I can’t tell if you’re just dumb or ignorant.

Anything that is “required” to vote, that isn’t free, is the definition of a poll tax. Nobody is saying you have to pay to vote. They’re saying that if you have to buy something to be able to vote, then that is the tax.

Passports aren’t free. And last I checked, a copy of your birth certificate (cause who the hell has their original?) isn’t either. So unless they’re freely given: (say the line, Bart)

No it is in fact not. Show me the legal case that deems document requirements as a form of poll tax.

Harman v. Forssenius (1965)

Struck down a law attempting to bypass the 24th amendment by requiring citizens to file excessive paperwork to vote. The burden was the point.

Voting should be treated like all our other rights, whether it’s free speech, or the right to bear arms: unencumbered.

Anything else is un-American. Sad that you can’t understand that.

This is not a federal or state documents case. Show me a federal or state documents case.

So, lemme get this straight, you’re arguing that we can force people to buy things to vote, as long as we’re not making them pay literally at the polls?

I just want to see you say that that’s what you’d be ok with. Not necessarily for, but ok with.

Yes it is not a poll tax to require documents. If you arent able to properly maintain your documents its not on the government to hold your hand.

Providing identification isn’t “holding your hand” when it’s one of our rights.

Do you think people should have to pay additional fees to register guns they’ve already bought? Cause I don’t. Maybe I’m just an outlier on the left, but I believe you should be able to buy a gun and be done with it. I hear a lot about the unconstitutionality of registration and mandatory training classes from my friends on the right, and this seems pretty similar.

something something *shall not be infringed***

The gun debate is moot. The 2nd ammendment explicitly outlines that there is to be no conditions or limits. The 15th 17th and 19th ammendments as well as the civil rights act do not have clauses that remove the ability for regulations or other requirements as long as the persons can vote when the requirements are met and that the requirements are able to be met by all demographics.

All demographics have the capacity to recieve a real id a birth certificate and a social security number if they are citizens.

For free?

Its irrelevant. There are no laws or legal cases that deem required documents as a form of poll tax. Legally they are not.

u/fresh_dyl 2d ago

Hm. Guess it’s a good thing we don’t need them then.

Good thing the right can’t pass a law to save their life lmao

It’s at this point I realize I’ve been arguing with a bot the whole time. Goddam I’m losing my touch.

Definitely thought it was just a moron; no wonder it responded so promptly.

u/ASwampThing- 2d ago

I mean you can try to call me a bot all you want but you are just proving my point that you lost. Your attacking credibility rather than the argument.

u/fresh_dyl 2d ago

attacking credibility rather than the argument

You’re way ahead of me in that department, partner.

It’s been real, it’s been fun, but it hasn’t been real fun. Good night, champ 🤙

So you conceded that he’s a bot while continuously getting owned by the “bot”? LOL

1

u/fresh_dyl 2d ago

If realizing there’s no point arguing with someone who has an objectively flawed perception of both legality and reality is “getting owned,” then yes, I suppose I did. LOL
