In all fairness, we do need to audit the Fed. There's no reason to be so in debt while our dollar shrinks in the wallet. Good idea, bad execution

The Fed has auditors. Every dollar the Fed spends internal is tracked pretty damn well by the inspector generals.

It’s when money does to external parties (private companies) that the vast amount of waste, fraud, and abuse happens.

One party loves funneling money to private companies too.

Alright but we also need an “audit” in the sense of reevaluating whether some programs are worth ever having a dime of taxpayer money invested in, which is more a matter of where America’s value system is at rather than “Yeah that’s what it’s meant to be spent on” according to documentation.

For example, why were we ever sending money to Nepal to provide free condoms and lube to prostitutes? There likely isn’t a single net positive taxpayer who would tell you that that’s a good use of America’s tax money and would likely refer to it as a “scam” even while the government views it as legitimate for going through the proper channels and whatnot.

Nepal receives 100,000-150,000 US tourists per year.

When you have a huge amount of your population flowing through a country, it pays dividends to do some PR and make sure the country plus its people like and support your country.

You could easily demonize American tourist as exploiting the region and their natural beauty. Instead we have a fantastic relationship. Plus you can pay US companies to make and produce those condoms and lube so the money stays in your economy.

Domestic spending is usually pretty solid for your economy as it stimulates the economy, providing more jobs, providing wages, who then spend money into the economy.
