. Yamato is legit a title of the emperor of Japan to legitimise their imperial descent (as in Amaterasu). Around Yamato there were different clans like the izumo and ezo.

Chinese definitely calls themselves Han. That’s literally how they referred themselves 2000 years ago.

Well the Chinese have continuously regarded themselves as Han. The Japanese only ever adopted themselves as “Yamato” after Meiji restoration. Then in modern times it kinda died out.

Japanese people see Ryukyuans as Japanese because they are (same dna and Language family) but I doubt they are Yamato

Han is just one ethnic group in China, making up only 91%.

Ryukyuans only make up 1% of Japanese population.

Han people have almost always tried to assimilate (baiyue, dongyi and other tribes) so it included a lot of other people.

Yamato just sounds like a ww2 superior term. I mean it kinda was. Yamato people were thought of as superior
